A test document showing the problem. This works fine in excel, but fails in
Libreoffice

Problem description:

A file with a protected sheet. It seems you can select the protected cells but
not the unprotected ones. You still can't edit the protected cells, of course!

This file opens fine in Excel 2013 Starter.

If this file is saved (in excel) as a 97-2003 .xls file, it works fine in
Libreoffice. Saving it as a 97-2003 file from Libreoffice makes no difference.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the test document.
2. Try to click in one of the blue cells, you can't.

Current behavior:

Expected behavior:

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.1.2 release

I download the file from the this site: http://www.libreoffice.org/download.
I changed the Language to Dutch because default it is English.
My desktop is a Windows 7 SP1 with 8 Gb Ram.
This is not the only pc or portable with that problem. On a Windows XP machine
SP3 with 2 GB of Ram I have the same problem. There was no antivirus on that
machine because I was reinstalling it. The machine was not connected to the
internet so no virus or other malware was installed.
I don't think the memory problems are the cause of the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70307] EDITING: Input fields/lists are not updated in protected sections

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70307

(In reply to comment #3)
  Expected behavior:
As by starting input all fields with Ctrl+Shift+F9. In this case the
  fields are updated.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here...

Open the attached document and press Ctrl+Shift+F9: this starts a
sequence to fill in all fields. Now edit text or choose another item and click
Next to get to the next field. In this case all fields in protected an
non-protected sections are updated. This sequence is automatically starting if
you generate a new doc by double-clicking an ott-template.

 (In reply to comment #2)

Qubit, if you're unable to change the text or select a new item in the
protected section you already reproduced the bug.

Yes, that's the behavior I noticed.

  In my opinion the
intended behavior of a protected section is, that you are not able to edit
any text but you are able to edit content of fields.

I'm not sure of the intended behavior. Here's what the docs say:
 https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Protecting_Content_in_Writer

Any section of a LibreOffice Writer text document can be protected against
changes with a password. This protection is not intended to be a secure
protection. It is just a switch to protect the section against accidental
 changes.

Kulo - Have you located further documentation of the 'protected section'?

 Thanks

I only found this about sections:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Section
and this about fields/functions:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Functions

Another fact is: it doesn't make sense to insert an input field to a protected
section an you can't input any text. The protection in this case is to protect
the doc against changes in the layout and let users fill in text in fields. You
can also see this behavior on MS Word.

Kind regards

Still, I cannot reproduce the original problem from comment 0. Dennis, is
there a chance you produce a screenshot of the Failed to execute default
Web Browser error box? It is not clear to me where that originates from.
Also, do you run under Gnome, KDE, or some other manager?

Thanks Stephan, you got it ! The problem was desktop environment related : I
was running XFCE, but when I tried the same steps of comment #0 with KDE or
 MATE, it worked !

So I'm closing this bug and will file one to XFCE people.
Thanks to all and sorry for the noise.

Not so quick---the different desktops affect LO in that it has three different
scripts it can call when launching a browser, depending on desktop either
program/gnome-open-url, program/kde-open-url, or the fallback program/open-url.

Now, in the fallback program/open-url there is indeed line 65 where the
argument is not properly quoted,

  if echo $1 | grep '^mailto:' /dev/null; then

where $1 should rather read $1 with quotes around it.

What's strange is that that appears to not make a difference when I test it
here; maybe a variance in Bash.

Denis, if you manually fix that line in your LO installation, does it work even
under XFCE then?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56035] : Indexing for Search not working

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56035

--- Comment #39 from Olaf Ahrens oahr...@bluewin.ch ---
(In reply to comment #38)
I think that fix for bug 56007 also fixes this one. Underperforming zip
operations affect the indexer, too. Can you please check it in latest
 master?
 Don't forget the WRITE_REGISTRY=1 property:

 msiexec /i
 master~2013-10-16_01.30.44_LibreOfficeDev_4.2.0.0.alpha0_Win_x86.msi
 WRITE_REGISTRY=1

Hallo Andras

Thanks for your immediately and really helpful reply. I've tested version
4.2.0.0 now in behalf of its behavior in Windows search.

First: the indexing works like a charm! My computer stays responsive all the
time and Windows didn't receive any error events in this time from search
service.

