Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: LibO 3.4.5 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Spreadsheet AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: gilb...@gmail.com Created attachment 56702 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=56702 Broken xls file. I'm creating calc spreadsheets that are then sent to Office 2KX users. By default, I send xls files in Office 2K/XP/2K3 format. Since switching to LO 3.4 xls files are saved, by default, in the Excel 5 format unless I manually select Excel 2K/XP/2K3 by using Save-As. As far as I can see, Excel 5 format, beyond being incompatible with recent Microsoft Office releases, also breaks cell formatting. In the attached each F1-F(hidden)-F2-F3-SUM column group had a 2.0pt border that separated it from the next column group. Save-Close-Open cycle removes the borders. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 45735] New: Automatic check at start-up whether LO is default program for ODF-file formats
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45735 Bug #: 45735 Summary: Automatic check at start-up whether LO is default program for ODF-file formats Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Libreoffice AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: glepp...@gmx.de Problem decription: Since Microsoft Office 2010 is being widely deployed in many offices, a particular problem comes up regarding all ODF-file formats. At installation, MS Office 2010 registers itself as default programmes for ODF-file formats. However, they do not fully support the ODF standard. This is a particular problem with Excel, since it can open .ods files, but cannot save formulas. The changed and returned document is simply *useless* if the changes have been done in MS Office. Almost always, the respective persons had OpenOffice/LibreOffice installed on their computer, but they were opening the file with a double click (which opened MS Office and not LO). The ultimate result is that *the ODF file formats cannot be used anymore in data exchange*. In my opinion, this is a severe issue. Request / Solution: Please add an automatic check at start-up of LibreOffice, to check whether LO is the default programme for all ODF file formats and give the user the option re-register LO as default programme. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42771 --- Comment #8 from Dag Wieers d...@wieers.com 2012-02-07 06:11:09 PST --- There is a problem with the official RPMs where the mime-types for Flat ODF files are missing from the installation. This has been reported more than a year ago, but still hasn't been addressed, even in the 3.5.0 RC3 release :-( Uncertain this will be fixed in 3.5.0, sigh... [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38093] Functionality request for Writer: Add Outliner similar one in Impress as basis for outlining component
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38093 --- Comment #10 from Susan Cragin susancra...@earthlink.net 2012-02-07 06:28:35 PST --- (In reply to comment #9) Thanks for good explanation. It is interesting idea. It's a critical idea. Single pane outliners with the ability to organize visually and move large blocks of text are critical to writing and publishing. I know many writers and most use Macs just to get OmniOutliner, which is the gold standard for writers and academics right now. I teach and belong to a professional writers' group and every serious published member seems to have a Mac running OmniOutliner except me. There are also several other good single-pane outliners for Macs. On Windows the best is the discontinued EccoPro. MSOffice has an okay one that my students have to use to learn to outline. Linux has nothing at all. Currently I draft using Scite and the CSS stylesheet function to get a good nesting outline. It's far from ideal and I have {{{ brackets and strange colors all over the place. I also run Notepad2 with code folding, which runs well in wine. N2 has keystrokes to move blocks of text up and down. Coupled with the outline function, that makes this tiny program very useful for drafting. LO's Navigator is good when you have a finished document, but nearly useless for brainstorming and organizing. Moving back and forth is a time-consuming. I would work entirely from the navigator panel if I could, but of course you can't edit the navigator panel. Dave Winer's OPML editor might provide some interesting open-sourced code. This is more than an interesting idea. This is a critical function. My only quesstion is whether it should be a view in LO's writer or be made a special outlining program. I could do without formatting, fonts, publication views and so on to really be able to organize lots of text. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45596 --- Comment #2 from Chip Eastham hardm...@gmail.com 2012-02-07 10:18:21 PST --- Here are steps that precisely reproduced the problem for me today: 1. Googling for white pages I pulled up this site: http://www.whitepages.com and did a search with my own name. It should open a page with formatted text for name, phone number and address (street and city/zipcode). I selected those lines (ctrl-C), which form a sort of column along the left side of the Web page. 2. Using LibreOffice 3.4 icon on my Windows7 start menu, I opened a dialog box that lets me create a new LO spreadsheet (Calc). I did not save or name the spreadsheet or any sheets within the default spreadsheet that opens. 3. I pasted the copied text (see step 1.) into the first cell of the spreadsheet. The contents actually parse out into cells A1:A4. 4. Cell A1 grows awfully large due to the font size being used. I change font size down (from 22) to 12, leaving the font for that cell as Times New Roman. I stretch cell A1 to the right so that the width is enough to display contents. 5. I then apply a Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V cut-and-paste to each of cells A2:A4 in turn (one by one), copying the column A entries into first row entries B1:D1, the phone number, the street address, and the city/state/zip. I stretch the widths as needed for these three columns as I go. 6. I now go back to step 1, copying again exactly the same name, phone number, and address information as before. 7. I paste that copied selection into cell A2, basically repeating the step 3. except beginning now in the second row of the (already open) spreadsheet. The selection parses out into cells A2:A5 8. I repeat step 4. reducing the Times New Roman font size down to 12. However it is not necessary to change the cell width this time around. 9. I repeat step 5. moving contents of cells A3:A5 one at a time to cells B2:D2. Again there is no need to change cell width because that was accomodated previously. 10. When the attempt is made to move cell A4, the cutting of the contents (ctrl-X) appears to work correctly. However upon trying to paste that street address (ctrl-V) into cell C2, the application freezes, with the mouse changing to a swirling wait/operation in progress form. The LibreOffice Calc application remains frozen so long as I've cared to wait, unable to close by menu or button actions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
