[LegacyUG] Newest Update - Pictures

2015-05-27 Thread gregandlaurel
Thanks for responding Leon and Cathy. Leon, the picture reset didn’t work, but
I did find out what the problem was. For some reason the update changed the
location of my media files (Customize – Locations - Default Location of Media
Files). I changed it back to the correct location and now Picture Centre and
Reports are working normally. I have no idea why my reports were still
including the correct pictures, but just in a muddled piled up way. It was very
strange.

Cathy – yes I am accessing reports thru My Toolbar so thanks for explaining
that going straight to preview is a requested feature not a bug. I actually
like it as I only use those reports for a quick check of data I am entering –
making sure it looks good! Laurel

Hi Laurel,

My reports are OK as well.

Picture Centre working as usual.

Re Reports going straight to Preview. Are you accessing them via the My
Toolbar? This has been a requested return to how it used to work.
If you access them from the Reports Ribbon, you go to the Options.

Re: [LegacyUG] Import from a Gedcom

2015-05-27 Thread Cathy Pinner
Hi Janet,

In Legacy go to File - Import - Gedcom
When you get to the Gedcom Import screen after you have said which
Gedcom you want to import and which file you want to import it to (this
is where you name your new file) note that it has various options and a
Customise button.
You might want to import with the defaults and then, if notes or other
items aren't where you expect or as you expect, come back and import
again checking out the options.

[LegacyUG] Newest Update - Pictures

2015-05-27 Thread gregandlaurel
I am seeing several issues with pictures since the update. In both Desc and
Ancestor reports, some pictures are on top of each other. For example, a
picture of my mother is partially covered by a picture of someone else. On some
reports there are 2 or 3 instances of this. Also, some of the captions under
these piled up pictures are also piled on top of each other (so unreadable). In
the Individual and Family reports, the captions are missing from event pictures
altogether. The option to include captions is greyed out. I think we used to be
able to include captions? In Picture Centre, I can’t get any Attached Pictures
to show. Also, one other item not related to pictures, when I hit the Indiv or
Family Report button it goes immediately to a preview of the report – it skips
the part where you could select preview, print, report options etc... This
actually doesn’t bother me as I usually use these 2 reports to just review data
I have entered, but I thought I would mention it. Is anyone else having these
issues? Laurel

Re: [LegacyUG] Latest update

2015-05-27 Thread Syble Glasscock
I hesitate to reply to this, but I guess if we sit back and say nothing,
things will go on as usual.I really like Legacy Family Tree software for
numerous reasons, but I would like it a lot more even if some of the bells and
whistles were not available, if the program was more stable, Stability and
reliability should be a FIRST priority.
I too, just realize a problem that was reported and acknowledge maybe two years
ago is still not fixed.  The problem: Pedigree webpage creation: When an event
is marked "Private", it blocks the events following it.  I have three family
files totally about 15,000 individuals, so it would be very difficult to change
software and I've been with Legacy since about 2003.
Reports are still a weakness in my opinion,  updates and upgrades may help some
things, but still are not dependable.
I'll have to admit I'm hesitant to suggest Legacy to others.  I have thought
for quite sometime Legacy's focus is not on the dependability of their software.

2015-05-27 Thread Graham Love
So another update comes and goes and Millennia fail to fix the most basic of
problems. If I wanted the extra space to be removed from a report it seems
to get fixed straight away but if I want the program to correctly calculate
relationships it takes much longer. How long ago did I first raise the
problem of incorrect relationships, months or years? This is a genealogy
program not an exercise in neat presentation. No amount of clean and tidy
formatting will make up for the errors in the very basics of genealogy. Come
on Millennia, get your priorities right, Legacy should be driven by your
market and customer expectations not by programmers.
