Reversed text in Hebrew is a long issue in Adobe Flash, which fixed in the
recent years for Windows users, but Linux (and Mac?) users are still unable
to read it, and there is no (as far as I know) player-side script to
workaround this issue.

By the way - Flash on Linux is worse than running IE under Wine. I would
prefer broken HTML page with some workarounds as userscripts over
"beautiful" Flash but slow to process.

Is it so hard to program in HTML nowadays? All the features they use can be

1) Please do not top post. I had to rearrange the order of the replies
to make a sane quote that shows content.

2) At the top of the page is the Clalit phone number *2700. You should
definitely call and complain! If you don't then I will be mad at you!

3) At the top of the page is a link "Make Contact". But it is an
IE-only link! Make sure to mention this when you call, and stress that
_this_ is the reason that they are getting no complaints! People
cannot complain!

I study in Tel-Aviv. Part of the point I always raise is that a lot of
computers were converted to linux both due to cost and so that they can be used
as a cluster. I also sent as a reply to just about every mail that contains
word only data that I can't read it and if they want me to then that they
should send it as pdf. It's especially useful for things that they need me to
read ...

The upside of them being ignorant to linux is that they don't know that
openoffice can show most documents (it does fail rather measurably on math
though)

Another thing that may help is to go there, be nice and show her how easy it is
to produce pdf from the word document (you can install primopdf for her, it's
free, although not open source, and works as a virtual printer).

Where do you study, Micha? I do the same at the Technion, and most
organizations in the Technion have in fact started sending PDF. Only
the secretary of my faculty still sends Word documents, she insists
that nobody else complains therefore it is not a problem.

I write to these sites. I refuse to accept word documents from people. I've
gotten quite a few people used to sending me text or pdf instead of word. I'm
not sure if I'm the only cause but I've gotten several offices in my uni to
start sending PDFs along with the word documents. I've even sent several sites
code to correct their faulty html. I even go to the lengths of refusing to use
windows only course management sites and email interfaces in the places I

Don't remember which one of those but at the time when I was reading a bit to
help my wife in course she took all the books that talked about javascript,
dynamic html and css were explorer only. I've had to google extensively to find
more general solutions and it always required some dirty hacks to get the same
page looking exactly right on all browsers (especially when complex designs and
popup menus were involved). Didn't find one book that taught dynamic html and
javascript in a generic manner.

I'm not saying that it's a good one, but it's their side of the coin. Plus, if
you need that usb thing each time you log in then they can always say that it's
your fault that someone broke into your account because you left the usb key in
the computer.

Bad approach and I don't agree with it but gives them claims insurance probably.

I've been purchasing stuff from there using Firefox for years.
They had few firefox-incompatibilities and sent the user's password in
clear-text, but it wasn't 100% IE-only as you claim. There are much worse
cases.

you think that they care about your computer?

And if it's a hasp device, it can be hell to set it up, sometimes the machines
just decides it doesn't like it (especially if you stuck it in in the wrong
order with installing the driver) and unless you know what you are doing it's a
mess to fix.

Some time ago they issued padkey USB device that one must use to get access

http://www.orange.co.il/catalog/

I have written to them no less than four times on the subject, each
time at the request of a different Linux user who brought it to my
attention.

It gets worse! When I go to some of the ministries (Interior for
instance) the site displays in a tiny iFrame.

If you want to spread the word, you can write few paragraphs about it in
hebrew, which I'll post on http://israeliweb.blogli.co.il .

Then we can try to get the responsible person's feedback.

choose Ministry (say Ministry of transportation)
Press search
Click on any form in results section with type of form "Online"
