Hello,

You can definitely purchase the iWork applications separately. I'm not quite
sure of the cost difference between the iWork CD or the download. Hopefully,
someone else can jump in on the matter.

iTunes 12 Questions

2014-10-24 Thread Ezzie Bueno
Hello friends:

I seem to be having difficulties with iTunes 12. I never used the Grid
view, always preferring the List view. Is the Grid view the only
viewing option on iTunes 12? If not, how can I go back to the List
view? I've looked through the preferences and menus, and cannot find
anything of the sort. When I have tried playing TV episodes in my
iTunes library, iTunes goes "busy" on me. When it manages to play, I
noticed it played a wrong episode, and not the one that I wanted to
watch.
Also, I noticed that content is not being synced to my iDevices. When
I plug them into my Mac, iTunes goes "busy" again. How can I resolve
this "busy" issue? If the Grid view is the only way to view things in
my iTunes library, what is the effective way to play the proper
selected TV episodes?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks and warm regards,
e.B.

Re: iTunes 12 Questions

2014-10-24 Thread Ezzie Bueno
Hi, Mary:

When interacting with the table on the pop-up menu, iTunes goes busy.
I had also tried playing my TV episode with VO+space via the Grid
view, but nothing happens. I've been using a Mac for a few years now,
and have never been this frustrated with iTunes. Any further
suggestions would be most appreciated! :-)

Thank you,
Ezzie

Re: Creating Presentations USING KeyNote

2012-02-07 Thread ezzie bueno

Hello Anne,

My presentation must include two pictures along with a biography,
motivations, something interesting about myself, and my future
plans. Would it be a good idea to discuss these items in their
own separate slides? How can I get pictures into the document
itself?

Thanks,
Ezzie

- Original Message -
From: Anne Robertson Can you lovely people please help me with the basics of creating
PowerPoint presentations using KeyNote? I've never created a
presentation before.

I'm afraid the answer is much too complicated to put into an
e-mail message. Most people take a course to learn how to do
presentations.

Have you listened to the VoiceOver On podcast that covered this?
It might at least give you some idea.

I can tell you that it's perfectly possible to create
presentations in KeyNote using VO.

Will your presentation include pictures or graphics? Or will it
just be text?

Cheers,

Anne

I've been tagging people in a bit of a different way. I type the @ symbol
followed by the first few letters of a person's name. I then proceed with the
press of the ENTER key and the rest of the person's name is completed.

Sorry. As far as I know, this app works on Macs. Good luck finding an app

Voiceover At Startup And Mail

2013-07-12 Thread Ezzie Bueno
Hello List:

It feels great to catch up with the list. I went almost a year without a laptop.
I just got my new Macbook Pro last week. Although I remember how to perform
most tasks, I do need my memory refreshed on a couple of things:

1) How do I set up VoiceOver to automatically speak at the login window?
2) How do I move to the top of the messages list (or bottom) in mail?

Thank you all for any help that you can offer!

OT: WebEx

2014-11-29 Thread Ezzie Bueno
Hello, friends:

I appologize for the off-topic message; however, I'm not sure where
else to turn with my question regarding WebEx. Do any of you have any
experience using WebEx? (WebEx is a platform used to hold meetings
online, where calls are not dropped--unlike Skype and FaceTime.) I'm
taking music lessons online, and my instructor prefers WebEx over any
other platform. I had a hard time connecting to the meeting that she
started, as the buttons were unlabeled.
Is there a work-around for being able to join meetings on WebEx? Or
should I inform my instructor that WebEx will not work out for me?
Any help/feedback is appreciated.

Thanks! :-)
Ezzie

Re: accessible apps from the mac app store

2011-10-23 Thread ezzie bueno

Hello Cheree,

The 2011 Multimedia Encyclopedia runs on a Macbook and is found
in the app store. In that app, you can read articles found in
the Worldbook Encyclopedia. It is a neat app.

Cheree Heppe here:

Which app exactly is this encyclopedia and is it running on a Mac
or an IOS device?

The Peterson's Field Guide to Birds, at least their free version,
is barely accessible and in my opinion, not worth bothering to
download.

