Re: MD: Problem with snake invasion....
From: Martin Schiff [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, February 13, 2000 4:41 AM Subject: RE: MD: Problem with snake invasion Could it be that the mike is not getting enough power? The mic runs of a single AA cell, which I replaced before we started. When my battery gets low in my battery box with my AT853 mikes, there is a lot of hiss. When I replace the battery, they are very quiet. Is the mike plugged into the mike input of your R55, or is it coming from a mixer? It's going through a basic converter box that changes the 3.5mm miniplug into two 6.35mmm mono jacks and these are going into a mixer which feeds DAT and MD. I've not had a problem with mixer hiss with ths mixer before, but then I've never recorded anything this quiet before either.. Other than that, you may need a different mike. -- Martin I'll try a different mixer or try without one altogether, but I think you may be right - I need to try to borrow a much better mic... or better still a few... MD: Odp: European Prices of MT821
Hi, I am in the market for a Sharp MD-MT821 and have seen it for about £176 here in the UK (also £190 inc. 9 MDs) and was wondering what the prices are in the rest of Europe, especially France, Germany and Switzerland. I bought mine for 600DM in Germany (about 210£) with no MDs, just the optical cable, cinch, etc... MD: MDS-JA20ES weirdness
Hi, I'm experiencing some weirdness with this unit regarding Control A1, track marking and TOC writing. I use (following the manual) to activate the "megacontrol" on it (It's hooked to a CDP-CX57 50+1 CD caroussel via S-Link Control-A1) to make random recordings to a MD for later listening on my car. I was assured that the S-link cable, although Sony specify a mono one, could be stereo. I'm using a stereo one, and it _seems_ to be working. Nevertheless, it sometimes "hangs" when I try to turn megacontrol off, and have to switch both CD caroussel and MD deck completely off to return to a sane state. Don't know if this happens due to the stereo cable or what... Second, when recording those random playlists, almost everytime a disc is changed in the caroussel, a silent 5 sec track is recorded on the MD while the change is in progress. I obviously can delete those tracks, but apart from being an annoyance, It seems (have read that also somewhere) that deleting little tracks don't free really the space for its use. Anyway, what's the S-link for then? The third odd thing is that sometimes, when it's time to do a TOC update, the unit hangs forever with "TOC writing" blinking on its display. I have waited even hours for it to finish, so I'm almost sure it's hanged. There is a turnaround though: I switch off power by unplugging it, and when switched on again, it "recovers" the TOC to the correct state. Any opinions? greets, *---(*)---**-- Francisco J. Jog Dial is the worst I have ever used, but I don't really use it that much. Remote does some of what the jog dial is supposed to be used for but better. Q-Surround and 8 watts per channel fills a small bedroom with sound really nicely and features like timer recording and play allow me to record radio programs (in theory) and use it as a big (and expensive) alarm clock (in practice). __ Do You Yahoo!?
