proof in Lyx

How can I make inferences like :

 A D

There exists a "proof.sty" package with a "\infer{}{}" command, but if
A,B,C,D,E are big math formulaes, I can't use "\infer{}{}" in math mode

there a solution ?
Can I temporarily redefine \frac by \infer ? How can I do this ?

Any RedHat 7 users out there?

2000-10-10 Thread Paul E Johnson

As noted in this list last week, RH7 is distributed with a bogus
compiler, gcc-2.96. Lyx does not compile, there are all kinds of errors
pointing back to the standard template library of c++. I've filed a bug
report at RedHat, and expect they may fix it.

If you are stuck with RH7, what do you do?

1. Wait for RedHat to issue new gcc?
2. Remove gcc-2.96 and retrofit gcc-2.95.2?
3. Get somebody to build a statically linked lyx?

I'm leaning to option number 2, but don't know if it will harm my system

choose paragraph layout enumerated. write 1. with enter at
the end of the line.
choose Layout->change environment depth, write your next line.
you can use the shortcut alt-p right cursor or left cursor for
the other direction.

Known problems and available fixes (if present ;-)

Out of environmental space

When calling the batch file RUNLYX.BAT you get the above error message. Make
sure you have enough environment space configured on your system in
C:\CONFIG.SYS. I recommend 1536 Bytes, so you need a line

shell=C:\command.com C:\ /e:1536 /p

in your C:\CONFIG.SYS, assuming that COMMAND.COM resides in C:\ on your
system! If COMMAND.COM is not present in C:\ on your system it is usually
present in the main Windows directory, i.e. C:\WINDOWS by default. Then you
have to set

shell=C:\WINDOWS\command.com C:\WINDOWS /e:1536 /p

in your C:\CONFIG.SYS.

I hope this helps,

-Mario

How about something really useful? Trace the compilation errors and
supply patches.

Chances are, the problem is not that there is something "wrong" with
gcc-2.96 - but more likely it is due to the greater standards
conformance. In other words, you're most likely seeing bugs in lyx -
and patches would certainly be welcomed.

So maybe you should simply try to install another one?

Probably the best option.

Lyx does not display all math symbols

2000-10-10 Thread Benoit Pelletier

Hello,

I recently installed lyx-1.1.5fix1 on my Mandrake 7.1 machine using the
rpm provided on the lyx home page.

Some of the math symbols do not show on the lyx window; the integral and
the sum (I did not try them all) don't show for sure.

Any idea of what could be wrong?
Thanks,

Benoit Pelletier

Ok, I found the problem; probably conflicting fonts; I removed drakfont
from /etc/X11/fs/config and it worked.

Sorry about that; I whould have thought of it before.

LyX under 7.0

2000-10-10 Thread Mate Wierdl

I do not see why people cannot use the rpm compiled on a 6.2 system.
Better than switching to texmac or whatever.
