Hi. Selling a mint 16gb Apple iPad mini. Includes lightning cable,
charging cube, and includes a smart cover, lifeproof waterproof case,
and a generic case which is like the Griffin Survivor but which
actually works much better!

Shoot me an e mail to make me an offer.

Thanks,

2015-07-30 Thread Stacey Robinson
When I had my White Macbook with lion on it, I had somehow set things so that
when I backspaced it would take out the character that I’d just put in.
How do I fix this on my macbook air?

Accessibility is quite good, that's the price you'll have to find it either on
the air website or in the Apple Store, can't remember where it is.

Hwllo all,

I am wondering about the overall accessibility for vo with office 2016 on the
Mac. I am thinking of getting it since I use the windows version at work, and
other major endeavors. I use pages and text edit for some other things, but
still find there are situations when ms word is necessary. if I don’t have
access to office 365, how would I get office 2016 without getting 365? thanks.
I would say what I really need are word and excell. I can do without outlook.
thanks.

Re: Notes App Suggestions

2015-07-30 Thread Emilio
Hello everyone,

Scrivener is not free, and I believe it is about $50.
Another suggestion for notes that I like is using NV Alt in conjunction
with Simple Note.
NV Alt is free and can sync with your Simple Note account, which is a free
app you can download to your iPhone.
I have my NV Alt notes database housed in Dropbox, and I sync this to a
DevonThink database, so I can review notes there as well, but this is
probably a little too much information.
If one searches Google for both programs you will be able to find them
easily.

Hope this has been helpful - Cheers!

Re: Skype

2015-07-30 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hey Devon. That's why I keep using Skype version 6.15 because as Apple's slogan
says, everything just works. I get incoming messages using Growl, everything. I
know Microsoft keeps threatening to not allow users to use older versions of
Skype, but that's all they are. Just threats. And I hate how there's no speak
notifications feature in notification center so I'll continue to use this
version until 1, there is a feature that will speak notifications even if
Voiceover is turned off or 2, Microsoft becomes too A-hole-ish and actually
follows through their threats and stops support for older versions. If anyone
wants this old version, let me know and I'll happily send it to you guys
through dropbox.

If you've already created the game then if you press tab it should put you in

Let me know if you need more help. It's harder to explain how to do it via

Re: login on a remote disc

2015-07-30 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Normally Time Machine will mount the drive, do the backup and then
dismount the drive. There should be nothing preventing you from also
mounting the same drive yourself and poking around in it. As far as URL
formatting, if you really want to you can embed the password after the
username separated by a colon. So to mount my drive I would do something
like

afp://cblouch:password@192.168.14.15

where you would replace that made up IP with the IP or DNS name of your
machine.

And that I can delete them like a usb-disc with command+e.

But the situation here is something else/more complicated:
I want to mount my remote time-machine that is stored on a nas-partition.
For all the data-partitions on the nas, I login wit user william and a pasword.
But, a remote time-machine needs a other login and pasword so that the
Time-Machine program on the mac can use this partition for automatic backups.
With command+k I could type a adres but I don’t know how to specify a username
and paswoord so that I can login correctly for time-machine.

But after all, Perhaps I don’t need it anymore since mounting a remote
time-machine-backup as a folder in the finder seems not possible. I mean: the
folder-structure is visible in the finder while time-machine is making a
backup. If Time-Machine finish backing up, the folder to mount in the finder
isn’t longer valid.

The only alternative to use time-machine with a remote disc is to use the
time-machine program. This is mostly accessible I think but not so comfortable.

If there are any hints to mount a remote time-machine as a local folder
structure with all the backups, it would be nice to hear of you.

Many thanx for all the given reactions already.

disconnect the remote disk and login with another user.
In the finder, I can see a disconnect button next to the name of the user that
is used for login in to the disc.
But this button can’t be activated with voiceover (vo+space)
Any hints to login with another user on a remote disc are very welcome.

Kind regards,
William Windels

Re: login on a remote disc

2015-07-30 Thread William Windels
hoi Chris and others,
thx for the response.
With command+k,
I have just discovered that username@ip-adres brings also up the login as
dialoge.
But, the pasword, I can’t give as a parameter.
But next to that, and if I understand well of you, the backups are not ready to
browse in the finder if no backup is made on that moment.

Is this right?

Kind regards,
William Windels

Re: login on a remote disc

2015-07-30 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Hmm. I do network time machine backups to another Mac which shares out a
disk image on its external drive so I can control the amount of space
time machine sucks up. So my time machine backup volume just pops up on
my desktop while running and then goes away. The first time I back up to
this remote volume time machine prompt me for the username and password,
which is just the same credentials I use via command-K to mount the
volume. Once mounted I can meander through the directory tree of time
machine backups.

The only alternative to use time-machine with a remote disc is to use the

If there are any hints to mount a remote time-machine as a local folder

Re: login on a remote disc

2015-07-30 Thread William Windels
Hello all,
I try to explain further:
I new already that I could see connected servers in the finder e.g. with
command+shift+k.

I am curious if the procedure to login on a network-drive is accessible.
In my situation, I am logged in on a network-drive but I should be able to

In the finder, I can see a disconnect button next to the name of the user

But this button can’t be activated with voiceover (vo+space)
Any hints to login with another user on a remote disc are very welcome.

Re: Skype

2015-07-30 Thread E.T.

Alex,
Thanks. I do not plan to use it much either but decided it might be
handy. I have a friend down under who wants to use Skype now and then.

I want to make sure I have settings set properly. I think I do so I
will give it a try soon.

Is the Handoff and Continuity function only for Apple apps? If that
is the case, I will not be able to switch from Mac or iPhone, right? Thanks.

I can safely say that if you wait 3 months the notes app will be able to do
folders, which could be notebooks.

Scrivener is an excellent drafting app. It is more suited to writing large
documents like books etc. because it lets you outline and then fill in the
outlines and's etc.

when you get to preferences you want to go to accounts. after selecting
whatever account you created you can then arrow or tab through the screen name
password and smtp info. on mine the default sound was an air plane taking off
when an email has been sent. did you hear that or some other sound when you
tried sending your test email. in the account settings will be one button in
the advanced tab that says include this mailbox when checking mail. make sure
that one is clicked. i'm sure there are other members who will be able to give
clearer instructions, max

make sure that the checkbox is checked for Show Connected Servers, any network
drives will show up as an icon on your Desktop whereby the cmd-e for Eject

Hello all,
I am curious if the procedure to login on a network-drive is accessible.
In my situation, I am logged in on a network-drive but I should be able to

In the finder, I can see a disconnect button next to the name of the user that
is used for login in to the disc.
But this button can’t be activated with voiceover (vo+space)
Any hints to login with another user on a remote disc are very welcome.

Re: best word processor for mac and voiceover.

2015-07-30 Thread Alex Hall
It depends on what you need. Advanced formatting, the ability to insert
footers, all that? Pages is your cheapest bet. Something more basic, including
fonts, links, and other rich text features (but not the advanced options of
Pages), and Text Edit will do just fine. The latter is included on all Macs by
default, whereas Pages is in the Mac App Store. It costs $20 if your Mac is
older than fall 2013, otherwise it's free.