Re: MBPKeyboard]

Hi Ezzie and Others,

The usual reason that a drive fails to eject is that it is still
in use. This could be either because a copy or write operation
is still going on and transferring data, or because you have
navigated into the file structure of the drive in Finder to query
contents. I do find that Command-E works to eject drives
provided they are not in use, but there's nothing wrong with
following either Ricardo's method with the context menu or Gigi's
checks that the device is not active. I've retitled the subject
line to better reflect the content of the discussion.

Re: tagging people on Facebook?

2012-01-01 Thread ezzie bueno

hello Donna:

When I'm ready to tag a friend, I put an @ symbol and start
typing my friend's name. After a few letters, I VO right twice
to get to the list of name (and or pages) that begin with those
letters. I interract with the list and mouse-click the desired
name. This method didn't work for me the first few times; but,
it has proven effective now.

I've looked all over the different menus, but cannot find the

hello Johnny,

I remember tripping out when I first got my MBP and finding out
that it was hard to tell whether the computer had shut down,
since I was used to hearing the cooling fan humming loudly on my

Re: cannot receive Skype voice mail

2012-01-22 Thread ezzie bueno
That's interesting. I never had to set up call forwarding in
order to get Voicemail to work. It has always worked for me
without me having to do much.

Ezzie

- Original Message -
From: Ray Foret Jr Yes, I am not receiving any voice mails; and, in answer to the
history question. There are no entries showing voice mail at
all. With respect, I would not have written about the problem if
I had no problem. However, I may have perhaps discovered a work
around. According to a Skype post on the tech forum, What I have
to do is to set up call forwarding and in the box where you enter
the number to be forwarded to, enter your user name. Now, there
are three edit areas where one can enter a phone number; area
code, prefix and last four digits. Question seems then to be
which of these boxes to enter my Skype name in to; and, do I then
set up for forwarding or send to Voice mail? A little weird but
the ony solution I believe at the moment. I should like to point
out that I see posts on that forum suggesting I'm not the only
Mac user with this issue and the latest version of Skype beta.

re: Questions about Skype and the Macintos Time

2011-08-16 Thread ezzie bueno

Hi Francisco,

Look for the "contacts monitor" button to the left of the
contacts list. When you press it, Skype will only show you the
contacts who are online.
To quickly check the time on your Mac, you will first need to
enable the shortcut on your keyboard. To do this, open the
VoiceOver Utility by pressing VO and F8. Select the commanders
category. When you do that, press the tab key and select the
keyboard tab with VO and the space bar. Press the tab key again
to Check the box that says "enable keyboard commander". Keep
pressing the tab key to select the
rest of the settings. Whichever option key you use will become
your commander key.
On the following table, press VO and the right arrow until you
find the T followed by the button that'll inticate the time of
day. When you close the utilitity, you will now be able to check
the time by pressing the option key you chose along with the
letter T.

Lightning

2011-08-17 Thread ezzie bueno

Hello list,

I've been trying a new web browser for quite some time now,
Lightning. Lightning works pretty well. I have not had
VoiceOver say "Lightning Busy"--not nearly as much as "Safari
Busy". Although VoiceOver doesn't always interact with the HTML
content, I am satisfied with Lightning. VO will also not alert
the user when the page has loaded, but I've found that they load
quickly.
If you'd like to give Lightning a try, you can get it free via
the App store. Just search for the Lightning web browser.

Hi Paul,

I, too, recommend the Unarchiver. It will unzip rar files.
Download it free of charge at the Apple App Store.

- Original Message -
From: Paul Erkens If you need an archiving shell that unzips, zips etc, I had
better zip from the app store. If you want to unrar, you can
install the trial version of rar for os10. Worked like a charm.
I have not used it since Lion is installed though, but perhaps
just take a look. Betterzip zips and unzips natively, and it
supports a number of other formats. It is not cheap though, but
given the number or archives I have on my external drive, it was
worth it.

Re: Blackboard

2011-08-22 Thread ezzie bueno

Thank you so much, Justin! Omniweb is AWESOME!
I, too, have emailed Apple Accessibility regarding the Blackboard
issue. I encourage all other college students on this list to
email them as well. The address is accessibil...@apple.com.

