[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59775] Character width scaling does not work

2013-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59775

A co-worker tried it on his MacBook Air with 10.8 (current public available
version) and 3.6.4 and 3.6.5 -> same problem.

Two things coming to my mind that are similar on his machine and mine:
+) Austrian OS X (Österreichisch).
+) Microsoft Office 2011 is installed, too.

The font names are not in the target language in LibreOffice version 4.0.0.3
(Build ID: 7545bee9c2a0782548772a21bc84a9dcc583b89).

Maybe, localization is still in progress.

Hi Joren and Joel,

I had opened the files in FireFox to confirm the issue.

But after getting your feedback, I realized that the bug could be in the pdf
reader (I use pdf x-change viewer, which is a popular alternative for Adobe pdf
reader.)

And indeed this is so: The file does not have this issue in other pdf reader.

(Since FireFox uses an addon of x-change viewer, it is bound to face the same
problem! This is what confused me earlier.)

I will raise the bug with tracker-software (the creators of the pdf x-change
viewer).

This bug may please be closed as worksForMe. (I cannot select that status.)

Thanks for your efforts!

Correct, open a command window "Run as administrator" and then enter the
msiexec.exe command as given in comment #4.

Deletion, or renaming, of the old profile removes one variable from working
through the problem. After uninstalling the 4.0.0.2 rc2 and the profile, you
should be starting from a clean system. But sometimes running a conservative
registry clean-up (e.g. CCleaner) will resolve any lingering issues, simpler to
just clean it all off and reboot to start fresh.

If the printer issue resolves by removing the old profile, you could dig deeper
and restore items from the old 4.0.0.2 profile piece by piece.

My opinion is that profile migration, especially for the upgrade process from
3.6.x -> 4.0.0 is experimental at best. If the profile turns out to have been
the issue for you, obviously that becomes a different bug.

Take your time with the uninstall--cleanup--reinstall of 4.0.0.3 rc3 build. And
be certain to "Run as Administrator" so all Windows registry and LibreOffice
registry elements on initial launch are correctly written.

I tried to uninstall 4.0.0.3 using the Control Panel, but it told me I
was not the administrator. I did a clean install going from Vists
32-bit to Win7 64-bit and there is only one user - me.

So, I reinstalled .2
It would not open, so I tried again. This time the install for .2 gave
me a "repair" option. Once done, I had .2 back and the printer worked fine.

What you want me to do is install .3 in the command line?

XP did not have any problems with .3 install from 3.6.4 though.

I had to go offline after my last email due to not having any lunch and
really needing to eat soon of get sick. Then the pain in my back hit
hard, again, and went to my bed and read for 4 hours.

I just am taking a few minutes before beg to look at some emails that do
not take much brain-power or vision to deal with.

Will take time tomorrow to do a new install of .3 via the command line,
with your "script". I will let you know.

Thanks for reporting this I was able to confirm it. The Basic Macro seems to
work correctly on 3.6.5.2 (see attached screenshot).

I get no reaction at all on 4.0.0.2.

Ent sp1 64-bit OS

No errors noted in a verbose install log.

Version 4.0.0.3 (Build ID: 7545bee9c2a0782548772a21bc84a9dcc583b89)

True that the start panel has no printer active or associated, but on launching
any LO application, print option enables and full list of printers available to
Windows applications is populated.

Check if you have printing capability once inside a LO component.

If not, can you completely uninstall and run the 4.0.0.3 installer from command
line with verbose logging? Enter:

msiexec.exe /i LibreOffice_4.0.0.3_Win_x86.msi /L*v lo4install.log

Then post up the verbose installer log.

Confirmed this on W8 Pro 32bit Libreoffice Version 4.0.0.2 .0.2 (Build ID:
5991f37846fc3763493029c4958b57282c2597e). Printed to pdf (freepdf from
http://shbox.de/xpDownload.html) and to paper - see attachment.

Also if you select File / Print you can see in the Print Window that there are
squares / rectangles instead of the original polygons. The printed output is
identical to the attached pdf (i.e multiple polygons).

If you export to pdf the output file is correct.

