Hello Anne. Thanks for providing this tip to use tables in Pages. I'll try
this when I get a chance. Here's my question. I often prepare outlines for
classroom presentations. Pages doesn't tell me the levels such as:

I.

a.

b.

II.

In order for me to get this information I have to export the document to
Word which defeats my need to use Pages when I can just create them in Word
in the first place. Have you figured out how to see the levels? Have you
developed any training material in English.

Thanks so much for the contributions you make to this list.

Paul

Hello Brandt,

In Pages, as in almost all text editors in Mac OS X, there is a problem
navigating tables. What you have to do is to interact with the text area,
the body I should think in your case, and navigate just using the arrow
keys. When you hear "Space, highlighted", open the inspector (Cmd-Option-i)
and select the 3rd button, Wrap. Then navigate right to the radio buttons
and select Floating. Hide the inspector (Cmd-Option-i) and your table will
be editable and shows up as an additional item on the page.

Cheers,

Anne

I use Pages on my Mac all the time. I'm a freelance translator and get Word
format documents to translate which I open in Pages. Then when I'm done, I

You need a good knowledge of VoiceOver to be able to use Pages efficiently, but
it's easy when you know how. It just isn't MS word!

Re: an introduction and a few questions

2010-03-03 Thread Esther

Hi Sarah and Les,

You don't need to navigate to the menu bar to move your selected
items: your context menu options will operate on multiple selections.
If you want to move all the messages in a folder, just "select all" in
the messages table for that folder with Command-A, bring up the
context menu (VO-Shift-M), type "m o" or use your arrow keys to
navigate to the "Move To" menu option, then right arrow to the submenu
and use your arrow keys or start typing the first few letters to find
the folder you want to move your selections to and press return.

It's also possible to select a block of items by holding down the
shift key and pressing your down (or up) arrow key to highlight
entries. VoiceOver also allows you to do non-contiguous selection of
items in a list, and to review the items you have selected with VO-F6,
but you won't want to use that for a huge list if you are selecting all.

HTH

Cheers,

Esther

I'm not sure Sarah what you mean when you want to do this faster, but if there
are a large number of messages, you can use command-a to select them all and
command-c to copy. THen you can arrow through the list of mailboxes and once
you have interacted with the mailbox, command-v will paste them. You should
also be able to use shift-down arrow to highlight several messages and perform

Re: an introduction and a few questions

2010-03-03 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi Sarah

To move a message to another folder, do the following.
1. Contro-Option M to bring up the menu bar.

2. Type letter M followed by E to reach the message option and press enter.

3. Start typing the word move, probably the first or at most first 2 letters
will get you there. VO will say Move submenu.

4. Hit right arrow to expand the list of folders.

5. Start typing the name of the folder you wish to move the message to and VO
will verbalize the folder name as you type. Press enter and the message will
be placed into that folder.
Hope that helps.

Les

I saw your question before on the other list and meant to write and ask for
clairification.

I've just had my mac for a couple of weeks and I'm still pretty slow myself.
Are you trying to import a folder from another computer?
Or just move a folder from one location on your mac to another?

Re: an introduction and a few questions

2010-03-02 Thread Rafael Bejarano

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the Mac. You can copy items (both
files and folders) from one folder on your harddrive, and then paste
them in another folder. I realize that's more cumbersome than dragging
and dropping, but as far as I know, that's the most reliable way to
transfer items from one place to another.

Cordially,

Hello. My name is Sarah Alawami. I have been a mac user for a few
weeks and love it.

I do have some questions though.

1. How do you save to mp3 in wave pad if the mp3 option is not there.

2. Using audio hijack pro how would I play something in to skype
while talking to the person. I'd want to use this for tutorials as
well.

3. I want to move a folder from import to on my mac but find no easy
way of doing this. I've tried dragging and dropping with disastrous
results.

Thanks I think thanks all the questions I have so far. feel free to
address then separately or what ever to as not to prevent confusion.
