Hallo Gerd,

ist das "Faule Hündechen = Lazy Dog" zum Thema TCP/IP per Packet bei Dir
lesbar angekommen? Ich hatte es am letzten Wochenende (10./11.) von der

das gute Stück ankam.

Falls Du bereits eine Bestätigung an die private Mail geschickt hast,

Thank you very much for that hint, I hope my problems with SGML
are gone now (there were some problems related to transmission
to the coordinator for the german HOWTOs that seem to be
cleared now).
I think I can make it using other HOWTOs written in SGML as
template in my text editor.

Thank you :), in some points, I am in the same situation as you: I
do not have very much spare time so these things usually have to
wait until some minutes are free for them.

So, if nobody has problems with it, I am going to retranslate my
german version back into English after it is finished (I wanted to
include some bits of new information that I got in the last days).

But, be patient, it may take a couple of days ...

P.S.: Only as announcement here: Since I am no native English
speaker there surely will be errors, especially in grammar.

I would be interested in assisting, and perhaps co-ordinating.
However I do not have experience with any exotic hardware like
SCC boards, so I would need assistance.

I took the liberty to place a copy of this HOWTO on PI8ZAA.#NBO.NLD.EU
It can be retrieved with the REQFIL server on PI8ZAA.
the HOWTO is in directory LINUX/HOWTO/AXHOWTO.HTM
It can also be retrieved with ftp on the amprnet
ftp://pi8zaa.ampr.org/pub/linux/HOWTO/axhowto.html

For the moment there is also a temporary copy on
http://sharon.esrac.ele.tue.nl/pub/linux/HOWTO/axhowto.html

An SGML (LinuxDoc since the DLHP coodinator still wants it) has
been mailed to the DLHP coodinator as well. Since I did the SGML
formatting manually from scratch only having the original HOWTO
as a template there still may be errors in that version so it surely
will take a little time before it appears in the DLHP.

Since I am not familiar with SGML any hint is appreciated here (if
wanted, I can even send my sketchy SGML version out for error
checking and proofreading).

I think the main problem is that Gerds howto does not use
linuxdoc-sgml (or did they switch to DocBook already?) but plain
html. Therefore it can't be an official linux howto and is not (yet?)
part of the official DLHP howtos. Which is sad, because it would
become part of most distributions automatically. So please,
if you translate it, make it conforming to the HOWTO guidelines.

Why ? Cannot someone translate and leave Terry to do the proofreading
and official release ? I believe it could be less time consuming for
him, and no responsibilities be violated...seems to me.

Is that possible or practical ? It seems something many are in need
of.

What I find misleading are the references to patching kernels.
Newcomers should get hold of 2.0.36 or 2.0.37 and avoid the patching.
I believe it is not recommendable to start right now with anything
older, but for sake of completion, I would just recommend the latest
2.0.x kernels (or the 2.2.x, it also fits) and skip the patching
instructions altogether. If anyone is using an older distribution
(you cannot stop people from doing it), then there is still reference
to a way to do that as well.

I don't know how the above was dealt with in the german version. And
it is only my opinion on the subject.

Hi Gerd,

if you are interested in an example configuration of AX25/TCP/IP-Stuff just
take a look at the web page of our Amateur radio server DB0EIN. It should be
reachable via the standard routers (we are connected to DB0EAM, DB0AIS as a
proxy should find it as well).

It is 44.130.14.70 (DB0EIN-8) - I hope I got that right from memory - and the
web page can be found from the homepage:

http://db0ein.ampr.org

You will find an english "Lazy Dog" there containing the configuration of
DB0EIN-8 as an example. It uses Kernel 2.0.35 with a baycom USCC card running
at 19200 baud to our flexnet digipeater.

I offered Terry to send him the Lazy Dog to be included to his documentation
but he never even answered my mail. Maybe you have a use for that thing.

If you can not reach our server I can post it via mail.

Regards,

Uwe - DG3OW @db0ein.#nds.deu.eu

ps.: da diese Mail auch in die Liste ging, halt Englisch...

I dont't think that any reasonable person can claim that the current
