No Neil,

I downloaded and flashed the bios with the software from this site but no

the whole drive. Now, if I can just figure out what MS-RAMDRIVE is (since

 Dan,

You don't by any chance have the 70 bios that restricts the disc size to
1.6G? You may need to use the version 6.20 available through
 www.silverace.com/libretto

The fifty sees six gig with no problems...

I know that I bought a 4.3 gig hard drive for my CT-70 and now all I see
in
WINDOWS is C: drive, no D: drive and C: only has 1 gig left on it (with a
minimum win98 installation). When I boot up in DOS I can see C: has 1
gig
and D: (called MS-RAMDRIVE) has 1.5 gig which appears not to be
accessible.
I looked at FDISK and it only has a few bytes reserved (not 1.5 gig) and
windows (in VIRTUAL MEMORY) is taking what it needs to run. So you might
want to check to make sure the 50 will recognize all of your new drive,
not
just 2 gig or whatever. I am still looking for a way to fix my problem.

1) type

   VER

at the command prompt of the boot disk and tell us which version of DOS you
are using.

2) how are you fdisking it? You should 1) enable large drive support upon
entering fdisk when it asks you before you can do anything else 2) create a
partition that is the full size of the HD 3) exit, reboot and format to the
full size.

3) detailed notes as to what you're using and doing would be helpful here.

4) if you've got an IBM HD, you can download and use their free Disk Manager
program from www.storage.ibm.com - support to get the Libretto to see
everything and installed right away.

Seeing 8GB

Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 13:52:08 -0400 (EDT)
From: Michael Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Seeing 8GB

What does the statement A libretto 70CT can't see more than 8GB on a hard
drive mean?

More specifically, if I partitioned a 16GB hard drive (without an
overlay) as

1 GB primary partition (for Win95b C drive)
1 GB primary partition (for Linux /)
14 GB extended partition, containing:
5.9 GB logical partition (for Win95 D drive)
100 MB blank space (for suspension)
8 GB logical partition (for Linux /home)

would
a) Win95b be able to see the D drive (since it's under the 8GB mark), or
b) Win95b not be able to see the D drive (since it's in an extended
partition that crosses the 8GB mark)?

TIA,
Mike

You could try building a windows crash disk on a desktop and booting from
that. It shouldn't have the ramdrive IIRC, so you won't have it running.

Plus, I think somwone already mentioned that you must fdisk (you can do that
from the crashdisk) with 'use big drives' option selected to make sure that
you have FAT32 and not FAT16 or FAT12 partitions.

2001-06-20 Thread neil barnes

Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 18:41:17
From: neil barnes [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Re: Seeing 8GB

I don't see any reason why not...

My 6G is:
4G windows
1.6G linux /
128M linux swap/
and the rest for the hibernate block.

The statement refers to the bios limits - Win uses the bios to get the disc
parameters even though it doesn't use them once it's running, so even though
there's disk there, windows can't see it without extra tricks (like on-track
or similar). Linux is quite happy seeing the whole disk, provided the kernel
is late enough (2.2.xx or later IIRC)

If you really want to see windows sillies...fdisk a windows partition under
linux, say 1G. Check it with windows fdisk, sure enough it's 1G. Mow use
format to format that partition. Last time I tried that (on a 6G) it
cheerfully announced it was formatting 528M...and formatted the lot. Windows
is not always too particular about these things :)

Intellisync97

Subject: Intellisync97

Librettoers,

According to the user manual, to enable a Libretto 110CT to communicate
with another PC using Intellisync97, the other PC must have a copy of the
program installed and running. Where can I obtain a copy to install? I
ask this as a visit to the PumaTech website reveals a number of Intellisync
products but not I97 per se. On the other hand, is it better to just go
with another sync product and install it on both the 110CT and other PC,
dumping I97?

Thanks,
Martin :)

Wof. Intellisync is one BEAR of a program. And it precludes using MS-IR
which is standard.

I have had some luck using Direct Cable Connect over InfraRed when necesary.

From: Pres Waterman [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: InfraRed

Hi. I had to remove my InfraRed setup temporarily and can't get it back

I have a L100 running Win98

I have IRPCI95 which complains about a bad target or OS. I assume it doesn't
work in 98

I have 790FIR98 which successfully sets up a Toshiba Fast Infrared Type-0
device which I believe is a virtual netwotk card.

But before I can set up the MS-IR2.0 driver I need the thing that sets up
the InfraRed as a Plug-n-Play device, setting a haredware comport like COM3
so MSIR2.0 can grab it and redirect it to a virtual comport.

What do I need again?
