1.1.5pre3-problems
Hi *! I just tried the quite new 1.1.5pre3 LyX. I recognized the newly inserted menu entries TOC and Refs. For my thesis I use a master document that includes all chapters (though it's article layout). When I click Refs, LyX tries to open all included documents (which succeeds, as far as I can recognize) but then gives a SIGSEGV. There's another problem with the "change bullet"-option. I cannot see, that a bullet changed (although it did in the correspondig DVI LyX created) when clicking one of the buttons LyX presents me... Another problem: selecting text with Shift-Ctrl-Arrow left/right sometimes gives "buggy" selections and causes LyX to segfault after typing backspace or the text that should replace the selection. Besides these, LyX still is a very great program. I can't imagine, how I would write my thesis without having it! cul8r, Frank -- web: http://www.FrankMahler.de/ mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
list environment
I have installed lyx 1.1.5pre1 on RedHat 6.2 and have got problems with the list environment which I didn't have before (lyx 1.1.4fix1 on Caldera 2.3). If the actual width of the label is longer than the default width, the label should extend into the first line (user guide). But it doesn't. The part of the label which exceeds the default width is printed over the beginning of the following text. With other words: The text doesn't move with the label, thus they are overlapping. This appears in dvi-view and in postscript-view als well as in the actual print. Is it a bugof the new version or is something else wrong with my RedHat-installation? Thanks for any hint in advance Gerhard Schuck P.S.: I've tried it with 1.1.5pre3 too, but the same problem appears.

Re: Failure
I am not sure if this will do what you want, but you can use \usepackage{lscape} in your preamble then, when you get to the page(s) you want to have landscape just do: \begin{landscape} ... %% can have here stuff that spands over several pages \end{landscape} It works without any problems, keeps page numbers etc in the right position, and I have used it to include pages with figures and tables in landscape orientation in a document with an otherwise portrait orientation. There is only one minor catch, though: as soon as you issue the \begin{landscape} you get a new page right there, and it seems that Latex cannot choose the break point by itself. I have done this directly in Latex, and I think I have also used it in Lyx by marking the \begin{landscape} to \end{landscape} as Latex (after includeing the \usepackage{lscape} in the preamble). Comments on lyx.1.1.5pre3 and layouts
Hi all lyx-user's First of all, I would like to say that I am impressive with the new version of lyx.1.1.5pre3 and I really appreciate all the lyx team effort. I have discovered a new feature that I really like it, that is the possibility of editing and inserted label on the text, I have to say that I am currently using lyx.1.1.4pre1 as the latest stable version and perhaps I have missed the new feature in the meantime. I was wondering if this feature is supposed to work too in the math-mode, because it doesn't work for me, and this would be really nice. Relating to layouts I have several questions 1. How is it possible to make a style that allows you to insert a latex command without argument, I'd like to insert the style in a similar way as insert table of contents, just a command. At this moment when I selected the desired style I have to put a protected blank space, Ctrl-space, to avoid to write something. 2. How can I create a style layout for a latex command with, let's say, five arguments ?. I am trying to write a lyx layout for a specific cv class, and in this class there are many latex commands with a different number of arguments. For example, there are commands like \foocommand{}{}{}{}{X}{foo} that I'd like to support with a style layout Thanks in advanced Best regards

TeX styles
We have an in-house LaTeX style, and our TeX guru has made a nice LyX layout for it. I would now like to add some useful macros so that important features of the documentation can be inserted in a standard way which fits in with the layout and style, but it appears to be impossible to add a Lyx style at less than paragraph granularity. Specifically, can I apply a macro so that e.g. a user command is LaTeXed as \inhouse_command{ls -l}, and is displayed on the screen as e.g. Font Typewriter / Color green, or as a box (like a label) *without* a paragraph break? If so, how. If this is not possible at the moment (1.1.4fix3), is this planned for future versions? Re: 1.1.5pre3-problems
I worked on the french internationalization, and I found two minor problems: - the word « instead » which appears when LyX changes colours when the allocation fails does not translate in what I put in fr.po - IMHO, the identification of the language in the mini-buffer should make appear the langguage keyword as it appears in the Layout-Document menu (i.e., withouts capitals); moreover, the keyword default should appear when default is selected (here I get « American » always because the french.sty package is called by the class, and thus becomes default. Otherwise it compiles with the same warnings as pre1, and seems to work fine. list environment
Is it a bug of the new version or is something else wrong with my RedHat-installation? Thanks for any hint in advance Gerhard Schuck P.S.: I've tried it with 1.1.5pre3 too, but the same problem appears.

I already copied the file to my home dir. The problem is that I want to change the margins AND preserve the mirroring of the margins. The layout-aper dialog lets you only change the left and right margins, not for example the inner and outer margins. When you print double sided, the left margin of the even pages has to be equal to the right margin of the odd pages and the other way around. I want to achieve this, but do not yet know how. __ Martijn Brouwer [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hope this helps, Ramon On Thu, 25 May 2000, Juergen Vigna wrote: > I'll send this to the User-List as I know there are some people who > know a LOT more of LaTeX then myself.
