Matt, I have had three EPR's for my Libretto L100 and I high number of
PC cards for them with never any issues like you describe in any of
them. I have put the cards into the EPR and the Libretto in multiple
configurations without an issue. I even had 3 Dock profiles at one
time to connect my machines between the 3 locations where the EPR's were
set up. I have an external floppy; external CDRW; external SCSI CD ROM
and JAZ drive; Ethernet card; Modem card; CF card; and external Hard
drive all connected at various times - sometimes I had to remove some to
have room for others.

Does your Port replicator give you the same problems when you plug in
external monitor / keyboard / mouse / printer / serial device? If not,
this suggests the port on the Libretto is OK and the problem is in the
EPR. If you also have trouble with the replicator, the problem is in the
Libretto.

Hope this helps,
Dick

Also, I think my EPR has always had something wrong with it. I suspect the
connector between it and the one on the Lib. Every once n a while I'll
suddenly experience W98 undocking the system without any input from me
(that I'm aware of... maybe a little bump does it). The PCMCIA sockets in
the EPR can be pretty flakey too. Network cards have often had problems if

spray down the plug and socket on the EPR Lib 100.

Just came across this old post of mine. This EPR is still flakey. Guess no
one on the list has had the same problem, as I saw no replies on this.

You said you'd bet it would be fast. That sounded like you hadn't tried it.
But then you said that connecting yours over a 5MB/s cable went full speed
(5 MB/s?). I'm a little confused there.

Maybe you're saying that since it worked for you, it should work for me...
yes? That, maybe because you're taking into consideration the differences

can use to plug into it! I kinda wondered what people are doing with the
USB.

I tell you, I don't know how many hours I blew the other day struggling to
install an old copy of W95 the other day. After many many hours of attempts
getting a SUWIN error starting installation after hours and hours of
Scandisk running from DOS (anyone know a command line switch to get around
that?), and years and years waiting for 2 FDs worth of Partition Magic to
run on that tortoise of FDD Toshiba gave us... I finally found out I needed
to setup extended memory with himem.sys and emm386.exe in order to get ANY
Windows OS installed! I don't remember having to do that before. But then
my memory is failing faster and faster...

But I was wondering if the L100 or L110 Libs are faster at this sort of
thing. What kind of FDDs do they have... They're not USB FDDs, are they?

---

Setup Options: SETUP [batch] [/T:tmpdir] [/im] [/id] [/is] [/iq] [/ie]
[/ih] [/iv]

batch Specifies the name and location of the file that contains the Setup
options.

/T:tmpdir Specifies the directory where Setup will copy its temporary files.
If the directory doesn't exist, it will be created. Caution: Any existing
files in this directory will be deleted.

/im Skips the memory check.
/id Ignores the disk-space check.
/is Skips the routine system check.
/iq Skips the check for cross-linked files.
/ie Does not create an Emergency Boot Disk.
/ih Skips the registry check.
/iv Skips the display of billboards during setup.

---

After repeated attempts at installing Windows in DOS on a P120 Lib, ALL
those switches might help at speeding things up.

Must test. More testing is good. Must test more.

I passed the PC card onto a friend of mine for his new laptop but in the

to run the USB devices. I will be running a USB mouse, a foldup USB keyboard and
a USB external HD + room to plug in a scanner or printer as needed. I might even
wind up with a USB external CD-RW drive if I can't get the no-name PMCIA card

could never find this device and I never figured out what brand it is to
download the drivers for it. Any suggestions on how to get an unknown CD-ROM
drive to work in an L110 anybody?

Jon, thanks for your input on the Win2K OS - yes, the new L110 does have the 64
meg RAM. As for Win98 - along with the BSDs I really hated the constant
warning blaming me for doing something illegal and then shutting down my

I've got a 110CT running Win2K Pro - it works just fine. Takes a bit of
time to boot up, but as suspend hibernate work fine you shouldn't have to
reboot too often (hopefully!) This 110CT of yours - it does have 64Mb yes?
I hate to think what Win2K would do with *only* 32Mb.. Win2K Server on a

upgraded to Win2K; it also worked fine but I had too many BSDs (Blue Screens

 Subject: A couple of questions

I bought a nice L110CT off eBay a couple of days ago. I got an
approval
period on it to make sure it is alright. The young fellow I got it from
just
lives in Seattle, an hour and half away so I will go pick it up in person.
In
the meantime he is asking me if I want Win2K Pro installed on it (which he
has
been using) or Win2K Server (? - I don't know what this is?) or Win 98.
What
will work best on this Libretto - I use Win2K on my desktop PC and like it
but
how will it fare on the L110? Any advice or recommendations are
appreciated. I
upgraded to the L110 from my L70 because I wanted the USB capability to
run an
external harddrive and other USB devices with a 4 USB port PMCIA card or 4
port
 AC powered HUB.

 Chester

Good for you Chester! I was watching that auction and was wondering if you
were bidding on it.

I'll let those with experience with W2000 address your questions though.
