Hello!
I actually haven’t tried that so I don’t know.
It works great without it.

Thanks, Matthew. I think once I get it set up, I’m really going to love it.

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I promise not to post all day about this. :) But I can’t get my Mac to pair
with the keyboard. It paired flawlessly with my phone, but I guess if I want
to use the app, I also have to pair it with my Mac. When I go into Bluetooth,
it uses the keyboard, but when I click Connect, nothing happens. So how did
those of you with this keyboard pair it with a Mac? Thanks in advance for any
help.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi,

I have the mx keys mini which works with both windows and Mac but can’t commit
on the accessibility of the app as I don’t use it. I have it connected to my
windows desktopp as well as my iPad mini as well.

2024-05-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
I kind of like the alternate function key settings, at least some of them. If
I can, there are few I would reassign. At this point, I can’t even pair it
with my Mac, because VO isn’t reading out the PIN number. G.

That is what I did. Hold the FN + Escape to change the Function Key behavior.
On the Mac I did not have to do that or have that Option. I have the M1 with
the Touch Bar and that may have complicated the issue.

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-13 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Kelly,

Thanks so much for all this detailed information. I’m hoping to be able to do
the following in the app:
Check battery status
Turn off keyboard backlighting
Create keystrokes for common tasks

May I ask one more question. Have you gotten the emoji key to work? I like
emojis, so it sounds really cool, but when I pressed it, nothing happened.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-13 Thread Kelly Ford
Donna,

The Mac software is probably a bit easier unless you have experience with the
JAWS touch cursor. That said, it depends I guess what you want to do. You don’t
have to use the software to use the keyboard to be clear.

You can also switch the function keys to be function keys and their
alternatives to require holding down the FN key by pressing and holding
FN+escape for a few seconds on each device where you want it to behave this
way. I’m fairly certain I had to do this on each device where I connect.

All this said, I don’t have the software installed at all on two of the three
devices where I use this keyboard.

For what is worth, I have this keyboard and find it to be excellent. With
respect to the app on both the Mac and Windows, and my experience while the app
would fail pretty much any accessibility standard, I have found a way to use it
with both JAWS and VoiceOver. It requires a lot of use of the JAWS touch cursor
and VoiceOver commands to activate different items and it is far from
efficient. In addition, you have to get familiar with a couple of nameless
buttons to recall which one does what task. I’m by no means suggesting I would
consider the app usable, unless you are willing to go through all of these
hoops.

The Mac does have one, but it sounds like Michael’s experience is that it isn’t
accessible either.

I would love to use the app but have not found it to be accessible. I’m not
even sure if the Mac has one.
But it is not accessible on Windows.

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-12 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
That’s too bad. But thanks for letting me know. Do you happen to know if
there’s an alternate way to disable backlighting on the keyboard? I haven’t
found one, but I only got the keyboard this afternoon.

I agree with you and Mervin re the keyboard. It’s very comfortable to use, and
so far seems pretty intuitive.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-12 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Mervin,

So you don’t use the app at all? I ask because it looks like the only way to
disable backlighting on the keyboard is in the Logitech app, and it looks like
doing that significantly extends battery life. That would be really convenient
for me since I’ll be traveling.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-12 Thread Mervin Keck III
Logitech sells A Mac only version of the MX keyboard. If this is the one you
have then you have the one I am currently using. And it is totally accessible.
In fact I like it better than the one I am using on my windows 11 Pro machine
which is for both Mac and windows. When using it on windows 11 Pro there are a
couple of keys that do nothing. And windows keeps trying to install a Logitech
app that is 0% accessible. And the only way I know it is even trying to install
it is because my 32GB i7 Carbon X1 Extreme starts revving up like it is ready
to take off on a runway.
The Mac version gives me no issues and does not try to install anything. And
works great. I use the Mac Only Logitech MX on my M1 MacBook Pro but since it
allows me to connect up to 3 devices I also have my iPhone 14 Pro Max paired
with it as well. It works great with my iPhone as well.

Anyone using a Logitech MX keyboard for Mac?

2024-05-12 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I just bought one of these keyboards to take to Europe in lieu of my Mac.
Anyone else using one? One thing I’m wondering about is the Logi Options app.
From what I can find, it’s for Mac only. Can anyone confirm or deny? Second,
if you’ve installed it on a Mac, how accessible is it?
TIA,
Donna
