[MBZ] Well I went off and bought these

These are total barn finds. Story is these people bought this 180 acre farm. 
The previous owners died 25 years ago and all their kids have died since except 
for one son. He sold it to the new owners as is and didn’t want any of the 
contents. These 2 cars were sitting in the barn for the last 25 years. 
Supposedly the red 300d ran when parked. The 220d supposedly had the engine 
rebuilt not long before it was parked.  The 300D had some minor rust but the 
220d is mostly rust free. Got them for $500 on a handshake deal. They gave me 
the keys and I will come back next week to pay and pick them up. I’m local and 
I guess they were getting flooded with crazy people from California.

Not really. There was a really good deal on one of those collapsible/folding 
ladders at Home Despot I was interested in, but you can’t do a store pickup, 
you have to go to the store to buy it. Nope. Not to mention I want it for the 
Flagstaff house and I’m in Tampa this week. I was going to order it for store 
pickup and have the youngest son pick it up for me.

I think I found some list in like 04 or 05 when we got the 79 300TD for the 
boy.  I “applied” to the RE list I think it was but was never accepted into the 
Kool Kids, not being worthy enough I guess. Probably just as well, saved the 
trouble of being kicked out.

I bought my first rustbucket 111 in 1998, so started with the Mercedes
Veterans group, then R-E, briefly joined MBCA, left after they were less
than thrilled with the mouse I brought to a meeting (I figured that since I
found it in my newly-purchased 1968 220D it was apropos), then was in at
the beginning of the original Dickarde Banned and MBZ lists, then off to
the K'leb lists when they started...

I've pretty much had at least one beater MB in the fleet since 1998, which
should qualify me for some sort of Eternal Masochist award...  :D

M112 is a very bulletproof engine with good longevity and low maintenance 
costs/requirements. Know issues? Probably the only thing I can think of is the 
breather getting leaky, which is a once in a 100k issue.
