Re: [LincolnTalk] Bear sighting just now at Fox Run Road

2024-05-13 Thread Linda McMillan
I talked with the Massachusetts bear biologist today. He said this bear was
moved from Worcester where he was wandering into a very developed area not
because he was aggressive or violent. He's about two years old and has
moved about 35 miles in the last week. They have no intention of moving him
out of Lincoln. He said we should get used to having bears in our town. The
likelihood is that we will see more.

He said to take down your bird feeders and bring in your trash.

Regarding dogs, he said there is more risk that your dog will be attacked
by a coyote than by a bear. However, he said if you have a dog that wanders
or does not come to you when called, or who is aggressive, he suggests
keeping it on a leash.

He also said there is no need to notify them of the current location
because they have no plans to move the bear.

I hope this is helpful.

[LincolnTalk] Multi-Lingual Babysitter Available

2024-05-13 Thread stephanie kramp via Lincoln
Dear Lincoln,I am an 18 year old college student (studying meteorology) home
for the summer and seeking babysitting jobs.  As a fluent speaker of French, I
can interact and talk with your kids to help them learn the language.  I can
also read to them from books in French!  As a proficient speaker of German, I
can do the same in that language.
I completed the Emerson Hospital Babysitting training, and I can get myself to
and from your home.  It is possible I can be available at the last minute, so
please don't hesitate to call or text me to ask.
I charge $25 per hour for up to two children.  For more kids please let me know
the number and I will provide my rate.
Thank you and enjoy the summer,Gabriel kramp781-434-8511kramgabr...@gmail.com--

Re: [LincolnTalk] Black Bear Sighting

2024-05-13 Thread Anne Sobol
To any person who felt I was accusing them of anything bad, *please accept
my humble apology.* It was when people started joking around, giving the
bear names, posting that video about a news show commenting on a bear
because there was nothing else of note to report on that I began to wonder.
And the photo of the bear standing up so tall with his ear clips looking
straight at the camera was unreal. This morning I started rummaging around
in the bear threads to see the other photos, and I realized the bear is
definitely real. I have two bird feeders and I like nothing more than to
look at birds. In the evening, the male cardinal now perches on top of the
pole where once a feeder used to be and looks towards my house. If there
were no real bear I could put my feeders back up. I was hoping there was no
real bear. Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

[LincolnTalk] chicks' story, predator attack

2024-05-13 Thread Bijoy Misra
Friends,
I need help to understand., This morning, the nest was seen toppled
and there were three small red stains on the floor, one foot apart.
The animal that toppled the nest has collected the whole chicks,
nothing is left except the stains. Somebody had mentioned of raccoon,
I have not seen a raccoon here in years. My wife suspects rat.
It is a sad day here. Last time chicks just flew away gleefully.
I found a second nest on the top of the wreath, it was too casual.
I had seen a bird sitting there, but didn't think of the nest.
So it goes.
With my respects to nature,

All, It really doesn’t matter whether the image was AI produced (although it is not).  I originally posted a video of this EXACT bear stealing my bird feeder last week.  The video clearly shows the edge of my house and back yard.I’m disappointed some feel the need to be suspicious and suggest someone in town would waste their time creating an AI image.  What would be the benefit??Regards,Paula Robinson617.981.1945On May 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM, ROY HARVEY wrote:

Re: [LincolnTalk] Black Bear Sighting ; animal control officer

2024-05-13 Thread ROY HARVEY

   Per the Police Dept website,

Jennifer Condon serves as the animal control officer for the Town of Lincoln. Contact the Lincoln Police Department at 781-259-8113 with any concerns or questions and the Animal Control Officer will call you back as soon as possible.

I wondered whether the bear was a hoax when I saw the photo of him/her with the ear tags standing up with the feeder. However, when I looked closely at the photo posted yesterday by pspeert on Fox Run Lane I could see the ear tags, and then I began to feel alas it's not someone's idea of a joke.

Does Lincoln have an animal control dept? I don't see one on the Town website.

[LincolnTalk] Start your summer with a week on Cape Cod!

2024-05-13 Thread Rachel Drew
Hello neighbors,
I have a cottage for rent on a private beach in South Chatham for the week
of June 22-29 (we rarely have last minute openings but someone had to
cancel their reservation). It has 3-bedrooms/2 full baths (plus an outdoor
shower) and sleeps 6, with AC/heat, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, TV
and everything else you could want for a comfortable stay. The private
beach is literally 50 yards (and a flight of stairs) from the front door,
with the calm and warm water of Nantucket Sound providing a very
kid-friendly beach experience.

You can see the full online listing here:
https://www.weneedavacation.com/Cape-Cod/Chatham-Vacation-Rental-15198/.
The rate is $2800 for the week plus tax. Reach out to me if you are
interested!

[LincolnTalk] Highly recommended pet sitter, specializing in special needs animals

2024-05-13 Thread Wendy Power
I want to share with you an absolute treasure: Lisa Das Fling is fantastic pet
sitter who has been everything we could hope for. Our not-super-socialable cats
were interested in and interacted with her right away. They take food, treats,
and meds from her with no problem. She truly is a cat whisperer. We are
grateful for the peace of mind we have when we are away, knowing that Lisa will
be taking care of them, making sure they get love, medications, food, and
attention, while also proving us with regular updates. If you are in need of a
special person to give your fur babies extra special care while you are away,
you absolutely can count on Lisa. You can contact her at:
