Hi Debbie,

Thanks for sharing that link. It looks like a great website. However, when I
try and convert it gives me an error that says converting music from Youtube is
not possible in my region. I’m in California. Where are you from, by chance? If
it works for you, perhaps I can use a VPN.

Usually when I need some audio from Youtube, I have no problem using Loopback
to record from Safari into Garage Band. Now, though, I'm working on a radio
demo and I need to download songs, and I figure it will take forever to record
each individual song only for me to end up using a 3-second clip.
So, can anyone recommend a good way to download Youtube videos? I used to use
anything2mp3.com but that doesn't work for me anymore.

IF it supports batch conversion and SoundCloud URL's, that's a huge plus.

Issue With Voice Over Resetting Voices on Mojave after System Updates.

2018-11-09 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Hi All

Recently I upgraded my iMac 2015 to Mojave. At first, it was great but every
time I do a system update, Voice Over keeps reverting all of its voices such
as the Keyboard voice, the menu voice and it's default voice back to
Australian Karen. I have to go into the VO Utility and set them all back to
Alex which is my preferred voice.

Any assistance is really appreciated as this is starting to drive me crazy.

Thanks

Debbie

Interact then start selecting with the first item by pressing
command- control-option-return. Use VO and up or down arrow as needed to select
other items and press the same key combination.

I can only speak for the mac. It's perfectly accessible on the mac.

positives of chrome on the mac are that it works with very ocasional websites
that do not work in safari.

It has adobe flash integrated.

It can sync favourites with my droid if I want it too, which I don't.

and it doesn't crash.

Drawbacks are:

It doesn't work with some sites that work in safari and has a particular
aversion to loading large web pages.

It crashes voiceover wen using the item chooser.

It doesn't have the bookmarks bar and associated shortcut keys.

It doesn't have an article reader.

I'm taking a two pronged approach to web browsing right now but that isn't
really convenient either.

Best,

I just use safari on IOS, but I am in a real tugawar over browsers on my mac
now. Chrome is 100% accessible and negates the need to keep updating flash for
things like cpatcha solving.

Safari under Yosemite is throwing up all sorts of spurious crash errors
beginning with "safari web content quit unexpectedly". This is severely
impacting my ability to get things done.

Right now chrome is my default, but I'm finding that some sites, particularly
extremely large web pages, won't load under chrome, but will in safari. On the
other hand, some buttons and controls on websites will click under chrome, but
not on safari. Most often, if something doesn't work on one, it won't work on
either, but the instances of one working but not the other are high enough to
justify the hellatious nuisance of juggling two browsers.

I'm just glad they both work well enough to make browser juggling feasible or
I'd be barred from some of my most used sites.

It’s in Navigation in the VoiceOver Utility.

Hi Sadam

Personally, I would recommend making a full iTunes back of your phone and then
you have the option to restore if you find the beta to be too unstable for your
general use. Or, if you have more than one iDevice, I’d use the secondary
device for the betas.

Subject: I'm Blacklisted From EU Right of Withdrawal Refunds

Whether temporarily or permanently, I don’t yet know, but it would appear that
Apple have blacklisted me from no-questions-asked refunds, as described here:
http://readwrite.com/2015/01/13/apple-blocks-app-store-refund-abusers

I’ve only used the facility once to return an inaccessible Mac app from the
MAS. However, it seems that after a justified refund of an iOS app, now in
progress, which I explicitly indicated was for accessibility reasons, my
account is in the blacklisted state and I can no longer buy apps without waving
my rights (which I’m fairly sure verges on the illegal if not actually).

If you are hoping, as I was, that this refund process might help you rightfully
return digital products that are not fit for purpose because they are
inaccessible, you might have to think again. I’d just arranged things to make
more use of this feature, by turning off automatic downloads and removing every
app from my devices and iTunes, with the intention of testing every incoming
app and ultimately ending up only with those apps which should justifiably be
on my devices and on my account because they were accessible. Sadly, this
doesn’t seem to be possible now. I of course think it should. We shouldn’t be
paying for apps which aren’t accessible, merely because it’s easy to do so and
hard to avoid.

I’ll let you know if my account ever ceases to be blacklisted. If you have any
information, let me know. It’s entirely possible the normal state of affairs
will resume after my outstanding refund is complete, but I’d love to hear if
anyone else has had this issue after just two refunds.

Cheers,
Sabahattin

So it might be some lack of speed.

I have a few comments on this.

First, you seem to only want to hear what you want to hear. Joanne's

response was right on and I'm fully behind that. Bashing her and then

one-upping her by telling her she should take it off list (so your

reply gets the last response, basically) is kind of pointless.

Second, for someone so corporate oriented, I'd expect you to know how

to write. I didn't understand parts of your message because you were

using weird punctuation all over the place to try to get weird

inflections out and show how frustrated you are. Please, let your

words speak for you. If you're bothered, find some word choice to

explain that, but don't bombard me with punctuation ment to change the

way my speech reads to get the point across. I find that irritating,

pointless and usually degrades from the value of the message.

