Problem editing mailboxes with VoiceOver.
Hi all, I have a strange behaviour with VoiceOver on my iPhone when editing mailboxs. Even though VoiceOver says draggable. When I hit the top left to reorder mailboxs I am unable to move the mailbox to the top. Any help with this appreciated. Kind regards, Mr Sadam Ahmed. New to OS X: How do I open a new Finder window?
Hi, I have inherited my daughter's Macbook Pro she used in college. I've been a Windows user all these years and I'm finding simple tasks like copying files from one place to another a bit daunting. I understand I can use command-c to copy and command-v to paste, but is there a way to get the source folder in one Finder window and the destination folder into another Finder window? (using VoiceOver of course) I've been able to select files but then I've been navigating painfully back to the sidebar to select the destination folder for the paste operation. Please let me know if there's a better way. If this is explained in the VoiceOver manual, just let me know that and I'll look for it again. Thanks very much. --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html or at the public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/. RE: New to OS X: How do I open a new Finder window?
If you press command shift C you will open a computer window very much like Window My Computer and you can navigate anywhere from there whilst your original window will stay open. Actually though what I do ismake aliases to popular locations like books or music on my desktop to save time. You should also remember command shift H will open your home folder. Command shift o will open your Document folder. Command option L will open your downloads folder. Remember that unlike in Windows you need to have Finder in focus for these commands to work. You can then either use Windows Chooser to move between these windows or use command accent to cycle through Finder windows. Actually you can open a new window with cmd n, then go any ware. I often use cmd shift h from the finder then cmd n to open a new one. Take care. On Jun 12, 2013, at 9:10 AM, Martin G. Skillsoft Web Site and Java
I am running OSX 10.6.8 and will need to access the skillsoft.com web site which says it works with safari but isn't working with this system yet. When you choose safari, it has nice clear instructions on what to do to make things work. First, you go in to safari, clear the cache and make sure java and javascript are enabled. They already were. The next thing is to open a new finder window which I think I did by clicking on finder's icon in the dock, going to the go menu and opening that which ultimately gets you to javapreferences. At that point, things went down hill. Javapreferences opened and presented an empty table and that's as far as I could get. The only thing left to do was force the window closed with command-q. What you are supposed to do is find something called network and perform somee tasks such as deleting files, there. It acts like java is either very sick or possibly not even installed. Any ideas are appreciated. The problem almost certainly isn’t with Java itself, but is with VoiceoVer’s poor support for this particular app, and Java-based GUIs in general. Sadly, I don’t know the specifics of how you can resolve this one. I’ve never done more than give the preferences a cursory look myself, and avoid Java whenever i can. Wish I and better news, Zack. IPhone and GMail
Hi there, I know this is more of an IPhone question, but this has become a mystery to me and I'm seeking a good solution to the problem. Question. I've had a couple of email accounts going on my IPhone, since I first got it, with no problems. One of them is my gmail account. Whenever I'd delete messages from it on my IPhone, it would be no problem and I wouldn't see them again. I just got back from being out of town, and to my surprise, when I turned on my computer, all 2000 gmail messages that were supposedly deleted came up on my computer. Why? No settings on the IPhone had been changed. What do I need to do to prevent this from happening in the future? There was one time last week where I heard my IPhone say something like, Messages could not be moved to trash folder. I've not heard that any more. This is very sudden. I have always used IMap settings on the phone. If my computer downloads the messages, there's no problem. VoiceOver and IOS7.
Greetings, I'm considering registering as a developer so that I can have access to the IOS7 beta. A little cursory Googling suggests that this initial beta is very rough around the edges. Still, I'd like to provide input about IOS7 before it is released. My question (if anyone can respond without violating any NDAs) is whether it is realistic for a totally blind person to install and use IOS7 on his/her primary phone at this point in the IOS7 development cycle. If answering here is getting into sticky territory, any/all private notes would be greatly appreciated! TIA, and best regards. Re: IPhone and GMail
Hi Jim, I recently had the second issue you mentioned, the one where the iPhone would say, unable to delete message when I attempted to delete any emails from my gmail account. My other email accounts including iCloud and Exchange did not exhibit this issue. Here's what fixed it for me on my ATT iPhone 4S running the latest IOS6. This assumes you are using the native IOS6 mail client, not the gmail app or other mail client. Also, I'm not sure if this will resolve your issue of the deleted items still showing up on your computer, but it's worth checking. 1. On your iPhone go to settings / mail contacts calendar. 2. Double-tap the mischievous gmail account to open it. 3. Double-tap the Account button to open it. 4. Double-tap the Advanced button to open the advanced settings. 5. Select the item labeled Deleted mailbox. This item should have a mailbox name associated with it. If it does not, double-tap and you will be presented with a list of possible mailboxes. On my iPhone this includes the local iPhone trash folder as well as the full list of server-side mailboxes for the chosen gmail account. 6. Select the desired mailbox for your deleted items, probably a trash folder in the list of gmail folders. 7. Scrub back to the Accounts page where you will want to double-tap the Done button to save your settings. In my case the mailbox selection for the deleted mailbox had somehow gotten removed. Adding it back fixed my issue. Well, I can live with bugs, but wondered generally how rough it was for a VO user. Bugs are one thing, but rendering the phone unusable is quite another. I understand that it is easier to downgrade back to 6 than it was to downgrade to prier versions. Thanks for all replies so far. Re: aliases VS. copy
You got it. I have several of the little buggers on my desk top all pointing to folders on both of my drives. Think of these as a link to a file/folder stored any ware on your system including eternal drives. so instead of going to /volumes/music/itunes/library/music I can just click the iTunes library alius on my desk top and I'm there. You have to move the thing from there you created the alius to the desk top though but it's all worth it. Re: VoiceOver and IOS7.
I suspect that Sarah is mostly correct. Its murky ground here. The fact that IOS7 and mavrics beta code is available to anyone who opts to fork over $99 to Apple is public knowledge, as are many up-coming features. I would think that such discussions are topical. If I signed the NDA and installed IOS7, and experienced problems, I suspect that I am bound by the NDA not to dump that kind of information on a public list, which is why I was inviting private contact. Thanks again for all who have responded both publicly and privately.
