One of the reasons the epidemiologists are worried is that this virus
spreads over twice as fast as the "common"flu and colds. I read that the
"common" flu is spread to 1.2 persons per infected individual. This virus
is spreading at 2.5 persons per infected individual - thus a much faster
and wider spread. My numbers are from memory - probably off a bit, but the
relationship is close.

Just nature's way of dealing with over population

huge problem since we slept through the initial latency period pretending it 
wasn't gonna be bad.

What can I say, epidemiologist have been trying to persuade politiciians for at 
least 30 years that we are due for a big epidemic, either a nasty flu (ten 
years overdue on that one) or a novel thing like the corona virus.

Three percent death rate and say 10% severe enough to require hospitalization 
is gonna be a HUGE problem -- 10 million extra patients will flatten our health 
care system, to say nothing of the fact that nearly all our medical supplies 
now come from a country that can only prevent a health care disaster by 
shutting down whole cities.

I guess we will "discover" global warming when south florida ends 50 miles 
south of Orlando.

not use vodka as hand sanitizer.


The issue was raised Thursday when a customer said on Twitter that 
they had been using Tito's Handmade Vodka to make homemade hand sanitizer.


"I made some hand sanitizer out your vodka. The hand sanitizer doesn't 
taste bad either. Cheers to Tito's vodka. Keeping me germ-free and 
feeling good at the same time," the customer wrote.


Tito's responded with a serious statement warning other customers not 
to follow their example.


"Per the CDC, hand sanitizer needs to contain at least 60 percent 
alcohol. Tito's Handmade Vodka is 40 percent alcohol, and therefore 
does not meet the current recommendation of the CDC," the brand tweeted.

[MBZ] Booze not safe as hand sanitizer

March 6 (UPI) -- The Texas-based makers of Tito's Handmade Vodka issued an 
unusual statement in response to a customer's comment: Do not use vodka as hand 
sanitizer.

The issue was raised Thursday when a customer said on Twitter that they had 
been using Tito's Handmade Vodka to make homemade hand sanitizer.

"I made some hand sanitizer out your vodka. The hand sanitizer doesn't taste 
bad either. Cheers to Tito's vodka. Keeping me germ-free and feeling good at 
the same time," the customer wrote.

Tito's responded with a serious statement warning other customers not to follow 
their example.

"Per the CDC, hand sanitizer needs to contain at least 60 percent alcohol. 
Tito's Handmade Vodka is 40 percent alcohol, and therefore does not meet the 
current recommendation of the CDC," the brand tweeted.

I had it at the wrong detent.   I thought the pins would not go in at 
the wrong detent.   I think it would have popped right out if i'd had 
the switch on the right detent.  Never did that before...


I did eventually find the right pdf, but it had no elucidation.

In the meantime, I looked up AWG to mm and 12 ga is just a hair over 
2mm.   I made a new pair out of 12 ga solid copper.   But the 1.5mm ball 
driver allen wrenches are big enough across the lands to pop em off if 
you on the right detent.

Been trying to get the ign. lock and cover off the 300D (1987)   Have 
1.5mm pins in each side, both about 1" deep, but can't get the thing to 
release.   As I recall, when the pins are in, both the lock cyl and 
cover pull off on this model.


What am I doing wrong?  Can't get the cyl out, the cover off or both off 
together.

I was just thinking today while I was driving the 230k $600E320 that it is 
actually a pretty decent car that could probably go a long time unless the 
electronics start getting wonky.  It’s not particularly exciting or compelling 
but does its job ok. While i was pondering this I was seeing these other E 
classes around and none of them gave me any tingles, though an E63 wagon could 
be interesting...

This observation suggested to me that a 126 or maybe 124 would be a reasonable 
alternative for a long-term reliable ride though the 210 is obviously more 
refined in some respects and is more fuel efficient, which I guess is an aspect 
of the nannies. I really liked the $500E300, but this gasser is OK.  I’ve never 
driven a 140 so don’t know about those but I like the idea of a bigger car. 

Maybe if I respray this other $500E300 I would feel more tingly.  That NA E300 
I looked at the other day was a really pretty dark blue, darker tan interior, I 
really liked that.  This white one has a lighter beige interior which I guess 
would be good with a dark blue.

Public Health scientists and physicians look at this as an opportunity to study 
how pandemics spread in the modern world and which measures are most effective 
in stopping them. It's a unique situation since they are reasonably certain it 
began at a specific pig market in China. (As usual some Chinese say the U.S. 
created the virus, and some Americans are saying the Chinese created the virus; 
but it's agreed by all that it began in a certain city in China and that's good 
enough for tracking it worldwide. If a truly deadly virus begins to spread, 
what scientists learned from this "flu virus" may allow them to stop the spread 
of the deadly virus.

available), I'll have to look at "close enough" sizes I guess.  i wonder 
if Kumho has something, those seem decent.

 I don't think its a hoax, I think its overblown. This is SARS/Swine flu/H1N1 
all over again. The media hammers on it continuously and makes people scared so 
idiots do stupid stuff like the Australian run on toilet paper.If you're doing 
the stuff you should be doing anyway (washing your hands, being relatively 
healthy) your chance of infection and death is relatively low.
You're much more likely to die of heart disease...

Not sure about NA OM617 but in winter storm of 2013 big tree branch came
down on my 82 CD. As I was getting ready to kiss it good by, body shop
called and said ins co would not total it. Repairs were about 6k and car
booked at at 13400. So  I got a new pant job,new sunroof etc out of it. I
did buy RF  fender from Rusty so it could be done then. YMMV

If there are fewer goods to ship, truckers will be hurt more than
benefited by less expensive diesel. Diesel is not truckers' only expense
and less driving will not affect their fixed expenses:

 - Vehicle and cargo insurance
 - Health insurance for the trucker and family
 - Living costs and insurance for the trucker and family
 - Vehicle registration and fees (which are many!)
 - Taxes (which also are many! Some people say truckers do not
   pay their fair share of road maintenance and other costs,
   but that is just nonsense. Those people are uninformed.)
 - Truck and possibly trailer payments
 - Vehicle maintenance, including tires (18 at $300-700 each,
   though these costs will be less for fewer miles)
 - Most likely other things I cannot think of at the moment

Less usage will mean cheaper gas, cheaper shipping, cheaper farming, cheaper 
food...
So yeah the oil markets and energy companies will be hurt but consumers and

(R-Alaska) about what happens if a COVID-19 outbreak lingers into the
summer, Birol conceded that a further downward revision would follow and
noted that Monday's report will include an "adverse case" scenario.

Sustained downward pressure domestically will be felt on shale production,
he said. Bloomberg reported

 yesterday that Exxon Mobil Corp. is slowing drilling in Texas' Permian
Basin over virus fears.

*"Oil prices will experience a downward pressure*, and in the case of the
United States if this downward pressure continues for a long time, it may
have impact on the shale production," said Birol.

Responding to a question from Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), Birol
said a global glut in solar panels should minimize the short-term impacts
on the solar sector, even though a "big chunk" of the panels comes from
China and other Southeast Asian countries.

"If the situation gets under control in a short period of time, we will not
see any problem because there is a surplus of solar panels in the world,"
he said. "But if it continues for over a year, we may see some bottlenecks."

I should monetize this 78 I got then, Curley and Max and I got all new 
brakes on it, runs well, has a bit of rust but otherwise very nice.  
NA engine.  I need to go bleed the brakes again then drive it some as 
it gets warmer.