We set this kind of things to 'RESOLVED WORKSFORME' because we don't know which
code repaired this behavior (if there is a patch specially build for this bug
we set it as RESOLVED FIXED). You also can try LibreOffice 3.6.5 and check or
it's also fixed there... but because it's fixed in LibreOffice 4.0.0.2 rc2 I
think it's solved also on 3.6.5 (not sure, not all patches are backported to
older versions)... But it's fixed :-), I'm glad to hear that.

Thanks for your feedback,
Joren

I installed LibreOffice 4.0.0.2 rc2 on Kubuntu 12.10 and also can NO LONGER
reproduce this misbehaviour :-) Thank You, LibreOffice development team!

Just for curiosity: What is the correct process to close this bug now (because
it is not yet fixed in an official release, but only in a rc2)?

Status: NEW
   Version: 3.6.4.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

I'm using LibreOffice 3.6.4.3 on Ubuntu 12.10.

I use cell color and cell borders to group and distinguish groups of cells in
my spreadsheet.

I need bold horizontal borders every 4 rows. This is a pain to do in the
current version because you can't specify "embolden the borders on every nth
row". So I do it manually, for enough of the spreadsheet as I need to deal
with.
(This formatting is undone if I drag the fill handle to copy formula(e) across
multiple rows.)

Please add a method, perhaps similar to the one used in FrameMaker, that allows
the specification of two levels of formatting: (a) the one we currently have,
and (b) a separate one for every nth row/column. This way we could have groups
of n columns/rows with bolder borders every nth row/column and different colors
every nth row/column. This kind of grouping by color and/or border is really
useful for making columns and rows of data more readable.

1. Assign a custom name to the grand total name ('Total Result' by default).
2. Save the file as xls.
3. Open it in Excel.
4. Refresh the pivot table.
5. The custom grand total name gets reset to Excel's default name 'Grand
Total'.

OTOH, custom field name and field members names survive the refresh. It's only
the grand total name that doesn't. I haven't tested the subtotal names yet.

To reproduce this more easily, open the attached ods document and save it as
Excel 97/XP/2003. Open that saved file in Excel and refresh the pivot table.
The custom grand total name disappears and gets reset to 'Grand Total' (Excel's
default).

The tricky part with this is

1) We need to map our database ranges to Excel's Table for 2007 and newer,
while mapping perhaps to named ranges for 2003 and earlier.

2) When mapping them to named ranges for 2003 and earlier, we need to figure
out how to handle cases where named range and database range of identical name
exist.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60144] EDITING: Crash when inserting hyperlink

2013-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60144

Reproduce with LibO 3.6.0.4
The pb appeared between 3.5.7 and 3.6.0.4

@Jorendc: the browser icon for New document is intended to select a directory
not a file (you want to create a new one not open an existing file).
I should change my description:
Steps to reproduce:
1. create a new empty presentation
2. Insert > Hyperlink > New document
3. Select Edit now
4. Select a directory, and add a filename
5. Select Presentation
6. Apply

There is NO pb if you create a Text document, a Spreadsheet, an HTML document
or a Formula document.
There IS crash if you create a Drawing or a Presentation or a Master document.

When saving a document with database range to Excel 97/XP/2003 format, the
database range disappears. That's because Excel didn't support this until
2007.

1. Open the attached ods document,
2. Save it as .xls.
3. Re-open it either in Excel or Calc.
4. You get error in B5.

2013-02-01 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Classification: Unclassified

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.4.3 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

I use text files as source data for doing mail merging. after finding some
incongruences in the generated documents of my mail merges I observed that
libreoffice base doesn't ignore the BOM mark of the beginning of the files when
you work with utf8 text files.
in windows this is not a problem because you must work with ansi encoding if
you want the special characters appear correctly but in linux you must use
utf-8 to obtain the same results and here is where the problem appears.
when you add the database fields to your writer document the BOM in the first
column name is translated to the odt file. you later can have problems working
with this document in other plataforms

I attach some files to help to see the problem

Hi,
Maybe this can give a hint:
I reproduce, but if I move the formulas to get a reverse order (test 3, test 2,

Checked on the test file (3 formula tests, 1-ok ...)and my own documents,
with 3 versions of LibreOffice:

Thanks for reporting!

Is it possible for you to test with a more recent version of LibreOffice
(3.6.5) to determine this is still a problem?

If this is still reproducible, is it possible for you to share that document
(because this is confidential (financial) information, I suggest to change the
current values to some random values)?

