Before we go any further, Audio Hijack is a completely different
tool than is Amadeus Pro, recording might be about the only thing
they have in common, Audio Hijack Pro "hijacks" audio devices and
applications of a Mac but it cannot edit audio, you could for
example use Audio Hijack Pro in conjunction with Amadeus Pro, that
is to say "hijack" and "record" a source with Audio Hijack Pro and
edit that recording with Amadeus Pro, things can be set up so that
Amadeus Pro and Audio Hijack Pro integrate seamlessly with each
 other.

OT Help with external drive

2009-08-19 Thread Marie Howarth

Hello,
last night my usb hub kept disconnecting itself and telling me that
something was pulling too much power on it. I had my external drive,
usb headset and iphone plugged in. This usually works fine. So I
disconnected the external and reconnected it again and it seemed fine.
This morning when I launched my mac, the drive would not show up. I
have this particular drive partitioned, one is in Fat-32 and has my
data on it, I.e itunes library, all my documents, the other half is my
mac back up solution with time machine. I connected my other external
hard drive and it showed up fine. So I went to my windows computer and
connected the sick HD. My data showed up and works fine. I knew the
mac side, as its in mac format, formatted for the time machines back
ups would not show. Upon reconnecting the HD to my mac, my data showed
up but no mac back up. Now I am unable to eject my data and am
desperately wondering what I can do.
thanks for any help and sorry this is off topic but I really hope
someone can assist me.

Re: Autofill with the Mac

2009-08-17 Thread Marie Howarth

Anna,
if you want to add songs to your ipod. just highlight the songs you'd
like to add and in the contextual menu go to add to playlist and find
your ipod's playlist, usually is your name ipod playlist and hit
enter. the songs you highlighted are now in your ipod playlist.

It only says unhighlighted if you continue to type an address it

typing. now it doesn't do that, and still, well, lol

mobile me, idisc on the web

2009-08-01 Thread Marie Howarth

I have a trial of mobile me and I am thinking of paying the 59 pounds
per year to keep it after my trial runs out. I'm curious if anyone has
used the idisc feature and if they've successfully managed to see
their uploaded files on the web. this would help me distribute files
to friends, such as huge documents so i was really hoping this would
work. anyone managed to get it working and how well with voice over?
I know mobile me isn't perfect with voice over at the min, but it is a
good product in my opinion.
thanks

you need to use vo--enter to use select mode. find the information you
need to copy and then hit vo--enter and move the vo curser with vo--
right/left arrow until you've selected the information you need and
then hit vo--enter again which will take you from select mode and hit

Re: duplicates in Itunes library

2009-07-28 Thread Marie Howarth

i would love to know the answer to this. I can only tell you I did it
all by hand which was painstaking. I honestly believe apple could make
it easier on us and when you highlight all duplicates, to be shown, it
gives you the option to delete only the duplicates. if you hit show
all duplicates, and then select all the songs in the songs table, it
deletes all of them, including the ones you wanted to keep :)

Re: mac mini without monitor and set up

2009-07-27 Thread Marie Howarth

thanks for this Ester. so are you saying I couldn't actually plug a
mac mini into a television? It is something I am wanting to do
eventually when i move into my own place so I will be purchasing a new
television or does it simply have to be a monitor? and I will check
with apple about this also?

mac mini without monitor and set up

2009-07-27 Thread Marie Howarth

Hey,
I already have a macbook and I'm thinking of getting a mac mini. I
know if you don't have the monitor you need the adapter to make the
mini think there is one to prevent sluggish behaviour. My question is,
how would you set up the mac independently without sighted assistance?
I had to have someone hit the start voice over assistive set up thing
on my mac book when I got it. but if you don't have a monitor, can
this be achieved some way? I've never reinstalled my leopard yet,
although I understand it can be done. simply, can I set up my mac mini
without sighted assistance?
thanks Marie

response from rogueamoeba

2009-07-27 Thread Marie Howarth
I use both audio high jack pro and just recently started using
nicecast. both are very accessible programmes with the exception to
the addition of the effects to a stream. With voice over, it is
possible to add a single effect, just not more than that when the
actual programmes both work on the basis multiple effects can be
added. I wrote to the developers and here is the response I got.

Re: aim acount on mail

thanks, going to look into the pop3. this imap thing is just not
working. I got it online but it keeps saying mail busy if I try to
move past the aim inbox. This wasn't happening when it was offline and
still no messages.

Re: aim acount on mail

2009-07-25 Thread Marie Howarth

OK, I confuse myself often lol.
I can send from the aim account in the mail app. But when I've
attempted to send an email from another account to test that the
account is working, it doesn't show up in mail. I checked on the web
based area for aim and all the tests I did are there. They are just
not landing in mail. Hope that was a little clearer. So I think
there's a connection issue from the server to the mail app.

plug ins convertion

I exported a plug in from audio highjack and it is now in a plain text
file. it has what appears the code in it, how do I get it to be an
actual plug in? I know this is strictly not accessibility but this in
a way could help users of audio high jack if only I can figure out how
to convert the code to an actual plug in. any help off list would be
great.

I can click on the scroll area but as soon as I do it again, the

all you need is flip for mac I believe. all avi files play for me now.

Re: Article Slamming the iPhone

2009-07-14 Thread Marie Howarth

I honestly think battery issues are across the board, so I personally
would take VO out of the picture. some apps seem to use energy if
they've been launched, I find this with those I use to connect to the
web, I.E tweetaro, and some of the games. deactivating push when you
don't need it helps and it would be nice to see the Iphone battery
improve. But if I left my macbook running all day, I'd expect the
battery to drain withing about four hours. lol.
the speech sometimes becomes garbled, but a quick five press of the
sleep/wake button fixes it immediately.
I'm using mine effectively for day to day use, and now playing games
on it which I could never do on the other phones I had.
I'm happy with it, and only reach for my old phone if someone
contacted me on there, seen as that contract is not up yet. lol :)

the phone is meant to be how it was designed, no adaptive techy stuff
is needed. There's no need to adapt it, it works! I'm sure if I didn't
have the bumps on my f and j keys on my comp, I'd still find the keys,
voice feedback. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

yeah, I whole heartedly agree. I'm a little tired of the impatience by

complaining. it takes time and you didn't know every hidden feature of
a mac/PC or a screen reader within a few days or weeks, did you?

Re: slide shows

2009-07-13 Thread Marie Howarth

nope, that is how I would do it. and you always know if you vo--shift--
right arrow and it tells you how many items there are if you've got
all your photos. I do believe scary music can be very fun and if you
find any downloads, just import it into itunes and it is completely
searchable when choosing your music. Personally not sure where you
could find this kind of thing, but hope you have fun with Iphoto. I
personally love it. have made a slide show, well continue to do so of
my nephew and my guide dog :)

Re: slide shows

2009-07-13 Thread Marie Howarth

I use iphoto quite easily. and I only have Ilife 8. you just have to
ensure your photos are labelled in folders that you want to add and in
the import folder where new imports are, copy and paste into a new
slide show, hey presto, it's easy. I've made severeal already. with
music and fancy things. :)
