MD: Lost permanently?
Hello there, Your list is my last resort. I work at a radiostation here in Holland, Veronica FM. I do weekends 1 - 4 pm. My best bits and beds were on two MD's. Every week, I culled the best calls from our VoxPro and added them on an MD. Well, guess what. My MD's won't talk to me anymore. After recording what must have been track 61 (makes me cringe to think of all the good stuff I've lost), as I tried playing a track, it just sat there, winking "NO TRACK" at me, with three zeroes. Everything was gone. - We use Denon, the cartridge style. This particular model is a 900. - I did try playing on another machine, same type. No go. - There was plenty of recording time left on the MD. - Same thing happened to another MD - same victim. - I did close the recording track correctly, by pushing the 'standby/cue' button, getting out of record mode. How can I reclaim the lost material? Oh, I'm not a technician, so "S/Pdif signal "validity Bit / CD-Subcode" data area" - no capisco. Can you help? MD: Minidisco problems
I've just had a very poor experience with Minidisco, to wit: 1) They type the billing address on a label instead of the shipping address (so they claim, I have no idea if this was the actual problem with the address.) 2) They send out an order confirmation that *doesn't include a reference number.* Had they emailed me a reference number, I would have entered it immediately and discovered that it was going to the wrong address before it left the dock in Oakland. The reference number arrived almost a day after the order was shipped. The phone droid doesn't know what happened, blames a computer glitch. 3) They are unable to reroute the package. Admittedly, UPS is a pain in the ass to deal with--but they *chose* to ship via UPS because it was (to paraphrase) the best choice for *them*, not necessarily for customers. According to them, UPS refuses to reroute it until after it's on the ground in DC on Monday--but it's scheduled for delivery *that day*, which leaves Minidisco with three hours between 5am and 8am Eastern time to contact them. Will anyone at Minidisco actually call them in the middle of the night from CA? I doubt it. And nobody at Minidisco seems to care much that they've probably just lost a customer. ~ Kiran [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- http://www.io.com/contradance/ 1628 5th St NW Wash DC 20001 (202) 483-3373 - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Two possibilities: the data were recorded but the TOC wasn't saved (or the TOC was trashed); or the data weren't even recorded. In the first case, cloning a TOC from a disc that is filled with a single track (stereo or mono, whichever applies to the data you lost) will recover it; most Sony decks and Sharp slot-in portables can clone, but I don't know about Denons, and in any case I wouldn't trust it to that machine. In the second case, you're out of luck. Was any of the material recorded in previous sessions and playable before this happened? Then perhaps the older tracks are recoverable. The only way to know for sure is the same: clone the TOC from a disc filled with one track. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Minidisco problems
I did business with Minidisco in the past and never experienced any problem with them... They are kind person, honest and usually really fast ! Maybe you should call back and ask for the owner... Maybe it was a new person from this company... If I were them, what I should do is to simply send right away another exact order to you and after call UPS to bring back the package to them... Customer Satisfaction must be at the first place everytime ! Re: MD: md-l-digest V2 #738
Back from vacation for over a week, and I am still way behind in reading the digests. It all depends on the type of music you are listening to. Blue sure makes the blues sound good. Red is for the the hot tunes, and Russian . "Mellow, Yellow, That's right Slick" Anyone old enough to recognize what tune that line is from? Green, Irish. and the list goes on G Actually, Jim and Dan, I save my green discs for Christmas music (I could use red too, but I have alot of red discs, and not that much Christmas music on MD - I have tons of it on CD), and my blue discs for blues and jazz. Why? why not? Oh, and I recognized the Donovan text too; but I always thought the word was "saffron". Thanks for setting me straight. By the way, I hated Donovan back in the late '60s; but love him now. James __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Let someone do to him what happened to expresident Reagan's press secretary, Brady and watch how fast (just like Brady's) political convictions change! I think that everyone who has some strong political convection, should be put in the possession of a person who is affected by they that political decision. I agree whole-heartedly with you. I think ever f--g republican in the great (please read the previous word in a tone of sarcasm) US of A that has ever voted against gun control should have a spouse or child blown away by someone and then see if he can justify his stance )of course I don't want to see that happen to anyone - but I'm so pissed off that I have to say that if it did, things might actually change. I hate George W. Bush, but would accept him as president if someone would assisinate him and thus drive the point home (Again, I don't really want to see anyone else deprived of a loved one by some deranged gun-toting individual, but sometimes I think that the only way a god-dd republican will ever learn would be if it happened to his family). Also, in many of the movies being released today, the nudity is the only redeeming quality. Anyway, I like your idea of a MD being provided to all at birth; except I think it should be at a slightly later age, as a rite of passage...say maybe upon beginning first grade. __ Do You Yahoo!? Re: MD: md-l-digest V2 #738
Hi. I don't know about all of the following, but I'm the dude who wrote the thing on gun control. I really don't know how it ended up on the MD list?? Doesn't George W. Bush have this scary look on his face? It's across between extremely mean and f~cken stupid!!! I like to think of him as the Dale Quale (SP?-well I'm dyslexic, what's his excuse?) of presidential nominees. It not so much that I am really excited about Gore (I think he will probably do fine-we know he likes having sex with is own wife-he practically raped her on the podium when he got the nominationlol) and not someone else's. The debates will be the key. We will have to wait and see. But I have a feeling that GWB is not a really bright fellow. I think that Gore is. I don't think that GWB calling someone an A hole (when he didn't know the mikes were on) help his chances any. I think it was a New York Times reporter. Not the best person to piss off when you are running for office. The most important thing is has either of them ever used a Mini Disc?? I'll take back some of what I said bad about Bush if he did and Gore did not G. Lieberman may have. I don't think Cheney would even know how to insert it in the unit. So I don't have any problem with it in most movies.
