I pulled the cable housing loose from the backing plate when I was working on
the wheel bearing on my W163. Just grabbed the cable end with pliers and
yanked, and it pulled the housing back into place.

Metro would need a tiny diesel, like a VW TDI or a 1.6L Clean Turbo Diesel
(CTD).
Unfortunately, General Motors, after totally failing to advertise or try to
sell the 1.6 CTD for three years, has announced that it won't be available in
2020 Equinox or Terrain (and they already announced there won't be any 2020
Cruze, diesel or gas).

It was a learning experience for me when I changed the parking brake

Loosen the yoke which has the cables which go to the rear brakes on the

get more slack to allow the mechanism shown in IMG_2071.png to reduce its
overall length to allow the shoes to rest on the big tab at the bottom.

I figured out how to get it back together and how the bottom actuator
thing works.  With it all back together the shoes are way too far
apart at the bottom and the brake disk wont go back on. It appears to
me as if the parking brake cable does not extend far enough out.  In
other words, it appears as if that side is like the parking brake is
set.  The passenger side spins free.  When I activate the parking

but not much (as in it is already pulled in somehow). Why won't the

How heavy is it? I was going to make fun of it at first but the engine in a

For a little diesel sports car I'd look to a TDI. The old VE engines like my
'98 had can be souped up to 150hp which doesn't sound like too much but
remember its a 4 cylinder 1.9l diesel. Very small and fairly light, like under
400#.The new common rail 2.0l engines start at 150hp in a similar size package.
I don't know the weight but it can't be a lot more although the associated
electronics are a bigger deal.

Pull the engine, transmission, computers, shifter, and all associated wiring
harnesses.
Would go nice in a W124, W201, or W210. If not a W210, just get an aftermarket
intercooler.
A W124/201 with 24v turbo diesel and electronic overdrive transmission would be
sort of unique.

Mitch.

My favorite comedian growing up! Percy Dovetonsils and other brilliant
skits, some with Edie Adams his beautiful wife. Died young, like so many
others (Gilda, Andy Kaufman, Belushi, John Candy, Phil Hartman, the list
goes on...)

327kmi. Runs great. Has burned no oil since I changed it a coupla months ago, a
few kmi. I’m thinking it needs to go in something. The intercooler was smashed.

The motor is worth money. Save it. It will drop into any w124 300d, ideally
a 1995. Intercooler piping needs some customization. How many miles are on
it? I need one for when the current one blows up.

Buy a new one. Good time of year to get a 2019, or soon will be.
Interest rates are still pretty good and it is nice to have a vehicle
that does not need any work for a long while. I normally have not bought
new, but I bit the bullet and bought my 2013 F150 Supercrew new 6 years
ago. I have done very little to it in 6 years apart from oil changes etc.

Have you test driven a van? Normally, that would not be high on my list but I have

V6 and lots of modern amenities. Not too fancy as it lacks sunroof and leather
seating but has most of what one would want or expect. Rear seats fold into the
floor so one has lots of hauling room and it has seats for at least 6 adults if one
puts 2 in the 3rd row. Rides fairly decently and handles OK. I am not treating it
like a sports car but it seems pretty tight yet. It is a 2015 model with about
87,000 miles on it.