Second: to evaluate the search results was a little bit strange because of some
words are found, others not. According to my previous post I'm now sure that
this is not a problem with German umlauts. It's just that some documents are
not indexed! But which documents are not indexed? All of the tested documents
belongs to a serie of 11 older .odt-documents linked in one .odm (OpenDocument
Master Document). One of them seems to be fully indexed, the other 10 not at
all. I've found 1 difference between the indexed document and the not indexed
documents: all of them are heavily referenced to each other. But the one
document which is indexed only contains internal references, whereas the other
- not indexed - documents all do contain internal and EXTERNAL references
(links to other documents of this serie). So, when I do open one of them
directly, these external references seem to be broken. But when I work with
these documents inside the master document all these links are correct. I think
that the indexing is stumbled across these external references. Is it possible?
Should it be corrected?

Third: may I use the 4.2.0.0 indexing dll's with version 4.1.2.3 or do I have
to expect serious side-effects?

Fourth: I don't understand the connection between the indexing problem and the
problem with explorer shell extension. And what did you meen with mentioning
'Underperforming zip operations'?

Conclusion: who ever did this work is my hero of the day! He/she/they resolved
a problem existing for over one year. This solution nearly works perfect for me
and I'm hopeful that the minor problems will be also resolved in near future.

Screenshot of the issue: small black rectangle and Macro selector window in
the background.

Problem description:

If the macro recording feature is disabled, hovering over the Organize macros
menu item opens the Macro selector window.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Make sure that Tools Options LibreOffice Advanced Enable macro
recording (limited) is not ticked;
2. Open the Tools  Macros menu;
3. Place the cursor over the Organize Macros item.

Current behavior:

The Macro selector window opens instantaneously without clicking. The
sub-menu of Organize Macros does not open (only a small rectangle is visible,
see attachment).

Expected behavior:

The sub-menu of Organize Macros should open with selectable option(s), or
Organize Macros should be greyed-out/absent if none of those options are
selectable without macro recording enabled.

Note that the Macro selector window is normally summoned by the Run
Macro... option, just above Organize Macros.

I could reproduce this in both Writer and Calc.

This bug is not specific to third-level drop-down menus as I could go into
Insert Picture Scan without any problem in Writer.

On a side-note, I noticed that the Edit Object menu displays the same
little empty rectangle as shown on the screenshot.

First: thanks for confirming the fix, I set this bug to RESOLVED FIXED.

Second: Does it work with indexer from LibreOffice 3.5? Please file a new bug
for this issue, because this issue is heavily overloaded.

Third: You can use dll from 4.2 in 4.1.x. 4.1.4 will contain the fix.

Fourth: OpenDocument files are zip archives. In LibreOffice 3.6 we replaced the
zip implementation in shell extensions. It was identified, that the new
implementation read the files 1 byte at a time, instead of reading larger
blocks at a time. It caused high loads and latency.

A fresh new docx file created in MS Word 2010

This file was created in MS Word 2010. It shows Calibri for western font and
宋体 (Simsun) for Chinese font.

But, it shows Calibri for western font and DejaVu Sans for Chinese font
(fallback to Wenquanyi Zenhei as DejaVu Sans is actually not a Chinese font),
rather than 宋体 (Simsun). Note that this is consistent with the default LO
template for writer, because when create a new file in LO it sets Calibri for
western and DejaVu Sans for Chinese as default.

When decompress the DOCX file, I see the tag w:rFonts w:hint=eastAsia/ in
/word/document.xml, and I see w:font w:name=Calibri and w:font
w:name=宋体w:altName w:val=SimSun/ in /word/fontTable.xml.

So, maybe LO has dismissed the default docx fontTable settings and applied the
LO default font, when no direct font was set.

More ever, setting DejaVu Sans as the default Chinese font in the default
template is another bug. Maybe I should try to file another bug report?

this bug is still reproducible. I use 4.1.2.3.

May be related to Bug 64232, see my comment (comment 16) there. I believe this
should be mark as duplicate, rather than WORKSFORME.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70567] New: No indexing of .odt documents with cross references via master document (.odm)

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70567

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70567
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: No indexing of .odt documents with cross references
via master document (.odm)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: oahr...@bluewin.ch
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

I've evaluates the search results for the new indexing dlls version 4.2.0.0 and
found that some documents are not indexed at all. All these not-indexed .odt
files do have one in common: they belong to a serie of 11 older .odt-documents
linked in one .odm (OpenDocument Master Document). But one of them seems to be
fully indexed nevertheless, the other 10 not at all. I've found 1 difference
between the indexed document and the not indexed documents: all of them are
heavily referenced to each other. But the one document which is indexed only
contains internal references, whereas the other - not indexed - documents all
do contain internal and EXTERNAL references (links to other documents of this
serie). So, when I do open one of them directly, these external references seem
to be broken. But when I work with these documents inside the master document
all these links are correct. I think that the indexing is stumbled across these
external references. Is it possible? Should it be corrected?

