about as tough and look as rough as those boys bucking logs 90 years ago.

Buy only good blades. Lenox, then milwaukee or dewalt.

clay via Mercedes
December 5, 2016 at 11:29 PM
Last week I scored a used Dewalt saw so that I could deprive a PnP car
of its tin bits. Polei had a run in with what must have been a parking
space barrier. The underside supports took the brunt of the impact,
and over the past few years these frame rails have rusted out the
bottom and into the sides. I think there is about a foot of metal that
wants replacement.

I had rented a saw a few months ago to get myself a bit of rear fender
panel, and did very well until I broke the only blade I had on hand.
In the meanwhile, the crop of W126 examples had dried up. In the past
few weeks more S cars showed up, so I need to go hunting. The battery
that came with my saw is a bit low on electrons, and it took two
visits to the yard to get one frame support. I am less than impressed
with a few of the blades that I have dulled in the process, and
squirming around in a gravel filled puddle, while sawing away, makes
for an uncomfortable drive home.

I have a cheap chinese imitation battery on the way so that next visit
I will be able to complete my hunt and move on to another product I
might need.

I search the yard a bunch, but it has been raining over much and most of the
cars have busted out windows or the products have been used for that purpose
and are now soaking wet. The bit of trunk liner I found was then stored on the
roof of the target vehicle until I could return. That did not keep the rain or

It says the only way to get into that is to buy the ticket for $55.
Limit is 500 people and no one gets in during the event without prior
ticket purchase. Probably need to be riding a BMW also. The event
takes place on the military base so no way to get there unless you are

Nice! I'd like to see the side view. I had a monkey ward table saw
driven by a universal motor at 8000 RPM and geared down with a cog
belt. It screamed like a banshee, but had 2 aluminum wings that made a
fairly large table. It was pretty tight and was a good tool. It was
made by some east coast company i never heard of, but apparently they
have a cult following. I still have the tilt arbor from it. I need to
find that cult group to sell it for repair parts.

I scored a new (to me) drill press Friday. I needed a drill press with a
larger throat to engine turn the floor boards for the Tailwind W10 we're
building. The 10" drill press just was not big enough, though it had
worked

fine for the last 15 years. I found this strange one in CL and got it for
2/3rds the asking price. It works great. I've never seen one like this
before, and don't find any info on the web about it.
It is a combo drill press and router. The head has a 1/2" chuck on one end
and a router chuck on the other. You rotate the head 180° to change from
one to the other. The thing seems gear driven. There is a continuous speed
control, with the router speeds 9X the drill press speeds (or there
about).

I trolled Craigslist for months when I moved back to Indiana to set up my wood

Precisely. Hydrogen is not an energy source (unless you live on the sun).
Hydrogen is an energy storage medium (and a troublesome one at that).

Just got done with the application with Hagerty for the 300D. Called my

Hagerty.

I told them I would have done it with them to begin with, since I didn’t know
they wrote multiple lines. They said that Hagerty lets just about anyone write
policies for them, so in a month or two we’ll change the agent of record to my

There are a lot of pilots employed "flying the pipelines" looking for
leaks. They usually find them. Then crews are sent to repair the pipe. Not
cheap. I hear "pipeline" as a call sign over the air traffic control

there doesn't seem to be a lot of oil contaminated ground water in OK, and
there are a lot of pipelines running through this State. However, I don't

[MBZ] CCF marches on...

2016-12-06 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes
...plying their specialty, stealing elections through intimidation,
death squads threats and other corruption.

Throughout the year, The Horn News reported on multiple instances of
vote swapping, conspiracies to commit electioneering, pictures of
equipment tampering, reports of dead voters, engineered debates, DNC
manipulation, widespread voter fraud, illegal coordination and sabotage,
altered primaries, unethical media influence, and a flat out rigged
Democratic primary that was so blatant, one Stanford research paper
suggested that the odds that Clinton did NOT commit widespread fraud to
be 1 in 77 billion.

And she’s not done yet.

Even after the stunning rejecting of the Clinton crime family by the
American people at the polling booth, Hillary’s team has shifted their
tactics – and are frantically working directly with the rogue Electoral
College voters that call themselves the “Hamilton Electors” to overturn
the results.