Now, on to the actual content of your message:

The apple employee should never have even went this far with you. The

problem was that he probably couldn't just hang up on you and wasn't

really sure how to handle the call. If you want to speak to people

about employment, find the right department. Apple call-center

employees do not need to know where all the call centers are, nor do

they need to know exactly how you would get employed. Chances are

there are various routes of progression up to senior advisor.

Secondly, one does not just become a leader at any company. You need

to demostrate proper leadership skills and have the experience to back

it. I can't say whether or not you have those, but just expecting to

be up higher because -you- feel like you'd be a good fit is insane at

best.

Finally, as much as you may not want to hear this, Apple really

doesn't care if you're going to relocate and neither should the call

center employee. If you find a job opening and apply for it, you can

start talking about relocation; sometimes companies will help you. But

to assume that you could provide so much to apple that they should

just elevate you to someone who wants to hire you when you call the

accessibility line is a bit out there. There are just as many people

as qualified as you and more people more qualified than you. While you

might do well at Apple, you need to get the job just as anyone else would.

I would not expect any company to be able to tell you how to get

employed and what you need to do; after all, this is not their job. I

would not expect a call center technission to be able to tell you who

you should even talk to to become employed, because again this is not

their field. If you wanted to call with a technical question, that's

their job. Anything outside their department is not really their job.

I would not expect a call center representative to know anything about

pbx or whether or not you could work from home. Finally, asuming that

the call center was indeed authorized to transfer you to whatever

department you wish, many times they do not know how to get in touch

with the hr department, exactly where in the hr department they should

send some inquiring lunatic looking for a job and they aren't required

to know this. Apple is a huge company and they are able to transfer

you to the places where you need to go, nothing more.

Thanks,

To my knowledge, it works for sighted users. At least, I haven't seen anything
about it not working, and I follow four or five Mac news sites daily via
Twitter, so anything like that usually shows up in my feed at some point.

RE: login automatically is diabled

2014-12-09 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Hi Joe

Go into your seccurity or privacy settings, I can't exactly remember which one,
and disable the option to use your iCloud password for logging on to your Mac.
You will then need to create a separate password to use on your Mac. You can
use the same password as your iCloud account if you wish, as the Mac doesn't
know the two passwords are the same. Now that's done, you can now enable
automatic logon.

Hope that helps

Hi,

this is a sore-point amongst many, although I'm not one of them. I stopped
using the Sidebar right after it was no longer the default in iTunes. Using
keyboard shortcuts, I find it even quicker then with the Sidebar anyway.

Hello Andrew,

The Sources list has completely gone. The command that used to make it
appear no longer works. Try pressing VO-Space on the More button and you'll
find some of the things you had in Sources. I find I have to bring the mouse
and do VO-Shift-Space to select an option after clicking the More button.

I don't agree the mac can't get the job done because it can. Its just
nice to have the best of both worlds and the mac with Vmware Fusion or
Bootcamp can do this very well. But if like me you have a Windows
machine then why not use it while it lasts.

RE: three operating system on mac

2014-08-05 Thread Debbie April Yuille
Please don't miss understand me, I love the Mac, I have one but I believe
that if I'm lucky enough to be able to afford windows and a second computer,
than I should use them. I'm from Australia and I find the transcription
website that I'm studying from just doesn't quite work with safari. As well
I use a laptop for my job and I can tell you that a lot of work places are
windows orientated.

It all depends on what you need and what you are willing to learn. I have a
friend who does medical transcription on the mac full time. And when I ran
my vending business, numbers did what I needed it to do for my ledgers
replacing excel. Most people who think the mac can't get the job done,
either aren't willing to learn, or haven't done enough research to see what
works and doesn't work on the mac. Can you install an OS by yourself on
windows? Not before windows 8. Do you have to pay for a screen reader in
edition to the computer with the mac, no you don't, and all updates to voice
over are free, plus if you do a clean install, or change some hard ware, you
will not need more activations. I think the good out way the bad. JMO

I totally agree with you. The Mac just doesn't quite cut it where serious
productivity is concerned. Though in my case I'm quite happy to run two
computers as my windows 7 machine is all set up with what I need for my
medical transcription studies.

In that case, you won't mind the loss of JAWS too much. :)

As for me, well, I use OS X most of the time now, but the deteriorating of
functionality is making me think unkind thoughts about switching full time
back to Windows, at least on my workhorse desktop. OS X 10.10 looks very
promising, but doesn't quite take away the bitterness for me. We'll see.
Probably, as usual, I will relent and make do with less.

In any event, people should be objective about their requirements, and if
that means using Windows, for heaven's sake use it!

There's a trial version and then I think it's something ridiculously cheap

I've never had that happen, honestly. Nor have I had the reset wiping out VO
happen either. I honestly think Apple jumped the gun a bit on having iOS 6
support devices with the A4 chip, and should've stuck with A5-powered
devices or later. That's just my opinion, however.

Hi all,
Ever since iOS6 hit my iPod, I have had it crash three times, usually while
unlocking it. The crash is so bad that I have to do a home/power reset. Of
course, thanks again to iOS6, that reset now wipes out vo and my triple
click home setting, so I have to use iTunes or a sighted person to get the
iPod talking again. Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas on how to
avoid it? Thanks.