First: thanks for confirming the fix, I set this bug to RESOLVED FIXED.

Second: Does it work with indexer from LibreOffice 3.5? Please file a new
bug for this issue, because this issue is heavily overloaded.

Third: You can use dll from 4.2 in 4.1.x. 4.1.4 will contain the fix.

Fourth: OpenDocument files are zip archives. In LibreOffice 3.6 we replaced
the zip implementation in shell extensions. It was identified, that the new
implementation read the files 1 byte at a time, instead of reading larger
blocks at a time. It caused high loads and latency.

Thanks again!

According to your question ('Second'): Yes, I think version 3.5 has this
problem too because off as I mentioned in comment 37 some words were not found
and the documents I've tested then have been the same I've tested for comment
39. I've just opend a new bug report:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70568] New: UI: java add-on function inaccessible from Shortcuts Dialog

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70568

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70568
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: java add-on function inaccessible from Shortcuts
Dialog
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: yury.tarasiev...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
   Version: unspecified
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Functions (well, class methods, actually) contained in Java add-ons (like
DocLitManager, for example) can't be selected from Shortcuts Dialog (accessed
by Tools-Customize-Keyboard tab).

These are, to all purposes, java macros, but there are no entries for these in
the 'Libreoffice Macros' section of Category list. Also, there is no provision
for making the custom entry for the shortcut action.

And so, operator is reduced to 1) modifying shortcut with something else (like
HelloPython) and then 2) quitting LO and 3) text-editing
registrymodifications.xcu in the ~/.config/libreoffice subdir (on Linux), where
it is necessary to
4) search the file for the string
vnd.sun.star.script:hello1.py$HelloPython?language=Pythonamp;location=user
(this is what value XML tag contains)
and
5) replace it with (in my case)
org.openoffice.doclitmanager.doclitmanager:DocLitManager
6) save and restart, of course.

That's what I had to resort to set up a keyboard shortcut for the
DocLitManager's dialog. Not for the average user, is it?

SVG/XML code/extension to extract it from Wikipedia inline.

Maybe the LibO SVG input filter don't manage such extension, or some resources
used by the extension are absent on my system (LibO 4.0.5.2 on Win7) ?

Going back to specification : if I select all (Ctrl-A) a complex Web page and
copy it, what is Writer supposed to display when I paste ? I thought it was :
- standard texts (not FontArt) and images,
- with a best effort to mimic the lay-out.

I never thought that Writer was a kind of browser, nor the ideal tool to build
full-featured HTML pages. Where is the bug ?

Here a correction to my previous post: with new generated cross referenced
documents I can't reproduce this error of indexing. So the reason why the other
documents stay not-indexed may be another one as I suspected. I only can
confirm that also new saving the initially mentioned documents or change them
to .doc or .docx and back to .odt doesn't allow the indexing. Interesting:
these new produced .doc/.docx documents are indexed!

  Reporter: harald.koes...@mail.de

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED

 Component: Writer

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
[1] Create a short text document with at least one heading.
[2] Create a table of contents.
[3] Enable option “LibreOffice Security Security Options and warnings
Options... Security options Crtl-click required to follow hyperlinks”.
[4] Disable option “LibreOffice Writer Formatting Aids Cursor in protected
areas”
[5] Move cursor over an item of the table of contents. A tip is displayed:
“Ctrl-click to open hyperlink: ...”. This message is wrong. It is not a
hyperlink, it is a link inside the document. But this is not the real
problem...
[6] Ctrl+click on item of table of content. Crash: “Due to an expected...”. No
data loss in my tries, recovery works as expected.

If you disable the option “... Ctrl-click required to follow hyperlinks” in
step [2], then in step [4] only the heading name is displayed. Better would be:
“Click in order to go to heading 'heading name'” or similar. In this case a
click on an item of the table also crashes LibreOffice.

