running the application servers on z/Linux and the DB2 on z/OS. The main
key points, HA with Parallel Sysplex and WLM. I would be more than happy to

SAP does not certify having the database (regardless of what flavor) on Linux
for System z. The rest of the setup can be on Linux for System z, but not that
one piece.

One of my larger customers is running SAP on Linux for System z (using z/VM),
with DB2 running on z/OS. They're trying to move away from AIX for this
particular use. They have two CECs for redundancy (both are running z/OS, z/VM
and Linux), dynamic routing and VIPA to everything, etc. Big and complex, but
it runs well for them.

2010-08-03 Thread Rich Smrcina

Bruce,

The SAP App Server on Linux for System z only supports the database on
DB2 for z/OS. Sadly, DB2 LUW (even Linux on System z) is not an option.

Like the other poster indicated, if you can get an opportunity to talk
to Mark you should do so. He actually gave a good presentation here at
SHARE about their setup, experiences and motivation.

The Distributors. There is no 64 Bit GA Distribution till now.
You need a GA Distribution to run a mySAP.com

The whole mySAP.com pilot and CA-Phase run on our ThinkBlue/64 7.1
distribution available from http://linux.zseries.org/
This Distribution is based on RedHat 7.1.
