Hey guys, Went out and bought a DMX yesterday (~145$). But before I build it into my PC I'd like to know the following things: 1. I've only got a German Manual. Even though my German is fairly good, I'd like to have an English one. Is it available anywhere on the web ? 2. Where do I plug in the dig.out of my CD-ROM ? 3. The digital "add-on" card has in its wrapping two cables. One flatcable and one cable with two wires (black and red). The flatcable is for connecting the digital board with the DMX, but what is the other cable for ? 4. Can I use standard RCA cables for the COAXial digital in/out? This variant, TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK, is identical to the original ExploreZip worm in that it is auto-spamming malicious code that destroys data on the infected system. The only significant difference between this variant of the worm and the original is that TROJ_EXPZIPWMPAK is compressed with a different type of compression format, thereby evading protection for the previous worm. Re: MD: MZ-R1
From: Dan Hergott [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: MD: Purchasing a MZ-R1 Hi I am considering purchasing a used MZ-R1 for $145 CDN ($90 US) Does this seem ok in price for a unit that was manufactured in 1994? I bought an MZ-R1 when they were first released and used it for 2 months before sending it back to Sony with a log of problems. It would frequently lock-up and often 'lost' the last recording. Battery life was just 1 hr. It was a large machine too, very heavy compared with modern versions. I got a full refund and I bought a portable DAT instead. In fact I didn't get back to Minidisc machines for another 5 years and they've improved immensely since that first machine. In my view, get the best modern model you can afford, pass on the MZ-R1. For me it's more about 'How do we pack CD audio quality onto a 2.5" disc without sacrifying to much of the quality?' Modern MD players are smaller than portable cassette-players, they are a lot smaller then CD-players and some are even smaller than the MP3 players. Their sound-quality is better than most portable cassette-players and a lot better compared to MP3 players. I can easyly detect the difference between a tape, MP3 and CD. I can't between MD and CD. MD: Skipping on recorded MD's from early model
Hello, About a year ago, I purchased a used Sony MDS-302 which worked fine but the MD's recorded on this model skipped, mostly at the first track, when played on a new portable player (Sony MZ-E25). The skipping symptoms were dropped music (dead spots where silence was heard instead of music), a quick movement from one area of the song to another (as if it was sped up momentarily) and very slow cueing when play was initiated. Almost all the time, MD's recorded on the 302 played fine on itself. Infrequently, it would skip on its own recordings. I took the 302 unit to the Sony Service Center and they replaced the optics. The problem persisted. I thought it was bad MD stock but tests with a friend's new MD recorder disproved that theory. The skipping problem does not occur all the time. I cannot see a pattern. It does seem to be more prevalent with certain kinds of MD stock and is related, almost always, to the first track. The only conclusion I can draw is a slight incompatibility between the older 302 unit and the newer models. Perhaps something with the Table of Contents? Had anyone else encountered this phenomena? Thanks. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: MD: Skipping on recorded MD's from early model
It sounds like maybe the sled that carries the optical block could be sticking at the inner end of it's travel. It could also be temperature related - extreme cold or heat causing more errors... It's probably worth taking it back to Sony and explain that it is still not fixed and emphasis the fact that the problem is always with track one... Anyone noticed that if you pull the earphone plug just a little way out (2-3mm) on the RM-MZR50 the audio turns to mono and loses the main vocal track? Yep, the same happens with the sharp 831. But i wouldn't use it for Karaoke, because you'll lose anything that's in both the left and right channels. I think what happens is that somehow it puts everything in mono, only one channel is out of phase, and therefore you lose the main vox because they're panned centre.
