Heated seats and the lumbar supports are options in the 123, albeit very rare ones. My 84 300CD had both, but I suspect they were installed after the fact, as the PO's father was the manager of the MB parts distribution center in New Jersey. The car had all kinds of little tweaks due to his access to (cheap) parts. The seats and console were all factory, so it wasn't an after the fact hack job. I am pretty sure the seats and interior upholstery were completely replaced by him. If the console is black plastic, that's an indication that it may be a Euro. All of the Euro cars had black plastic for the console unless the wood was ordered special. Dan On Oct 20, 2012, at 10:52 AM, Jaime Kopchinski wrote: They were optional, but very rare. Yes Byoo-fert. I made the mistake of calling it bow-fort when we first moved here and got the lecture. Took my wife down there for the weekend last Jan for her birthday, stayed in an old house where the sonofabitch General Sherman (as the innkeeper described him) had stayed for awhile after trashing the Confederacy. They had his picture hanging in a back hall just to commemorate his presence. In the parlor the mantle still bore the inscribed initials of some of his staff -- they had no respect for the house. His men stabled their horses in the old church around the corner, and the town is still pissed about that. The house was then acquired by a carpetbagger for cheap money (if any) after the Unpleasantness. Very simple there are little pins that stick into the bore to hold them in the correct orientation. If you put the barrel back in wrong with the slot not lined up with the pin it will push the pin in. You then have to open the side cover and push the pin back in. Don't need a intake gasket because you do not need to pull the intake. I'll also need seals for the intake manifold yes? I need to put in a new valve cover gasket too, it seems like a good time for that too. IIRC the problem my Indy had was that something got flipped upside down or rotated or something when he took the DV seals out and the engine would either run on 3 cylinders or try to run away. He fought with it away and finally had to bring in a specialist. It didn't *look* like I'd gotten a new IP but its not like I marked the old one either. I don't know of anybody else in my area that will even attempt an old diesel so I'm kind of stuck with this guy. We're about to have an argument over his vendor of center carrier bearings too. Apparently I'm perfectly attuned to hearing the bearing go lng before it gets real loud and he can hear it. He did the one in my car about a year ago and its making noise again... -Curt ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com -- OK Don 2001 ML320 2012 Passat TDI DSG 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager 1957 C182A ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
[MBZ] OT Roller
This afternoon as I was coming home from errands, I got behind an old Roller, maybe a 50s or early 60s version, the big boxy thing with the rounded back. I followed it for a few miles at a stately pace, then the old gent driving it turned off down a back road. I about gagged from the exhaust but it did not seem to have any lead in it that I could smell. It is a gorgeous day here in the Lowcountry, just right for motoring about in your Royce! --R ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
[MBZ] Exhausting
Yesterday I spent a few hours installing new exhaust parts (resonator and muffler) and tightening up the pipes installed where the cat used to be. Added a couple adapter pipes trying to eliminate leaks. I had pretty good success, but there is still an irritating rasp right around peek torque rpm. I can feel two small exhaust leaks, but I suspect the exhaust support from the transmission is the culprit, that's the only one I haven't renewed yet. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '95 E300 '87 300TD ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Yes, may try some muffler tape if that mount hanging off to side of transmission is not the problem. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '95 E300 '87 300TD Rich Thomas richthomas79td...@constructivity.net wrote: muffler tape or that sealer gunk --R On 10/20/12 6:34 PM, Max Dillon wrote: Yesterday I spent a few hours installing new exhaust parts (resonator and muffler) and tightening up the pipes installed where the cat used to be.
