MI Unique Index Column Creation Problem (Oracle)

1999-08-18 Thread IDS

Hello,

While registering the Oracle table in mapInfo it does so by
ordering the table in ascending order upon the unique index
column created.

Is it possible to register the table as it is without any
ordering ?

Thank you.

RE: MI - Command line parameters?

1999-08-18 Thread Carl Nunn - Aligned Assets

You can't pass parameters to a main, as far as I am aware, but you can pick
up the parameters when mapInfo was run. Eg "c:\mapinfo\mapinfo.exe
c:\mapinfo\myapp.mbx john johnspassword". (Although this does have the
effect of leaving a nasty stain on the MRU).

The API to do this is:

Declare Function GetCommandLine Lib "kernel32" Alias "GetCommandLineA" () As
String

Subject: MI - Command line parameters?

Hi all,

I think I know the answer to this one already, but I have learned never to
pre-empt the knowledge of the list!

Is it possible to pass command-line parameters to an MBX? e.g. "Run
Application
Myapp.MBX 1 Hello 3.5"

As a bit of a dabble I tried "parameterising" the Main sub:

 declare sub Main(byval param1as Integer)

... but MapBasic didn't fall for it.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Cheers,
David Jerrard.

Hi there,

we do use NavTech data in our Geocoder.

We are producing and selling a Geocoder for Germany and other European
countries based on NavTech data. Additionally, we are using NavTech data
in MapInfo and other formats. We find the data to be highly accurate,
reliable and up to date.

Please do no hesitate to contact me directly if you need further

Re: » MI Mi How to disable Delete key

1999-08-18 Thread owendavid

Hello

I came across a similar problem myself with Visual Foxpro and Mapinfo. The
solution is to issue a 'Set Table yourtablename UserEdit Off' command. This
will prevent the user making any changes to the table but allow your Delphi
program full access to it.

Hope this helps and please let me know how you get on.

Try using a plain text editor, that's all.
(I can recommend the text editor UltraEdit, you can download it from
www.ultraedit.com)

In the future, just write your program outside of MapBasic and then use the
'Compile from file' option in MapBasic.

MI MapX questions

Hello All...,

After it was compiled to be

Mapx30.ocx. It just won't work until I copy the whole SDK into the

 Q: Do we

2. We tried to call a geotiff raster to be shown as a vector

Q: What do I have to to

 After
it was loaded - We failed to show it in a small zoom(It doesn't appear in the

 Image

 Is it
capable opening more than one raster file?(We loaded two files and than the app.
hang up).
 Our

We use MapX 3.5 and VB 6.0 in a PC with

MI problems printing colours

1999-08-18 Thread Tim Warman

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question on HPGL2 printing. I've
downloaded the Oce drivers, but haven't tried it yet as I'm still working
on the maps.

I've been trying to print some smaller test plots at the same scale
(1:24,000) on our HP Deskjet 855C, but it doesn't print many of the colours
correctly when printing lines. The basic colours like red, blue, black and
green come out nice and sharp, but most of the rest come out as faint,
"bitty" looking lines, almost like a bad raster image of a vector line. A
specific example is the the color RGB 128,128,0, which is the fifth from
the right on the top row of the MI colour palette (on 5.0). I'm trying to
print some contour lines with this colour but they look terrible.

Is this just a limitation of my printer? I downloaded the latest driver
from HP (the 850C driver), but that doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Re: MI MapX questions

1999-08-18 Thread Jeff James

Howdy,

I can address the first question, but I haven't fiddled too
much with the raster images within the MapX framework.

Regarding installations, the Package Deployment Wizard
is simply too limited to be able to do a MapX installation. Look in the
MapX help file regarding deployment of MapX applications. Not only do you
have to include a bunch of dll's, ocx's, and tlb's, you also have to install
fonts, register some (but not all) of the dll's, register the tlb's, write
registry keys. It's a pain, but if you follow the instructions by the
letter, it does work. I've had success installing MapX using InstallShield
Professional, and lesser versions could probably do the job as
well.

Simply put, the VB Package Deployment wizard can't do
it. Also, installing the full SDK as you're doing *might* violate some
licensing issues.

One rumor had it that MapX 4 (which should be out soonish) was
going to include it's own installation routine... but rumors are
rumors.

Having a heck of a time trying to address match in MI 4.5.

1999-08-18 Thread D W

Hi Richard, view your street data in a browser window and see if there are
any street number range columns, from left, to left, etc. where the house
address numbers are present. If no numbers are present you can only geocode
off of the muliple street segments present, i.e., you have no way to
distinquish which segment to pick. If you have street intersection data you
might be able to geocode to that level.

Re: MI Theme colors

1999-08-18 Thread CISGWW

here are two answers i received to the following:

my table has a field with 10 specific values in it that i set up color
themes for. when the entrire table is mapped, the colors correctly match the
corresponding value of the field. for example: apple=red, pear=yellow,
grape=purple, pea=green.

however, when i query and map only a portion of the table, it may only have
2 of the 10 values present, such as pear and pea. the color theme then
becomes pear=red and pea=yellow. the color is being determined by the order
the
value appears in the field, rather than the value itself.

the thematic map type=individual and the template name=region indvalue.

how do i set up the theme colors to always be apple=red, pear=yellow,
grape=purple, pea=green, regardless of the order they appear in the field

 Answer from MI tech support:

Unfortunately, you would need to write a MapBasic application to do this.
There really isn't anyway to set this up in MapInfo.

 Cindy
 MapInfo Technical Support

here's an answer from the MapInfo-L discussion group...

1. In your dataset, make sure that all of your particular data pieces are
assigned a #. For instance, pear = 1, apple = 2, orange = 3
2. Under Ranges in the Thematic Map Step 1 section, choose Area Ranges,
Default.
3. Pick your table and field in section 2.
4. In step 3 Customize area, choose Ranges...
5. For Method, pick Custom.
For # of ranges, choose 10
6. Type in ranges: 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, etc. for all ten items.
7. Choose OK
8. Choose Styles in the Customize section.
9. Make your color style for each item, then hit OK.
10. SAVE the template as "Greg's Fruit Salad," or whatever.

MI Area overlap

1999-08-18 Thread Peter Walsh

I have a tricky SQL someone might be able to help me with (at least, it's
tricky for me).
I have two tables of polygons, one is land use, the other are management
units. I need a breakdown of land use within each management unit. I need to
be able to say for example, "management unit Type A comprises 10% cropping,
and 90% grazing land use."

There was a discussion not long ago about the use of the AreaOverlap
function, but I can't seem to make it work for me. It would be nice if I
could do this by calculating proportion overlap, rather than having to split
the land use polygons. The two files are very big and complex.

Any ideas?
