Re: MD: SB-Live Digi?
I have the Hoontech daughter board. I think it was about $37 by the time I got it shipped into the country. http://www.votronelectronics.com/hoontech/sbio3.htm www.votronelectronics.com http://www.hoontech.com/ http://www.votronelectronics.com/dist1.htm http://www.votronelectronics.com/hoontech/order.htm Note: If your Sound Blaster Live card is OEM version for Dell computer(Model CT4780 Sound Blaster Live!), the interface board of SB Digital I/O III may not fit properly due to physical obstruction on the sound card. Re: MD: SB-Live Digi?
Jim, First off, thanks for the advice... My card is coming out of a relatively new gateway with an SBLive! card, and the reason I don't know much about it is because it isn't mine, I can't seem to find any other info on it in the device manager, I don't know what is actually coming out the back. I'm staying with friends and unfortunately I don't have any CD devices with me that have optical out. If I can get one from this computer, then I can make disks. I wouldn't mind I suppose getting some type of adaptor, but only if it is something that would be useful in the future. Do you know if one of the outputs is S/PDIF and might work with a converter, or any other outboard solution? I guess the bottom line is if I can find a way to do this that is cheaper than going out and buying some boombox, that's great. Since I'm only staying in my current place for a few months, I'm not really looking to buy a card for someone else's computer. Worst case situation, I'll just have to wait until I can make more MD's... :( Thanks again... -=James --- James Caran e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Current Res: 3242 Garfield Avenue, Alameda CA 94501 Phone: (510)523-6345 Cell: (510)823-6367 Web Crew, http://www.hyannissound.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] having a rough day?-- http://www.hamsterdance.com having a rough day that is someone else's fault?-- http://www.dogdoo.com/ Enjoy... A possible stroke of light though, I seem to recall somwhere back a post about using the SB Live to get a digital output. Was that true? From what I've seen on their web-site, yeah, but I suggest that you (and possibly a few others here) check out this web-page here. Go to; http://www.americas.creative.com/sound/live/ to find out a bit more info. It certainly suggests that you get a digital I/O port with it though. You need an optical output header. The most popular one among the MD community is the Hoontech one (www.hoontech.com), which is relatively reasonably priced. You could also build one yourself or buy one from another vendor, but I don't know of any other vendors which make SBLive optical I/O headers... - Ed. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