Other checked versions:
(1) In version 3.6.7 Click/Ctrl-Click also does not work. Nothing happens if
you click an item, but there is at least no crash.
(2) LibreOffice 4.0.0.(release) also crashes and recovery does not work.
(3) LibreOffice 4.0.4.(release) also crashes, recovery works as expected.
(4) LibreOffice 4.1.2.(release) also crashes, recovery works as expected.

this bug is still reproducible. I use 4.1.2.3.
Yes, I know that it's reproducible with 4.1, but it has been fixed in master

May be related to Bug 64232, see my comment (comment 16) there. I believe
this should be mark as duplicate, rather than WORKSFORME.
No. Bug 64232 is about office 'Themes' from Office *2013*, while this bug is
about formatting of Office *2010* document. And Bug 64232 is still reproducible
with the latest master build. So not related at all.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64232] FILEOPEN: [FORMATTING] [DATALOSS] Importing DOCX with default font 'Times New Roman' - shown as different font in Writer

(In reply to comment #16)
This file was created in MS Word 2010. It shows Calibri for western font
and 宋体 (Simsun) for Chinese font.
It opens as 'SimSun' font with master build (4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID:
cc2a405915e82c4b332dd25457f76704dc536d7f TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master,

that build, so not related at all. The reason is that the current bug is about
Office *2013* 'Themes', while you talk about Office *2010* file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 60589] [Template manager]: Can not copy styles between different files and templates

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #15 from Zoltán Hegedüs x...@hdsnet.hu ---
With the new method, I can not copy only 1 style between documents, only the
all styles.
By the way, if I want to modify 1 style in a lot of files, each files has
different base size for the tab character, I must write down the base size and
after the copying of the style, restore the base size, at each files to modify.
Because of the base size of tab character is overwritten so when I copy all
paragraph styles with overwriting the styles with the same name.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70574] New: Feature Request: Open files in read mode as default

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70574

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70574
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Feature Request: Open files in read mode as default
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: libreoffice...@dsleecher.de
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

In our company, we often use the same file to work on from network shares. But
more often than not (90% of all cases) I only want to read the Document, not to
edit! But when I open a File, it is opened in edit mode and will be locked
for others until I manually disable the Edit File-Button.

If I want to edit and it is locked, I have to call my colleague to disable
editing, as he most likely only wanted to read what i wrote before, and forgot
to disable edit mode. This is annoying!

I could open the File with -view parameter, but then it is write protected,
the edit file button is grey and I am not allowed to save the File anymore.
(So this is NO duplicate of Bug #62845)

So I think it would be an useful option, to open a document in read mode
(Edit File unchecked) as default.

What I would like to have:
- option to open documents in read mode as default
- after opening, I can click Edit File button to edit and save the file, if I
want to
- don't show File is locked by ... dialog on startup, if it is opened in read
mode (it will be shown when i enter edit mode anyway)

As Bonus I would like this behaviour on Network shares only, local files may be
edited directly. But this is really optional.

This Feature would make the workflow of all users in collaborating teams much
more comfortable.
Also it would protect from accidental edits and overwrites, as I must confirm
(by just one click), that I really want to edit this document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70575] New: UI: Translations of cell and row hard to discern

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70575

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70575
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: Translations of cell and row hard to discern
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: immanuel.hay...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
The german translations of cell and row are hard to discern (Zelle und
Zeile) which is even amplified by them being right next to each other in the
menu. So esp. late at night those look virtually identical and make work harder
than it has to be.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set Libreoffice interface language to german (and restart)
2. Create a table in writer
3. right-click on the table

Current behavior:
Menu looks like this:
[more items]
Zelle
Zeile
Spalte
[more items]

Proposal:
- make a better translation (eg. Reihe for row)
and/or
- put an image next to cell/row/column which signifies what the entry is about
(eg. similar to the row - select image)
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.1.2 release

@Ronny Lydou: Could you please verify the integrity of the msi file? You have
two ways to achieve that:

1. Right-click on the file in Explorer, choose 'Properties', open 'Digital
Signatures' tab, and click on 'Details'. You should get a new windows with the
text 'This digital signature is OK.'. If it's not the case, or you don't have
the 'Digital Signatures' tab at all, then your installation file is corrupted.

2. You can also compare the hash of your file, with the one from
libreoffice.org. In order to see the correct hashes, you should click on the
'Info' link that located at the bottom of the big green download button (near
'Torrent' link).

If your installation file is indeed corrupted, you should try to download it
again. If it won't help, you should try another mirror (If you click on the
'Info' link, you'll get a list of mirrors).