“Advocates of the long-shot bid to turn the Electoral College against
Donald Trump have been in contact with close allies of Hillary Clinton,
according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions,” POLITICO
reported Monday.

Their plan?

Recruit “Never Trump” Republican electoral voters to choose Ohio Gov.
John Kasich over Trump, denying him the neccessary majority needed to be
elected, and instead move the issue to the House of Representatives to
decide the next president of the United States — where Clinton has
greater widespread support among establishment politicians.

“All 538 members of the Electoral College will meet on Dec. 19 in their
respective state capitals to cast the formal vote for president. Trump
won the popular vote in states that constitute 306 electors — easily
above the 270-vote threshold he needs to become president if all
Republican electors support him,” according to POLITICO. “That’s why
anti-Trump electors are working to persuade at least 37 Republican
electors to ditch Trump, the minimum they’d need to prevent his
election, and join them in support of a compromise candidate, which
could send the final decision to the House of Representatives. Clinton
won the popular vote in states that include a total of 232 electors.”

And with thirteen days to go, the effort is gaining steam. At least one
Republican member of the Electoral College said Monday he’s on board.

Dallas paramedic Chris Suprun previously indicated he would support
Trump, but according to The Associated Press he now says he will refuse
to elect Trump.

“I’m expecting backlash, but that has been par for the course this
campaign. People are unhappy. They’re angry. But I’m angry, too,” said
Suprun, who said that prior to changing his mind he had received
hundreds of emails, letters and phone calls urging him not to support Trump.

Other electors are reporting receiving death threats by Clinton backers
against them and their families.

In the face of such pressure, another Texas Republican elector, Art
Sisneros, resigned last week rather than vote for Trump. Suprun said he
was not resigning but also won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton.

“I am not sure of who I will vote for, but would have to strongly
consider someone like (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich who has both executive and
legislative experience bringing people together,” he said.

Texas law doesn’t mandate that electors vote according to the results of
the state’s presidential election, which Trump won by nine percentage
points over Hillary Clinton. Suprun and the GOP’s other electors signed
pledges at the state Republican convention in Dallas this summer
promising to vote for their party’s nominee, but those aren’t legally
binding.

2016-12-06 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
If anyone is interested, we’re trying to set up another group buy on Benzworld
for an oversize (19mm) rear sway bar that fits Gen II W126 chassis cars.
Heliwig made these for us and are willing to make another run with a minimum of
15 pieces. Price for one shipped anywhere in the CONUS will be around $230.

The folks that got the first run loved them and were very pleased. You can
read the threads on it here:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/2509169-custom-rear-sway-bar-part-deux.html#post13339473

Let me know if you’re interested.

You use Handy Saw blades in a Sawzall?
HB24T is the 24 tooth blade for the Handy Saw handsaw.
My dad has a saw that looks just like a Handy Saw, I wonder what brand it is.

Saw blades.

I use Allway Tools "Handy Saw Blades" HB24T. Hacksaw blades for recip. saws.

I have tried to use the other major suppliers and they do not last.

I have no idea is Allway is still in biz.

2016-12-06 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Having done work with a number of the transmission line companies, I find it
odd that everyone has their shorts in a knot over this. While I have concerns
about the aging infrastructure having dealt with it directly, the transmission
of oil, gas and other such things via pipeline is one of the cheapest, easiest
and safest means of moving such products across the country.

I do take exceptions to the claims of jobs that these projects generate, as
they’re not significant once the construction is complete. I did a lot of work
with Panhandle Eastern, and they had a fair small contingent of people who
maintained and monitored the systems.

Last week I scored a used Dewalt saw so that I could deprive a PnP
car of its tin bits. Polei had a run in with what must have been a
parking space barrier. The underside supports took the brunt of the
impact, and over the past few years these frame rails have rusted out
the bottom and into the sides. I think there is about a foot of metal
that wants replacement.

I had rented a saw a few months ago to get myself a bit of rear
fender panel, and did very well until I broke the only blade I had on
hand. In the meanwhile, the crop of W126 examples had dried up. In
the past few weeks more S cars showed up, so I need to go hunting.
The battery that came with my saw is a bit low on electrons, and it
took two visits to the yard to get one frame support. I am less than

makes for an uncomfortable drive home.

