The features changed of course and therefor I upgraded it. It would have been a pity to leave it unmaintained. Especially since the QT frontend gives some eyecandy bonus. > I suggest that you use the old LGT only as a guiding philosophy for the > new one. Unfortunately I have the same problem (new job, finishing up my thesis...), so I cannot do much at the moment. Apart from that, my LyX experience is limited on what I need for my work; I don't know if that is what other people would expect. E.g., it took my half an our to reconstruct the formulae in the LGT, because I simply don't know mathed (Finally, my English is too bad to write a real good story). But it would of course be great if you would have some ideas, a storyboard, some screenshots, some text. Perhaps we can take the upgraded version of the LGT and improve it? > But I'm definitely glad to hear the LGT lives on! Some things never die ;-) Jürgen.

When I wrote the original LGT, I was using a Sun Sparc 5 with some old Netscape browser, and it took _forever_ to load one of those pages. In these days with 2 GHz processors, pop-ups (and blockers), PHP, and whatever else, I'm sure one of you kids can come up with something a lot spiffier. I suggest that you use the old LGT only as a guiding philosophy for the new one. Rewrite the whole thing (and grab all new screenshots) as necessary in order to show off LyX in the best light. My old xdvi shots with your new LyX shots look a bit funny. I might even be able to help a little bit if you want, though my time available to tinker with LyX over that last year has dropped to near zero :-( The hazards of real life intruding ... Re: lyx graphical tour
Angus Leeming wrote: > 'I strongly suggest you use the middle mouse button (in Netscape) to open > the image in a new browser window to avoid losing your place' Well, this is the original "historical" text. I guess the 1999 unix browsers were slightly less comfortable. Feel free to change this (and other things); my main focus has been the new screenshots and changes of the text where it was no more true. Additionally, I have added some comments about citation, because IMHO this is one of our strongest arguments. However, I don't stop you from improving it. Jürgen.

'I strongly suggest you use the middle mouse button (in Netscape) to open the image in a new browser window to avoid losing your place' Is there not a way to instruct the browser to open a new window? Stunning. One suggestion. Could you put a large, distinctive NEXT PAGE with a graphical arrow, clinking either of which would send you onward? The current Next Page is too subtle.
