Weird thing with my printer
Hi guys. Ever since I updated my Mac to the latest under Yosemite, I can’t use my printer any more. What’s weird is that it calls up the printer proxy, says the name of the printer, and then proceeds to never send anything to the printer. The printer works fine on my husband’s Vista computer, but my Mac is ignoring it. The printer is a Cannon 216 Series. Any ideas? It worked fine before. So I propose that we create a thread for people to write up different inconsistencies they might find for others to replicate the issue so that those who have feedback assistant can report this to the engineers. The idea is for the more commonly occuring bugs to be squashed, by sheer number of reports. Some will not have the time to write the thing down properly but can definetely participate since legally those discussions are possible. I first will need to ask a few people, then confirm this is possible since all of us are voice over users and all of us want voice over to be as good as it can get. I believe there should be a few rules: 1-no feature requests as this would explode the thread 2-When someone finds an issue, there should be a structured method of explaining the process so that others can easily replicate it 3-All should be in the same thread in order not to hijack the mailing list with everyone reporting issues, which can clutter the list from certain everyday technical questions other non public beta users may have. Re: Having issues adding songs to a playlist in apple music.
Hi, I've only just come to kind of, sort of, get a grip with the playlists in Apple Music- so I can try to help! I go to the new button in iTunes, and select that I want a new playlist. then it puts me in a scroll area, (if doing this on the Mac), and you interact with that. You then have the name of your playlist as a header, and another area. you'll want to interact with the header. you get options like, play, shuffle, and so on. In this case, you want to find the edit button. Then you can add songs or albums to the list. You'll want to make sure your iCloud music library is checked, as it seems Apple Music and your own music must be in there, in order for a playlist to be created. to do this, go to preferences (command+comma), and in the general area, make sure you're signed into the same apple ID that you have the music membership with, and make sure that iCloud library is checked. Assuming all that checks out, you are back in what Voiceover calls the album grid. Choose an album that you want from there, and vo+shift+M on it to get additional options. One of these is add to playlist submenu assuming you have other playlists. If you vo+space on that, you should (in theory), see all the playlists you have, including the empty one you're now trying to fill with songs. Do this with as many albums as you want, and scroll all the way to the right when finished to hit the done button. If everything is working as it should be, your playlist should appear in the playlists tab in apple Music. Good luck! Rachel. Re: Having issues adding songs to a playlist in apple music.
Oh wow, thanx for the info. I didn't have my Icloud music option checked, so that could've been a part of the problem. I was trying to do this using my IPhone, so not sure how that differs, but will have a look at it now that I've turned that on and it's now taking what seems like an eternity to upload my music. Good luck! Rachel. Duxbury Printer Help with Virtual Windows Image
Hello everyone, The subject line is quite clear. I have installed Duxbury on my virtual image of Windows, but I cannot figure out how to ad a “virtual USB” port for the embosser? I am mirroring my Windows configuration because this is presume to be ideal, but my efforts are futile. Basically, I do not know what to do since I do not see any virtual ports listed in my printer properties for the Generic Text Printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using the same version of Windows 7 on both my laptop and my virtual image of Windows on my iMac. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. P.S Thanks to the person who posted how to batch convert files with Amadeus Pro a year ago. I found the advice quite helpful from the archives. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Apple TV Connection Question
So... what I did is, I have a surround sound theater system which has HDMI in, and HDMI out. So I took one cord, ran out of the Apple TV, into the HDMI1 source on the receiver, then I ran out of the receiver's HDMI out, to the HDMI on my TV itself. So, what this allows me to do is, I now can basically pipe all HDMI data being sent out the Apple TV into my receiver before it hits my TV. This way, for example, I can turn my TV completely off, yet still get sound out my receiver surround speakers throughout the room, Then, if I want! to actually see the picture side of it, all I have to do is turn on my TV, set its source to HDMI, and boom! I'm up and running. It's a really really sweet way of doing it in my opinion. Frankly, I loved my Apple TV before, but since I've gotten this receiver, which is my very first 5.1 dolby/prologic surround unit, you'd not believe! the difference it has made! It's totally spoiled me! OK, as for the soundbar, I am not totally sure. I think it depends on which one you get. Generally though, from what I understand, yes. They do have HDMI on them. I can check for you to be totally sure. I got a friend who has one, so let me call 'em real quick before it gets later, and I'll check for ya. Re: playlists and artists in apple music
I find the same issue i.e album by album. However, in my music, artist, if you interact and scroll down the context menu, there is two options, one of them is to put the artist in a playlist. Maybe this will be possible in a later version of Apple Maps. We need an option to «view all» button as standard. Apple Music always land on this stupid «my music button» and therefore only «my music button» songs will be added to the playlist when putting the artist in a playlist. Therefore album by album. Re: Weird thing with my printer
Hi, When you’re in System Prefs, select the printer, then press the Open Print Queue button. See if the jobs are all being held again. If they are, check in the Toolbar to determine if the printer is paused. Sometimes, I’ve had to pause then resume the printer then all the jobs get sent to the printer. The other option is to go to the AppStore, check for updates and see if there are any updates for your printer through Apple. If there are none through Apple, then go onto the web, to your printer manufacturer’s site. Check if there are any new drivers available for your printer model that work with Yosemite. If none of that works, you can usually tell the printer to use the Generic Printer Software. this is done during the initial setup process, although, if your printer is recognized with all its model info during the setup process, the Generic Printer Software shouldn’t be necessary. RE: Mac mail issue under Yosemite
Hello Graham, Unfortunately, I have encountered this issue in the past, although not for quite some time. This seems to happen more to gMail accounts than to any other but I have herd of it on other servers, as well. Personally, when this happens to me, I open my trusty version of Outlook on my Windows PC and then delete the stubborn messages as Outlook does not seem to have this problem with any servers of which I am aware. However, I realize that this is most likely not an option for you so I have two suggestions: Of course, I am assuming that you have rebooted your Mac and have attempted to rebuild the Mailboxes. 1. Make certain that you have a stable Wifi connection and that you give the Mail application plenty of time to move all of the messages to the Trash folder before closing it. 2. Log into your actual server account, via your favorite web browser, and delete the stubborn messages, manually. Re: another mail client?
It probably won’t surprise you to learn that I receive RSS feeds via email, using rss2email, in effect bringing back the functionality of Apple’s RSS support in Mail (which I actually thought was quite leet) but with the added advantage that the format is open and thus the messages are shareable and can be handled by any client. Rss2email runs under cron on a remote system with an MTA installed, so not exactly the easiest project for a desktop Mac, but if you have a server, it’s just the ticket. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group.
