Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy7-making sure all is correct after download
Hi Melanie, You've missed a step. To get the Married Names to show on the Index View or in the Name List you have to choose that option from the Options in those sections of the program. Just like you could choose to include AKAs or not. You can now have neither or both or just one or the other. Your problem with the Pre-release Charting. I'm not sure as I had the Beta rather than the Pre-release. I'd try uninstalling it. You may find you need to reinstall Legacy 7 over the top of your current installation after you've done that. If that doesn't work uninstall both the pre-release charting and Legacy 7 then reinstall Legacy 7. Perhaps there are better instructions in another thread. I'm very much behind in reading LUG mail and am reading by thread. I entered my customer number during the download process, but if I go to the Help pull down menu, there is no such choice as UNLOCK LEGACY DELUXE. I just want to make sure I have truly unlocked ALL the new features. One final thing, when I go to my C drive (I use Vista), I see two folders, Legacy and LegacyChart 7. On my desktop I now how two icons for charting, one that says LegacyChart which seems to go to the prerelease version and the other says Legacy Charting 7 which goes to the new version. Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy7-making sure all is correct after download
Start Legacy Click on the INDEX tab Click the OPTIONS button at the right edge Make sure there's a check mark next to Include Alternate Names and next to Include Married Names If no checkmark is in front of one you want, just click on it You should now see that info in the Index list AKAs will show up with a Tilde in front (~), but they still sort correctly (for example, ~Patton *IS* listed in the P's with the rest of the PATTON names) Married names will show up with a squiggly S in front, and they too sort correctly (OK - they do not sort correctly computer-wise, but they do sort correctly human-wise! A true, correct computer sort would have put all the ~ entries together, then all the squiggly S together, and then the A-Z entries, but Legacy managed to get it to sort they way humans would expect to see it. Not sure how they managed that trick, but I'm glad they did! ) Bob - Original Message - From: Melanie Tucker To: LegacyUserGroup@legacyfamilytree.com Sent: Friday, June 06, 2008 8:06 AM Subject: [LegacyUG] Legacy7-making sure all is correct after download Hi everyone, I've installed Legacy 7 Deluxe and have tried everything suggested on the list (but maybe I missed a post?) on how to make the married names show up in the index view. Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy7-making sure all is correct after download
For married names have you clicked on options in Index View? You may need to go out and come back to make them reappear. The old charting is found in a Millenia folder.
