Hi and another garage band question

2014-01-24 Thread Red.Falcon
Hi all!
OK I'm not sure if anyone can help but here goes!
I can set up a new recording and add a Karaoke track using the voice template
and record it ok, playing the finished recording back in Garage band it sounds
OK but after sending it to iTunes and playing it back there my voice is very
quiet!
So does anyone know how I could make the Karaoke track reduce in volume?
I tried using the setting to balance the sound to no effect!
Any help welcome! *smile*

Garage Band question

2013-03-01 Thread Chris H

Hello all
sorry if this sounds basic but is it possible to play midi notes using
your mac's keyboard? If so how? I know of some midi programs on the
other platform that allows you to do this, cutting out the requirement
for an external midi keyboard. Any responses would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Garage Band question

2013-03-01 Thread Phil Halton
the keystroke combo command shift K toggles on or off the midi keyboard
feature which allows playing notes on the keyboard. I think that the asdfg
and qwert rows play the chromatic scale notes, and the keys z x shift the
keyboard by octaves.

You can look in the window menu item to check or uncheck the midi keyboard
feature in case I got the hotkey wrong.

Hello,

It depends on the type of project template you pick. Select Piano for example,
and you will already have a piano track in the project.

Re: Garage Band question

2013-03-01 Thread Phil Halton
as long as you are placed on a software track (as opposed to a real track),
then the midi keyboard will play the currently assigned instrument. Opening
up a project with the piano template will automatically create a software
track and you will be positioned on it when the project opens. turn on the
keyboard and start noodling around.

instruments to work, which makes no sense to me, considering the fact that my
dad got this for his phone, and has been able to get all of them to work, and
has recorded several tracks with it. Am I missing something here?
Even when I get the piano keyboard up and running, I can't figure out how the
keyboard itself is laid out, so even then, I can't seem to play an actual
tune on it, which is really frustrating, so any help someone could give me

Re: garage band question.

2013-01-05 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

First thing, you want to make sure your using musical typing. This is turned
on with command shift K. You also want to make sure you haven't locked the
track. If the track is locked, you will be prevented from playing the
instrument on that track. The toggle to lock and unlock a track is the letter
L.

And to select an instrument, create a software instrument track then, interact
with track info and navigate to the browse area.

Re: garage band question.

2013-01-05 Thread Jessica Moss
Ok, how do you get to the place to select what instrument again? It's been a
while sense I've used the program, and I can't remember now how I got there in
the first place, so kind of need a memory refresher.

I've just started using Garage band, and have just been playing around with
it, and so far can only get the piano portion of the pre-programed
instruments to work, which makes no sense to me, considering the fact that
my dad got this for his phone, and has been able to get all of them to
work, and has recorded several tracks with it. Am I missing something here?
Even when I get the piano keyboard up and running, I can't figure out how
the keyboard itself is laid out, so even then, I can't seem to play an
actual tune on it, which is really frustrating, so any help someone could
 give me would be appreciated.

Re: garage band question.

2013-01-05 Thread Phil Halton
Jessica, first open the track info pane with command-I. Then interact with
the track info group that appears right next to the layout area. select
browse, and arrow over to the browser and interact. in there are all the
software instruments. VO up and down through the various lists of
instruments, playing your midi (or on-screen keyboard) to sample the sounds.
when you find the one you want for that track, just exit (uninteract) the
track info group. If you're using your keyboard as a music keyboard, you
turn musical typing on and off with command shift K.

 Happy wekend all!
Does anyone out there know how to work with Garage Band?
I am trying to throw a little jingle together and when I add different
sounds they all get placed at the same point in the timeline so they all
play at once. It's not even the beginning either. There is like 15
seconds of silence then all the noise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to write me off list.

