Re: Keyboard shortcuts for Music Player?

2022-11-08 Thread Herbie Allen
I should have given the link as this is not a Mac app store app.
https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
As a general rule, Do a Google search for apps unless someone specifically says
it’s a Mac store app. Mac store apps are generally not used as often.

Can use Quicktime but it is more tricky for rewinding or fast-forwarding.
that’s why I recommend VLC.

I recommend you install VLC Media Player as that will be much easier.
Otherwise, you have to un-interact and VO left to the player controls. If there
are shortcuts, then they would be listed in the Menu bar, but I don’t think
there are any for rewinding and fast forwarding.

Hi Angie,

ITunes is marginally better on mac than on windows. IMHO though, the whole
idea of ITunes is ridiculous. It's a benighted, proprietary piece of
bloatware. Personaly I use VLC for my stuff. It's playlist based and non
proprietay.

You can get vlc from www.videolan.org. You'll be happy you did. ITunes balks
me at every turn, but really and truely, I can't think of a single task that
ITunes dows that a third party program doesn't do much better.

Re: Music player

2011-07-30 Thread ShamelessFanGirl
I recently upgraded to Lion, so currently use VLC more than Cog. With each, you
open the app, press cmd O, browse to your desired music location, open it, and
you're off and running. VLC has some unlabeled buttons, but you can take care
of that via voiceover's labeling method. Both apps have keyboard shortcuts
available for nearly every function of the respective player, and both are very
accessible IMO. Also, and this is simply me being me, but I love the
customizable EQ in VLC. Made me run out and buy amazing speakers for my Mac. :D

Again, I hope that helps.

Re: Music player

2011-07-30 Thread ShamelessFanGirl
Hello Angie,

I personally use VLC and Cog for music playing. iTunes is fantastic, but there
are times I just want to cue up a folder/playlist without first having to add
it to my library. I use iTunes more as a means of organizing my iDevices than
as an actual player of media.

Just a few thoughts to get you started, and congratulations on making the
switch.

Music player

2011-07-30 Thread Angie Giltinan
Good evening all!
I'm a new mac user, fresh from the windows world, so when I learned that iTunes
was the default music player on the mac, I sort of panicked since, well, umm,
iTunes really sucks in windows!
So, here's my question, what do you all use to play mp3's and ogg files?
do you just stick with iTunes, which admitedly, is much better, and nicer on
the mac, or is there a third party software you all like for playing your music?
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

This one took me a few tries to get it. Once you tap the index, and swipe
down to pick a letter. you don't have to do anything else, but right swipe
in the middle area to look through your artists.

Meaning you don't have to double tap the letter m to go to your m artists.

I'm still working on your third q, I tried it for the first time yesterday
and didn't have any results.

3 questions re the music player on the ipod Touch

2010-12-28 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

I'm the mostly happy owner of a new ipod touch, but have three questions about
the music player.

1. I can't seem to shake it and get it to shuffle. Shake to Shuffle is
checked in settings. But, I've shaken it until I've practically thrown it, and
no joy. Any suggestions?

2. How on earth does the table index work? I've opened it and selected a
letter, but the artists in the selected letter don't show up on the screen.

3. It looks like you're supposed to be able to edit which buttons show up in
the player. I've selected more, then Edit, and the buttons say Draggable, but
tapping and holding doesn't seem to do anything. What's the deal?
thanks,
Donna