Thanks in advance,

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 60163
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: PIVOTTABLE: Highlight the destination area when
overwriting non-empty cells
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: kohei.yosh...@suse.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

When the user is trying to insert a pivot table and the destination area
contains one or more non-empty cells, it launches a confirmation dialog asking
the user whether or not to overwrite the non-empty cells. When this happens,
Calc should highlight the destination area to provide a visual clue to the
user. When the destination area is off screen, it should move the visible area
to that area, but do so without moving the internal current cursor position,
similar to the way the reference dialogs do.

I do not see a green rectangle in the PDF's at all. I see your second
attachment but in the PDF's that you attached, both look identical (I'd clearly
see the difference). Please open the two pdf's that you attached here and see
for yourself that there is no green box.

I agree to pje335 and Pedro. The SVG imports nicely in Version 3.6.2.2 (Build
ID: 360m1(Build:2)), but does not anymore in Version 4.0.0.2 (Build ID:
408fe71bd18616c467b3dcd7ab6756528ffcae2).

Another interesting side note: If I integrate the SVG in a Writer document in
version 3.6.2.2, the issue is the same: It is correct in 3.6.2.2, but still
wrong in version 4.0.rc2. Please have a look at the attachment test.odt.

My MS EXCEL Viewer does not open "Sales Management _Water.xlsx", so I can't
compare.

No feedback, so reduced to 1 single problem

@Ibrahim Hammad:
We have lots of Bug Reports with a clear description concerning the reported
problem. So unfortunately we can't invest time to find out what the problems
might be with your documents. "Objects are at the wrong place" is a very bad
description, we need something like "'Picture.png' in sheet1 anchored to cell
B17 in EXCEL exactly covers B17:C18. LibO shows the picture half a cell width
too far to the right and 3/4 cell hight too far to the bottom." Or you
contribute a screen shot wiht comments comparing the view.

Please feel free to proceed as I suggested in Comment 5 and to open additional
Bug reports referring to your samples here and a clear description of the
problems.

@Markus:
Indeed, Attachment 69877 "Same Workbook opened again" shows sheet "4
Action" with visible thicker cell borders than AOOo, Sympony and MS Excel
viewer
May be you can use the sample document for some more fine tuning concerning
Fileopen / Cell border width? You will see my results in a screenshot
comparing views with same zoom in several office suites.

Please close this Bug after your examinations, I will not try to fine more
problems

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58786] File -> Wizards -> Document converter does not open at all in Ubuntu/Linux

Thanks Vulcain, thanks Michael for looking into this bug.

I think Michael is right, what Vulcain has discovered in his test is exactly
what is described in bug 59366.

This bug report here is different, though. On my system, no dialog appears at
all. When I click on "File"->"Wizards"->"Document Converter" simply nothing
happens. No dialog appears.

Can anyone please test this on Ubuntu 12.10 with the LibreOffice version that
comes with Ubuntu?

Thanks Rainer for this -again- wonderful accurate bug report and such clear
steps to reproduce. Thank you, thank you, thank you :).

I can reproduce this behavior using Linux Min 14 x64;
* LibreOffice Versie 4.0.0.2 .0.2 (Bouw-id:
408fe71bd18616c467b3dcd7ab6756528ffcae2)
and master build today:
* Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 6c76cdce33d29d25a1023d5363a840ac5972c95)

Therefore I mark this as NEW ... you already did the prioritizing stuff, so
nothing to change there :).

Kind regards,
Joren

This is one of the cosmetic issues that makes LO look unprofessional. I thought

This question should go to user list or ask libre office as it's not a report
of a bug, it's a request for assistance with code.

Closing this bug as INVALID, I'm sure someone on the user list will be able to
help.

Thanks for your understanding

Problem description:
There is a difference between “Export as pdf” (ctrl+shift+p) and print to a
pdf-printer (pdf995). In the case of "Export as pdf" 2 vertical text boxes in a
drawing slipped down by about 100%, whereas the using pdf995 as a printer
creates a correct pdf-file.

More details are in the attached odg-file.

Steps to reproduce:
1. ctrl+shift+p
2. export
3. save

Current behavior:
2 vertical text boxes drop down from their original position by about 100%

Expected behavior:
