Re: [Licq-main] cursor focus

2003-09-13 Thread Marc Williams
I understand we all have different priorities. Having a chat window
with the proper cursor focus is important to me so I took the plunge and
made gaim my primary IM client, at least for now. But thanks for making
a terrific IM client and one that I've been using for a really long
time. I'll be revisiting this decision from time to time as I do many
other apps.

Good luck on future LICQ development and thanks again!

Well, this is something on my todo list.
Unfortunately i'm totally busy, i'm currently moving (as well as jon does) and
though don't have any free time :(
There are some things that are more important with CVS licq but this focus
thing is something i wanted to improve a long time ago already...

Now i get it: you are talking about the messageview dialog when talking in
chatmode. (i was trying to reproduce in a chat window (panel or irc)). I
don't use chatmode messageview, so i can't discuss anything. Thomas?

Re: [Licq-main] cursor focus

2003-09-12 Thread Marc Williams
Hi. Thanks for responding but I guess I didn't make myself clear.

When a LICQ chat window is opened, that chat window is raised and has
focus. But within that chat window itself the cursor can be in any of
several places. Ideally, I would like the cursor focus to be and remain
in the *send* window portion of the chat window - that window where your
typing is done. For me, it isn't there, it's somewhere else within the
chat window meaning that I either have to tab until the cursor is
focused correctly or take my hands off the keyboard and move the cursor
focus there with the mouse. That is a pain.

Just as a test, I installed GAIM. The cursor focus of GAIM's chat
window behaves correctly so I don't believe that there's anything wrong
with my Window Manager.

I'm using a pretty stock version of Red Hat 8, btw.

Hi,
The focus of the windows is managed by the Windows Managers. You can
configure that behaviour it from there. It isn't licq bussiness.
