Re: [LegacyUG] Invalid date format

2017-06-29 Thread Cathy Pinner

Barbara,

Do you have your dates set to display as -mm-dd and 1869-05 means
May 1869?

That's a valid date. But perhaps the interface isn't reading that format.
If you mean 1869-1905, then it isn't a valid date.

You can turn on Date Checking at Options-Customise 5.5 and/or use the
Potential Problem report with only the criteria on the Problems tab set
- Check for valid dates

BTW - it really helps if you start a new email for a new topic rather
than highjacking a current one and changing the subject line. Like many,
I use threaded email to group conversations and this is all mixed up
with the question about updating Legacy.

I get that all the time when doing internet searches on Familysearch
and Findmypast. Checked my dates and there was nothing out of the
ordinary. I have no idea why!

Legacy does not do automatic updates every 30 days, they are issued as
necessary. The last update was 13 Jun to build 9.0.0.189.

Do you mean the reminder to check for updates every 30 days instead.
That is set in options 12. Other Settings > Section 12.5 Message
Boxes. The update reminder is on the prompts/Reminders tab. If you
updated to 9.0.0.189 your 30 day reminder will not be due until 12 or
13 July.

If the update to 9.0.0.189 failed you should still see that there is a
new update when you are on the Legacy Home Tab and should be able to
update from there.

How do get it update without going through my browser?

Like Reset the clock to 20 days?

Re: [LegacyUG] updates

2017-06-29 Thread Ian Macaulay
Yep That's what I meant, But I didn't say it right. The 30 day reminder
when clicked does an update that is pretty well transparent to the user
except for the time waiting. I had to abort that update but want it back,
is there any way to gi it a poke to get it to ask again?

I know that I can update with my Browser by downloading the latest update
but I am wondering if I can cause legacy to retrigger the update reminder.

Re: [LegacyUG] updates

2017-06-29 Thread Sherry
Ian,

There is no "automatic update" and it's certainly not on a regular time
frame. Updates are released as they're ready and *you* have to initiate the
update process.

You may be thinking of the notification every 30 days to check for updates.

If you go to the Legacy Home tab in Legacy, you can also see if there's an
update available.

If you did try to update and you can't open Legacy now, go to the Legacy
website at www.LegacyFamilyTree.com and select Download > Download Update
to get the latest update.

Re: [LegacyUG] Source issue

2017-06-29 Thread Gail Vall
Thanks Brian. Tried the first two with no difference. I have not had a
2nd monitor hooked up in weeks so knew that wasn't the problem. Then
remembered that I had done something to help these "older" eyes. I had
gone into the main setting for the computer and changed the font size...
changed it back and yep, that was the problem. I know I can adjust font
size for individual things so will do that although I will have to fiddle
around with the fonts used in Legacy to see if that can be adjusted. May
have to drag out that second screen and see if that would work. Thought
I'd let you know the fix so that if someone else has problems, it can be
added to the "check this" list. Thanks for your help.
