Re: one more thing
Hello, In that version of OSX, in order to select text on web pages, you need to go to the area where you wish t begin selecting text, then press VO+return. Then, press VO up and down arrows to move by line and VO+right and left arrows to move by word. When you are finished, press VO+return to stop the selection mode, then press CMD+C to copy the select text, then CMD+V to paste it elsewhere. I don't know if other selection type commands work beyond line and word; these are the only ones I ever tried or cared about. All-in-all, I am really glad to find the easier navigation of Mountain Lion. I hope this helps! Well, that explains it. Mountain Lion introduced the easy selection in Safari, but it is still possible in earlier versions. The process is rather tedious and involves disabling cursor tracking in some way, but I don't know the details. Sorry I can't help more. One More Thing: RE: Simply Bizarre Mail Client Problem, Help Requested
I have confirmed and reconfirmed that my settings are exactly the same on both Windows and the Mac. Thus, essentially being a GMail account? If so, GMail does not show messages that were sent to yourself, it's just the way GMail has their servers set up. Taylor wrote: Hello All, OK, I've been working on this for what seems like forever and cannot find a resolution. For some reason, I cannot see messages sent to myself in my mail client. I want to be clear on this so please indulge me. I have several accounts or Mailboxes setup on my Mac including an iCloud account, a Candleshore account and my primary UCLA account. Now, when in either of the two other Inboxes, I can send an email to that address and it appears in the inbox. For example, 1. Place focus on the Candleshore Inbox. 2. Read a few messages waiting for me in there. 3. Create a new message and address it to the candleshore email address which is music...@candleshore.com 4. Confirm that the messages is being sent from that same address. 5. Enter a subject line. 6. Send the message. Within a second or two, the message appears in the Messages table, just as it should. This works for each of my accounts accept for the UCLA account. I have removed the UCLA account several times and re-created it but the problem persist. I first noticed this when posting to this list. Even though all of you could see it I could not. Then, I decided to CC myself on outgoing messages but still, I did not receive a copy of the message. As far as I know, this problem did not begin until the latest version of the mail client. I just don't know what else to try. By the way, I have even gone so far as to use various SMTP servers but nothing works. The funny thing is, when viewing the UCLA account from my Windows computer, the messages sent from my Mac, that is to myself, do not appear, either. Somehow the Mac is doing something to prevent the messages from being sent to me but only in this one account. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Re: One more thing for Colbie
Hi, As far as I can remember, if you really want to compare...the only thing you can't do on the Mac as a blind person is actually perform the Apple hardware test (AHD), which is understandable. There are very good reasons for that. Even so, though, you can get third-party tools that use Terminal, for example, to run separate tests which will, when put together, essentially measure exactly the same as the Hardware Test will. So, if you are willing to listen to thousands of lines of text, go ahead. Re: One more thing for Colbie
Someone mentioned this earlier but, maintenance. I bet if we took a pole less than half the people on the list have some kind of 3rd party anti malware or anti virus software on their Mac. Its just one less thing that needs serious consideration right now. That will probably change in the future as Macs become more common place in the home and work place. But for now, en enjoying it. A long with no disk defragmenting. lol On Jun 16, 2010, at 10:00 PM, Olivia Norman wrote: > Very very true. Very very true. I can't count the number of times my windows machines did that, and in my three years of using macs I've never had an issue that required sighted help to resolve. One more thing for Colbie
Colbie, I forgot to say this. I have never had the Mac crash to where I couldn't fix it myself without sighted assistance. In my opinion, that is probably top of the list in the advantages column. You can completely reinstall the operating system all on your own without sighted assistance. Oh, that *is handy. Thanks for clarifying that. (I had kind of wondered why you would want to be notified about the end time of an event.) :) Cheers, Donna On Jan 30, 2010, at 6:08 AM, Krister Ekstrom wrote: > Hi, > In fact the first field is a first reminder, you could put that reminder in a > pretty long time ahead of the event, say one or two days ahead. Re: one more thing re ICal
Hi, In fact the first field is a first reminder, you could put that reminder in a pretty long time ahead of the event, say one or two days ahead. The second field is a second reminder which you could put in say an hour or earlier ahead of the event. This is a very, very good feature, methinks. /Krister 29 jan 2010 kl. 16.39 skrev Donna Goodin: > Hi Olivia and all, > > Thought I'd mention one more thing that I missed at the beginning. > > Under the alarms options, there are two alarms you can set, one for the > beginning of the appointment, and I think the other is for the end. one more thing re ICal
Hi Olivia and all, Thought I'd mention one more thing that I missed at the beginning. Under the alarms options, there are two alarms you can set, one for the beginning of the appointment, and I think the other is for the end. If you want to be notified before the event, make sure you set the first field, not the second one. O, one more thing about this issue with my song sorting
I almost forgot: If I am in the now playing sceen, on hover on the album graffic art work, then flick left a few times to the album tracks button, if I double tap that, o yeah, it brings up all the tracks, but starting from 1, working down, again, they're in alphabetical order, not album order. This is r'r'r'r'r'really! driving me nuts! Chris. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
