Thought I would let you know the solution was to disable the guest
account. I dont plan to let anyone near my Mac so this will work great.
Thanks for the great help you have given me. I will probably be back for
more. But I am taking time off for a bit. Maybe just for the night. :)

If I go back to the "List of Users" option, is there a way to land directly

Re: Pages improvement

2014-04-19 Thread Nicholas Parsons
Hi Ann,

Yes, using VO-COMMAND-HOTSPOT reports the correct information. It's just if I
navigate to the actual paragraph styles button that it reads it incorrectly.
But if I interact with the paragraph styles button it reads the correct
information, and this is obviously what gets reported by VoiceOver when doing
VO-Command-Hotspot.

Great to hear the hotspots are saved in the document.

Re: Shortcut to Login?

OK Hi!
I get what you are after so had a good look at my settings!
So under users and groups I stopped guest's being allowed to log in and only
got my name as being the only user!
I also got the show the sleep, restart and shut down option on the log in
screen set!
So When I start up my Mac it always puts me on the Secure text field for my
password type that in and press enter and away I go!
Of course if needed I can arrow passed the Secure text field to the Sleep,
restart and shut down buttons to use them!

Hi,

To set those times, use your tab key. That is, once you've entered the
Description and the MAC address of the device you wish to limit, press the tab
key to move between the time fields. Once in one of the time fields, you need
to enter the time in the format "8:45 pm" or whatever time you wish, of course.
It seems to require the complete time with the colon and the am or pm.

Timed Access Control in Time Capsule

2014-04-19 Thread Jeff Berwick
Hi all,

Has anybody out here had occasion to work with the Timed Access Control in Time
Capsule?

I am getting terribly frustrated as I am unable to set the access times when
selecting the "Between" option. If anybody has conquered this, please let me
know how.

I can get my son to make the changes and he is quite willing; however, at some
point he may wish to not cooperate and I don't want to be dependant on him. :)

Thx,
Jeff

Not that I'm aware of off the top of my head. The easiest way I can come up

Tim,
Maybe I misunderstood. If I am set to "List of Users" I have to
navigate to my account then I only have to enter password.

If I am set to "Name & Password" then I have to enter both name and

If I go back to the "List of Users" option, is there a way to land
directly on the password field when I turn the Mac on? Just looking for
ways to reduce number of keystrokes.

The other thing that you could do with songs on removable media is to just
QuickLook them. That is, when focused on the song, in the Finder, just press
the spacebar and it should just play that one selected song.

Hi,

There is no need for any "Auto Fill" thing to be set. As long as you have your

Re: iTunes inquiry

2014-04-19 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

As David mentioned, iTunes is not set up to play that way, but there is a
workaround or two.

1. Enter the song title in the Search area and then press return. This will
place only that one song into the Music table. Thus, when you hit the play
button, there's only one song to play.

or

2. This one is a little trickier but cleaner.

* Put your songs into List view if not already there.
* Interact with the table.
* Press cmd-a to Select All.
* Press VO-shift-m to bring up the Contextual menu and choose "Uncheck
Selection".
* Navigate to the song you wish to play and press return

Only that one song is played. You can also move to any other song and press
return and only that next song will play.

To add to this second method. Let's say that you wish to play three songs only
from that playlist or album. After you've unchecked all the songs, navigate
through the list and check only the three you wish to play. Now, if you stop
interacting with the table, navigate left to the Play button that is just
beside the list of Playlists, and press it, then only those three songs will
play.

Remember that you've unchecked these though, as it may be frustrating at a
later date when you wish to play the entire album or playlist.

HTH.

Re: Hotspots and Web Spots in Safari

2014-04-19 Thread Alex Hall
The first one. A forum had five responses on it, and my web spot was on the
heading after the last response. Then the forum got a new response, making it
six. My web spot moved to that sixth response, which is where the heading used
to be. One more update and my web spot was completely gone.

Re: Shortcut to Login?

2014-04-19 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

You can usually just enter the first few letters of the username that appears
in the Login screen then press return. It will then ask for your password and
you're in. So, even if you had, for example, Tim, Robert and Barb as users on
your Mac, when the login screen was active, you could just enter "r o", press
return then your password and you'd be in.

HTH.

That's a good idea Cara. I've seen that happen in the past when I've

Re: Hotspots and Web Spots in Safari

2014-04-19 Thread Cara Quinn
HI Alex,

Webspots do not work the same way as hotspots. Webspots are accessible by VO
even when they are off-screen.

However, if the element that the webspot refers to is no longer present on the
page, I'm not sure the webspot would still be present. Are you saying that your
webspot arbitrarily moved from an element you set it on, to one you did not
when the webpage changed?

-Or are you saying that the page changed and the previous webspot and page
element were still there?

Thanks,

Cara :)
