Re: fonts in text edit and sharing documents with iPhone

2016-12-15 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

In TextEdit, select all the text in your document, press cmd-t to bring up the
Font dialog, then navigate to the size field and enter 12, or whatever size you
prefer. Note that you may wish to change the font as well so that the document
has the same font throughout. Size 12 in Aerial is different looking than size
12 in Times. Also note that only attributes that are changed will affect
what's selected. So, if you don't change the size number, then none of the
font sizes will be changed.

One other note, as David has mentioned, it's Google Drive that you're likely
wanting, not Google Docs. Google Drive allows you to use whatever document
type you wish, whereas a Google Doc is a specific document type itself. It is
a web-based document only editable within a browser.

HTH.

Download Google Drive for sharing the docs between the computer and iOS. Google
Docs automatically keeps the apps in Google Drive.

Hi,

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'm thinking that probably google docs may be

Also, a clarification, I am using text edit to create this file and am not

make everything a uniform size?

Thanks,

One additional note to add to the already good suggestions. If you don't
want to upgrade to a MacOS that supports continuity and/or handoff, or at
your hardware doesn't support that. Then you could get wi-Fi sharing on
your iPhone so that the computer could use your cellular connection to
reach the Internet. Depending on your carrier, this might cost money.

Those commands adjust the size respective to the existing size, so everything
would stay proportionally the same, just smaller or larger. To make it all
uniform you will want to open the font
dialog with Command-T. Or at least that’s a way I know that would do it.
However it will also probably set everything to the same font and style and you
would then need to go and re-apply anything like headings, bold, italics, etc.
that you actually wanted. I assume in Pages there’s probably a way to get at
just the size and make it uniform, but I ended up bringing Word with me to the
Mac and haven’t really gotten comfortable in Pages or Text Edit for that matter.

Re: fonts in text edit and sharing documents with iPhone

2016-12-13 Thread David Chittenden
If using Pages, and using iCloud, and both devices are using the same iCloud
account, and Pages is backing up to iCloud, open pages on the iOS device and
Pages will be able to access the file.

I also do the same using Google Docs with Google Drive.

fonts in text edit and sharing documents with iPhone

2016-12-13 Thread Gabe Griffith
Hi all,
I work on a weekly news letter that contains content that comes to me from many
different sources. As a result it apparently also comes in many different font
sizes and I would like to try to make the font size uniform. This was not
pointed out to me until recently and of course as a VO user I haven't ever
really paid attention to that.

OK, so now here is my problem. I have found the command in text edit to change
font size by pressing command with either dash or plus. I assumed that if I did
a command a to select all then either of these commands it would change the
font for the entire document to what I wanted it to be. Apparently it isn't
doing that. Does anyone know why or what I need to do differently?

Now the next dilemma I am facing is that when I have to send this out to a
couple of different email lists I am not always necessarily with my computer
and internet access. So, what is the best method any of you have found for
sharing a document from the mac to an iPhone so that I could copy all the text
from the document and paste it in to the body of an email? I have tried dropbox
and don't appear to be able to select the text from the document.

I am using OS 10.9.5 maverics on a late 2011 macbook pro and an iPhone 7
running iOS 10.2.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Gabe
