There is a work around in build 361 Bill. As one other poster indicated you can place the source on the source clipboard in Legacy 8, pasting from the clipboard will work to add a new source. If it won't create a new source detail then how do I paste it into the clipboard? I'm still using Build 8.0.0.358 which works fine for now. I'll wait until it's fixed before updating. Thank you. What Brian meant was that you enter it into the clipboard and then paste what's in the Source Clipboard to your event. Bill, Copying an existing source and detail to the Source Clipboard is only one way to populate the Source Clipboard and not the major way. Open the Source Clipboard using the triangle and use the link to choose your Master Source then fill in the Detail then Save. Then it is ready to be applied to whatever fields you want and as many people as appropriate. If different people require different details, set it to prompt for detail each time. I have this on by default as I prefer to check that I'm adding the source I think I am. 1. You can open the clipboard and set up the source and details there without copying from an existing entry. This is the method Geoff uses in all his watch Geoff live webinares. Once you have it on the clipboard you can paste. 2. You can temporarily add the source to an event which has no sources (that works), copy that source to the clipboard, paste it to the correct event which has an existing source (This is the bug that need to be fixed, you cannot add a new source using the normal method to one which has an existing source) then remove the source from the temporary event. I tried uninstalling Legacy 8 and it only uninstalled the log file like Legacy 7.5 does while leaving the program files intact. Fortunately I did a system backup last night so I was able to restore my system that has Legacy 8 Build: 8.0.0.358. This version works without this problem of not being able to create new Source Details. The problem started in Build 8.0.0.361. Build 8.0.0.361 doesn't work for me. I went to a different person's Individual's Information page, clicked on the icon for Sources then clicked on Cite a Master Source, created the Detail, and it still didn't work. When I went back to Build 8.0.0.358, I had no problems. I'll stick with 358 until it's fixed. Hi Bill, I can't confirm either. I tried with both a SourceWriter source and a Basic source. I tried through the Assigned Sources screen and with the Source Clipboard. All working fine in build 361 I'm not sure I understand your step one: I selected alternate name Do you mean you were trying to add a source to an AKA or that you went to a different person in your file? Yes, I was assigning a source to an alternate name. That's when I tried three times to assign a Source Detail and it wouldn't add one. Bill, Experience shows that what can't be reproduced doesn't get fixed. Neither Ron nor I have been able to reproduce. It doesn't mean there isn't a problem for you but that there will need to be more reports of it not working so we can find what's different. There have been some issues in display from time to time. Did you go elsewhere and return or close and reopen Legacy to see if it was there then? I'd hate to see you locked into build 358 forever. OK, I've found the problem. It's the media. I so rarely attach an image to a source (I save my source images elsewhere) that I hadn't added that detail. I'll write a bug report to the test list. I closed Legacy 8 then reopened it with the same results to I rebooted. Nothing changed so I restored my system that had Build 358 installed already. Then I restored from the backup I made before updating to Build 361. I'm using the file from 358 now with no problems. It could have something to do with the data file I was using for 361. I'm not taking any chances so I'll stick with 358 for now. In Legacy 7.5, I had a problem with an update so I did a restore and waited for the next Build to update. The problem I had then was resolved after skipping that update. It took me several tries to duplicate this problem. When I first tested the source and the detail were saved. I was adding the source to an event which did not previously have a source. It was only when I tried to save the new source to an event which already had a source assigned was I able to duplicate the problem. A report has been submitted to our problem tracking system to have this fixed.