As the WEEKS function is not defined in OASIS specification, i don't know what

- I would be able to confirm that the above scenario leads to the attachment

- I can't find any use-optimal-line-height setting in the attachment 87774
(after manual reading of the XML)
- so I suspect that the problem lies in the creation of the XML file.

Why not show valid drop down icons all the time ?

To my knowledge, no other spreadsheet software found it valuable (I can't
remember for earlier versions of OOo, but AOO 4.0 don't do it). Probably
because it will definitivly hide part of the content of all cells right to
icon-showing ones ; and perhaps because it could lead to a huge number of
visible icons (hugely overloaded screen).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70537] FILTER: Bad performance/unable to open 3.3MB Excel XML file

2013-10-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #3 from Michael Wood esiot...@gmail.com ---
Hi

(In reply to comment #1)
 Hi Michael,
 please try to open as:
 Microsoft Excel 2003 XML

This had a similar effect. I did the following:

1. Started Calc
2. Clicked on the File menu and chose Open
3. Selected the badperf.xls file
4. Expanded File type and chose Microsoft Excel 2003 XML
5. Clicked Open

At this point the Loading progress bar at the bottom showed about 50%, Calc
started using 100% of one of my CPU cores, and after a while it popped up the
General input/output error. dialog with Retry and Cancel buttons. Clicking
Retry actually loaded the spreadsheet immediately. I am sure I tried that
before when running 3.6 and it did not work, but I had not yet tried that with

maybe a similar issue like in this bug:
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70100

I don't think so. I had this problem with 3.6 and tried upgrading to 4.1 to
see if it made a difference. 70100 says it worked for them in 4.0. Also,
Writer never seems to try to open this file.

Thanks for the new attachment. It's really different than the previous one you
provided (attachment 86240), and now I have some results (LibO 4.0.5.2 on Win7)
:
- loading into Writer and Impress, re-exporting to PDF : OK (except font
replacement which leads to overflows toward the right, mainly for the main
title)
- LibO DRAW : only the graphics, no text.
- No test for the command-line SvgToPdf conversion.

  Severity: normal

  Reporter: g...@issiweb.com

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release

Problem description:

While editing a manuscript, deleting text frequently crashes writer.

Steps to reproduce:

Document is 210 pages, 58957 character, odt format.

Current behavior:

Crashes seem to occur more frequently with increasing content size dating back
at least 2 version updates. Saving document under new name, seemed to help
temporarily. Document format is very simple: double spaced with simple header.

Expected behavior:

Recover seems to work, but I am not all that confident of document integrity
after 100s of crash/recovery incidents.

Stephan: I agree with your reasoning. My understanding was that development
resources were focused on our core product and any bundled extensions. I'd be

Problem description:

Opening a .doc file with fillable fields, it is possible to fill the fields
with text, but it is not possible to change the rest of the text in anyway. The
status line indicates 'read only'. Trying to change the text reports 'Readonly

This is very similar to what reported in
http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/2854.

Yet the issue here is that the proposed solution does not work. There is no
document section to unprotect. In the format menu, sections is grayed out.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached doc
2. Try to modify text

Current behavior:

The text cannot be modified and there is no way to toggle the read-only status

There is no easy answer here. If the bug is caused by an inadvertent
incompatibility in LO we would certainly like to know about it and fix it. But
finding out the root cause of an extension problem can of course be quite
difficult.

3. A screenshot of how the document renders in LibreOffice (Incorrect.png)

This issue happens in version 4.1, which I downloaded and installed on Windows,

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45371

with LO 4.1.1.2 under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

I reproduce the bug exactly the way it is described. (Please note that you have
to leave the cell after you entered the URL, and then come back to it.)

There is now only a problem when you add a texte that contains a dot or a
capital letter in the formula bar.

- If the cell only contains the URL, as soon as you type the dot or capital
letter the URL looses its property and the following letters starts inserting
themselves in the midst of the URL.

- If the cell allready contains something more than the URL, after you add a
dot or a capital letter, the URL looses its property but the following letters
are not inserted inside the URL.

If you add the text directly in the cell (by double-clicking into the cell)
there is no problem.

for example WITH FRENCH KEYBOARD : % § / ?
but some do not : , ; : !

In fact it seems that the bug is triggered by all caracters that need the SHIFT

So to test, try caracters that need the shift key to be pressed (they are not