Ezzie

- Original Message -
From: "Justin Ekis" I'm sorry for not replying to this sooner. I didn't have this
problem last semester, and only just ran into it tonight. After
checking that the college had not upgraded to a new version of
blackboard, I figured that this must be something that has
changed with safari 5.1. So I tried an alternative web browser
called omniweb. Sure enough, I can activate the link to create a
thread just fine with that. I'll email apple accessibility about
this, as I didn't have this issue before upgrading safari.
Anyway, you can download omniweb at the following link.

I hope this helps.

hi May,

To have PDF files converted to text files free of charge, send an
email to conv...@robobraille.org. On the subject line, specify
the format you want your file in. Attach your PDF document and
your converted file will be emailed to you momentarily.

From: Paul Erkens On the mac, if you need this often, then abbyy fine reader is a
good solution. Its interface has a combobox where you input
where your image is coming from, so either a scanner or a file,
and the next combo box lets you decide what to convert it to. It
is that simple, but it does cost 80 dollars. Otherwise, I would
ask a friend running windows to quickly do it for you, using
pdf2txt. That is quick. On the mac, I don't yet know of a free
and easy program to do just that.

Hello Johnny,

That is bad! Have you tried pressing command option escape to
force Saphari to quit? Try it and restart your computer again.
Hope this fixes the ussue.

Ezzie

- Original Message -
From: Johnny Angel! I simply turned on my MBP and went to safari and it was acting
really weird in that it wasn't stay on the doc for me. But then:

1. It was changing pages in Safari without my doing anything.

2. It seemed that there was something like a Flash player update
that kept popping up in front of the current page blocking my
ability to do anything. I say seemed to be the Flash player
software because the popup wasn't labeled, but I couldn't get rid
of it.

3. Then Safari was no longer responding and I was no longer able
to bring up the apple menu to force quit the program.

4. Vo + M would only bring up the universal access.

5. My 13 inch MBP never ran so hot ever before. It was blowing
out very hot air out of the back of the unit like it was going
out of style. That was scary indeed!

6. I tried using force quit from the desktop but that didn't
work.

7. Neither could I invoke the computer to shut down because
Safari was still not responding.

If anyone has any ideas why my computer acted this way, please
let me know what you think.

Thank you!

Selecting Text Online

2011-09-24 Thread ezzie bueno

Helly list,

I am trying to select an entire document posted online. This
website is broken up into three different frames--the first being
the main frame with the main links to connect with classmates,
check grades, log out, etc., the second one being a frame with
links to the course assignments, and the third being the one in
which the text of the document is posted. When I interract with
the last frame and try selecting the text with command A, I come
up with the links main frame selected. That's not what I want.
How can I have the document itself selected?

it? What does it say when you go to the apple menu, and then
about this mac?

Re: Installing Lion

2011-09-25 Thread ezzie bueno
thanks for the Drag and Drop compands, Paul! Will it work well in
WordPress when I add widgets to my blog?

Ezzie

- Original Message -
From: Paul Erkens There is a new drag and drop method in voiceover now. To drag,
hit vo comma, and to drop, hit vo period. Just in case you ever
need it. You will certainly have questions, but that's what the
list is for. All of us having experienced the move to lion now
know a lot about little issues you may run in to, so just ask
when appropriate.

Paul.

Hello Paul,

When my roommate shut mlaptop, the instalation of Lion was

This will be my first time ever using Lion. Any tips that any
of y'all believe to be helpful are welcome.

From: Paul Erkens What exactly happened when you attempted to install lion again,
after your room mate closed your laptop, without him noticing
that lion was installing? Once you get the lion installer app
from the app store, you can always run it to upgrade. Can you
find lion among your purchases in the mac app store?

Re: using the dash board

hi Caitlyn,

Yes! Go to the dashboard and open the widget bar. To the right
of the widgess you already have, there will be a button that will
let you get more widgets. There are loads of cool ones!

Re: using the dash board

The ESPN widget works for me. I also downloaded the Quote of the
Day widget and it is awesome. DO NOT download the Roller Coaster
widget. I accidentally got it last night and it was really hard
to hear voiceover to try and turn it off. Although I would close
the dashboard, the roller coaster sounds would still go on.