I have a cheap chinese imitation battery on the way so that next

Re: [MBZ] 722.6xx Transmission Filter

2016-12-06 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
It’s an acronym the dealers use for a car that’s in the shop waiting on a part.
If I need a part “VOR’ed”, it means the part has to be brought in from the
depot overnight.

The dealers get dinged for VOR parts so they manage their inventory carefully.
They get an “allowance” of sorts every month for the additional costs related
to these parts that they’re not stocking, so if they exceed it their profit
goes down and MBUSA starts scrutinizing their inventory practices to determine
why they’re not inventorying parts.

The alternative is a “stock” order, which is a collection of parts that are
ordered from the depots and shipped via surface on a regular basis. Stock
orders have no penalties like overnight orders do and even qualify for better
discounts on the parts themselves as well as shipping costs. My experience has
been that items ordered as stock usually take 2-3 business days to arrive at
the dealer.

So it’s incumbent on the dealers to know and manage their parts usage and
inventory practices well to maximize profit. Not only that, if they attempt to
shift the burden of holding inventory to MBUSA by keeping minimal amounts on
hand and VOR’ing a large number of parts on a regular basis, they’ll not only
see reduced profits, they might even be penalized by MBUSA for it.

This is one way you can help to endear yourself (if that’s possible) to your
local dealer. When you order parts, tell them to put the parts on a stock
order (not that they would VOR them without you asking for it anyway) so it
saves them money, maximizes their profit, and shows you to be a considerate
customer. That way when you really, really need something, they’re more likely
to VOR it for you without a fuss.

those are all things that make a difference as well. Consider that my main
line insurer (Allstate) would probably fight me tooth and nail to pay out on a

Check out who owns the railroad that transports all this nasty stuff.
Discuss.

There are several things going here:

Pipelines are safer than moving that sludge in tanker cars -- there
have been two very serious accidents already, one of which pretty much
burned out a Canadian town. Bakken crude is much to thick to ship
unadulterated, so it's mixed with solvent to move it (mostly hexane I
think, but that's really a guess). This solvent is highly flammable.
The crude itself is 'dirty' crude -- full of carcinogens and toxics,
nasty stuff. Better to put in in a pipeline than the crappy, leak if
they fall over rail cars we have available.

The pipeline was designed and routed by a private company with the
State providing eminent domain services, which is probably really a
violation of the Constitution's ban on taking property without
compensation, and no consideration was taken for anything but the
shortest route to Illinois and the existing pipelines.

Western states have been violating Indian treaties for a long time,
and this is just another example of commercial interests ignoring
Indian Nation status, it's hardly a new problem, but is in fact just
another in a long, long series of treaty violations -- any time there
is money involved, the Native peoples get the short end of the stick.

Pipelines leak. Always. Usually underground. Contamination of the
groundwater or the Missouri River by this stuff would last for
centuries if there was a significant leak into the water table,
rendering the water source for the Reservation poisonous for decades.
If this were to happen, I would guess the oil and pipeline companies
would simply declare bankruptcy and walk away from the people they
poisoned. Not the first time, and there isn't much the Sioux could
do, they don't have a police force to collect from said bankrupt
companies.

Therefore there is a considerable conflict between safe shipping of
Bakken crude and protection of everyone's right to clean air and
water. As usual, the money is all on the oil company side, and money
"lubricates" the political system in the US.

There is absolutely no reason for the pipeline to go where it is
except it's the straightest line from the Bakken fields to Illinois.
Oil company could care crap for anything except saving a few bucks.
This is the issue with the Keystone -- cost more to route it around
the exposed water table in a protected wetlands, the oil company could
give a crap if they make half the state lose their ground water for
drinking or irrigation. A little forethought instead of chasing
pennies could have eliminated much of the problem, but you know, gotta
get that oil going today, might have to defer some profit a couple
years, such a bad thing.

Little people against corporate interests. Unusual result, the normal
thing is for police to disperse the protesters and trample their rights.

We will see how this ends up. Sadly, probably an oil pipeline through
someone's sacred ground dribbling toxins into the water supply.
