Well, in all fairness, he likely wouldn't have used the tools very much. I guess I should be happy that we raised a man who has a mind of his own even if his views are somewhat different than my own. He and his younger brother are very different people. My younger son is a journeyman auto tech with a significant investment in Snap-On tools. My elder son is an architect and is not much interested in any sort of do it yourself mechanical work. He does do work on his home. He and his wife have painted every square inch of the interior since they bought the house about 5 years ago, and have renovated both bathrooms. They have gutted the basement and have plans to improve it as a workshop mostly. They have plans to re-do the kitchen next. They have also made some fairly major changes to the back yard. She is a landscape architect so no doubt felt compelled to put her mark on it. I just thought that the tool set was a good thing to have around even if he wasn't into rebuilding his car engine on the weekend. He buys new vehicles and has them serviced at the dealer. Re: [MBZ] Beautiful car, salvage title, too high price -- 2008 Mercedes-Benz s-class S 63 AMG Sedan 4D, $18, 400
This S550 I got has a salvage title now. I could see where it would be very costly to repair with new parts or even aftermarket, but it has been quite doable with used parts and a few new ones, aside from the effort and time involved with the chase. Once it's done the car will be fine, not really anything structural or fatal. I suppose it will never be worth what a straight-title car is, but it has been fun to sort it out. I have one more part coming and then I should be able to get it all back together, change the trans filter/fluid, and get the AC sorted. I'll maybe have $2k into all that so it is kind of a "cheap" way to get a nice big newer S. --FT On 7/18/22 6:22 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes wrote: Yes, it's when the insurance company has determined that damage exceeds value of the car and they buy it. Her BF came and determined there was no fuel pressure at the fuel rail, there is a Schrader valve there you can press and fuel should squirt out. So maybe fuel pump? She did some research and found out there is an extended warranty (now 15yr) on the fuel system so if it is in there she is covered. She had the shop she bought it from in CH come collect it this morning, they ran diagnostics and found "Standing fuel in the sending unit" which I don't quite understand but it is covered by the extended warranty, so they were having it shipped off to the MB stealer, wherever it is. So anyway, some good news I guess, at least it won't cost her anything to get it going again. -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archiveshttp://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archiveshttp://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

They should not be confused with a "sports car", they are "grand touring" cars. I found the SLC to be very nice on the highway, and the same as most other MBs in town. I'd say the SLC was the equal to the SDL on the highway. I only wish it had the 560 engine and four speed tranny, oh, and the ACCIII (and no sunroof). It’s there. If you look at the picture of the driver’s seat and dash, you can see the stalk just below the oil pressure gauge and at the edge of the steering wheel spoke on the left. Rust on an R107 is a very bad thing. Anywhere. That driver’s door is a mess. Rear bumper is definitely tweaked, as are the bumper caps on the front.
