Hello All, In response to Michelle...If all the little quirks don't kick you the math sure will. Here's a great site I found a long while back about "Greate Circle" calcs. It's geared to aviation but the formulas are all there. It can at least make a contribution to the "porcelein reading room". MI: Labels at middle of the line only
Hi (again!) I would like to display labels for a series of lines, so that each line is labeled ONCE only, and that label should be in the middle of the line. I've tried setting this up in the label options (layer control) box, but it's still not doing what I want. Below (if it's formated correctly) is what I want (A) and (B) is what I'm getting. eg: A / B/ __1_ 1_1___ __2_ __2___2 __3_ __3___3 I can't turn "Duplicates off" since there are several "blocks" of lines, each starting with "1" (and for anyone wondering where all these crazy line questions are coming from - the above represents crop lines in a vineyard) Thanks for any suggestions, *Michelle SmithTechnical ManagerFrontier Mapping Pty Ltd**

MI multiple raster tiles
I have always wondered which tile is used for vector registration purposes in the case of multiple rasters tiles opened in the same map window. Is it the first tile that is opened and, if that tile happened to be fractionally misaligned to the other tiles (read a slight rotation) during the scanning process, what effect this has on vector creation operations? I would also imagine that any rotational errors would be greatly magnified through the remaining raster tiles if the registering tile happened to be at one of the extremeties of the project. We have always been very cautious about this to the point of closing all tables before seperately and individually opening each raster tile for digitising. I was just looking for a bit of discussion on the pitfalls and benefits of seamless raster tables and any other problems or solutions listers have come accross when dealing with multiple ratser images. Just as a suggestion, one way to provide a "simple" fix to misaligned tiles (read rotational discrepencies)would be to have the registration process offer an option to perform a simple rotation on the underlying raster image. I have seen some mapping software offer this option to physically correct the orientation of the raster image on the basis of a registration and it seams to work well. MI Crystal reports refresh data
Hi All I hope I am just being really thick but I can't work out how to refresh the data in Crystal Reports. I have created a report from within MI. I close CR down and edit my data in MI. I open the report again but the changes I have made in MI are not reflected in the report. I have tried the Report/Refresh Data command in CR but it seems to just refer back to the original data. I notice that CR seems to use a temporary table - I guess it cannot read the MI data files directly. Surely the CR/MI interface is a bit more sophisticated than this! Re: MI How do you generate even Margins with a 750C+ usingMapInfo 6.0??
Lynn - at first your post puzzled me. Then it rang a bell in this sleepy Monday morning head of mine. You are probably selecting the default "ANSI E 34 X 44" page size. Instead of doing that (and if I recall this right) click on the "More Sizes" button next to the window. Then click in the area under "Custom Sizes" and choose 36 (wide) X 44 (or longer.) The margins should default to an even size on both sides. This tripped me up on my HP 750C+ for a while and perhaps for other listers as well. Tell me if this works. Good Luck! RE: MI MB: How do I convert PLINE into LINE?
Michelle, You can make the pline editable, select all segments that you want combined into a line, then select Objects>Combine. Note that many records will become one record, so if the attributes differed for each line segment, you will lose all but one. But if all the attributes are the same, just keep the first value... Re: MI advice on making static maps for web
One option you may want to look into in the future is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) to do your mapping functions. SVG is a very inexpensive solution when it comes to publish maps on the web. Scalable Vector Graphics is a new, completely open standard recommended and developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The development of SVG is seconded by many notable software groups and scientific communities around the globe. SVG offers all the advantages of Flash, the de-facto vector web standard of the day, plus the following features: non-propriterary, embedded fonts, extensible markup language (XML),stylesheets (CSS), interactivity (zoom-in, recenter, etc.), animation. With the help of the DOM, full HTML compatibility is obtained. For a more detailed description of svg check (http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/Overview.html) We have prepared an SVG Mapping Technology Preview at http://www.dbxgeomatics.com/svg.asp This includes many samples of SVG maps (as well as an introduction to SVG). RE: MI Visibility of raster images
Hi Frank, Unfortunately, there's no way of adding a default zoom range into a TAB file. But an alternative might be to seamlessly map all your raster tiles together using the "Seamless Table Manager" in Tool Manager and then only open the seamless table. This way you'd only have to open one table and there would be no zoom range on it. Hope this helps. Mapinfo tables do not for allow multi-user update. There are two ways round this limitation: - Store your data on a server database such as Oracle 8i or Spatialware - Implement some fairly complicated system of updating where each user writes their updates to a temporary table, and then schedule updates from the different users' temporary tables into the main shared table Peter Elphick - Original Message - From: Ian Tidy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, September 18, 2000 5:09 AM Subject: MI Multiple user access to MS Access Database Files > Hello > > I have been trying to enable multi user access in MI Pro 6.