 Subject: Garage band question

 Happy wekend all!
Does anyone out there know how to work with Garage Band?
I am trying to throw a little jingle together and when I add different
sounds they all get placed at the same point in the timeline so they all
play at once. It's not even the beginning either. There is like 15 seconds
of silence then all the noise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to write me off list.

installing World Jam Pack for Garage Band question

2011-12-31 Thread Goodin, Donna
Hi all,

I just got the World Jam Pack for Christmas and am trying to install it. I
tried to install it, but at the end of the install, I got an error pertaining
to incompatibility with powerpc and saying something about being unable to open
plisbuddy (whatever that is). The only way I could exit the screen was to shut
down the computer. I'm trying to see if the install completed or not, Can
someone please tell me how I would be able to tell? For example, iF it
installed, I should have some new loops available. Can someone please tell me
how I can view available loops? I'm a real GB newbie, so please give as
detailed instructions as possible.
TIA,
Donna

the install will fail.

the product was coded for intel systems. if I understand it right, the new jam

Re: installing World Jam Pack for Garage Band question

2011-12-31 Thread Mr. L. Alexander
h.

if it's coming up with a powerPC issue, I think I might have just hit the nail
on the head.

this may actually be an issue with the media. as you're running lion, I've
heard of issues like this before and if memory serves me right, the only way to
bypass this is a complete manual extraction.

just thinking something... that as OS X 10.7 has completely eliminated the use
of PowerPC code, apple's installer may be at fault.

can you retry the installation and email me back? if you have skype and can do
screen sharing, I may be able to help that way.

Hi,

It should have installed regardless of the error and forced shutdown. If you
open garageband and bring up the loop browser with command L, the world section

Does anyone know how to do this? Apple has *really dropped the ball on this

Hi Ricardo,

It didn't install. Pressing Command-L yields no results. It looks like Lou is
right, it's tied to the powerpc thing. My husband found a work-around, but I
can't seem to perform a right -click, still sorting through that.

Re: installing World Jam Pack for Garage Band question

2011-12-31 Thread Mr. L. Alexander
a work around is a manual unpack by viewing package contents and finding the
directories used by garageband for plugins, etc, then providing you have access
to package contents, you can copy all contents to their required directories.

not too sure as haven't had to undertake this. I no longer have direct
involvement with music / pro audio apps.

Re-asking a Garage-Band question.

2011-06-13 Thread Phantom.Vader
Hi people!

I asked this a while back, but then I was away from the list for a
while so I never heard the answer. Oops! And I did a search of the
list archives, but, if there was an answer, I can't find it.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it's possible to make the metronome's
count-in in Garage-Band longer? Right now, it's only one bar. And
that's not enough, especially at fast tempi, to get musical typing
turned on and get my hands into position to play, or to get in
position over at my synth-keyboard as it's not quite close enough to
my desk. I checked in the Preferences, but I couldn't find anything
that looked right. So can some one tell me how to make it give me
more bars of count-in?

Thanks!

Garage Band question

Hi Ricardo and list.

I figured out what happened. I actually didn't have a track created. I
assumed it works like Sonar and gives you a track when you open a project.
Apparently Garage Band doesn't do that. Ricardo, is it ok if I contact you off
list? I think I have a couple more questions.

Thanks.

Good morning Slau,

Literally anywhere. Once you have copied the file to the clipboard from your
finder, go back to garageband. use the arrow keys or option arrow to find the
position on the timeline you would like to place the audio file and paste. You
can be anywhere in the garage band application. The track info area, media
browser, loop browser, a transport control, etc.

Re: quick garage band question

2010-10-29 Thread Goldfinga Productions
go to the start of the edit you want to make, and press command t, then that
will split the point there. Then go to the end of the place you want to cut and
press the same thing, command t and it will split again, you will than have 2
extra regions. Delete those extra regions.

Problem is, I'm not able to select individual regions. I tried using VO

Hi,

Yeah it was quicker in the previous version. You could just type in the tempo
you wanted. Now VO left/right arrow move the tempo in increments of 10. Then
you can press VO shift left/right arrow to move by increments of 1 when you get
close to the value you wanted.

the desired sound I am looking for.

 Hi,

Yeah it was quicker in the previous version. You could just type in
the tempo you wanted. Now VO left/right arrow move the tempo in
increments of 10. Then you can press VO shift left/right arrow to move
by increments of 1 when you get close to the value you wanted.

Re: garage band question

2010-06-05 Thread clarence griffin
oh boy, you may have to wait a couple weeks or so for the new version of GB or
what ever to come out. I think a new OS version is coming out that will fix GB.
Right now, the only way to inport loops is so tedious, its not even worth going
in to it here. If you go over to http://www.icanworkthisthing.com that may help
you out.
I hope that is the correct address...
