However long this job takes you, you will be more than amply rewarded when you drive along at night and see the multicolored lights in the center of the dash. Truly glorious. I'm glad my instructions are useful! As for the clips, there are two... the C shaped clips that hold the cable housing to the lever assembly can be removed with your fingers or a flat head screwdriver. They will go flying so be careful. The second clips are the ones that hold the cables to the levers - the castelled washers, can just be pried off with a small screw driver. They'll also go flying if you're not careful. The outer cables for the lower levers are different - you need to access a philips head screw from above in order to release the cables. I assume I talked about this in the instructions on my site (which I wrote 20 years ago, so I don't remember). As for any parts that might go flying, you can order them from the classic center. Its best a send a photo of what you need. There are many many different variants of these levers and cables and I'm always surprised when I find another version. I suspect a new blower motor is in your future. The one in my 4.5 recently died and I need to replace it also. Its not as terrible of a job as the internet would lead you to believe. There are more difficult jobs, for sure. Good luck Jaime On Sat, Nov 12, 2022 at 7:35 PM David Bruckmann via Mercedes < mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > I'm finally addressing the ventilation system on my W108 280SEL 4.5. > > Months ago the fan stopped, with resultant stream of smoke. I put a new throttle cable on today and went to adjust it per the procedure. This car supposedly has ASR per the build sheet and the idiot light for it is on. I’m hoping that stuff fixes that aspect. Locomotives are all electric. Hydrogen recombines back into water while releasing electricity very nicely. The problem is that generating hydrogen isn't particularly efficient. Maybe my Hertz Tesla has some sort of sport suspension on it. But why would Hertz do that? It just seems to be very stiffly sprung with limited suspension travel. I have never been in a car that hobby horses over uneven pavement like this thing. Frost heaves are what did Pobst in at Pikes Peak. Johnny Cash's old Rolls was at my upholstery guy's shop a few months back with a whole new electric drivetrain in it. I think that might actually be a better car than this Y thing. I can see a 560 chassis responding well to electric treatment. But the problem with all this hot rod stuff is lack of support. Unless you are a garage hero with electric motors, where do you turn when something acts up, like the heater or AC? Hope to live near the conversion shop I guess. Tesla seems to have pushed the motors and heating/cooling loops for cabin, battery and motors/transmission to very elegant levels of sophistication and efficiency, from what I read anyway. But the majors will close that gap quickly. Toyota just launched an iron lithium battery car in China - totally new tech for cars and no degradation of battery capacity over time with less fire risk apparently. I got the new wheel speed sensor on the ML. Was easier to get at the connector by taking off the wheel well liner. Kinda glad I did, there’s huge amount of crap up behind the lower rear part of the fender I’ll hose out of there. It amazes me the engineers still design these hidden rust inducers. Other than that the front is surprisingly clean, no oil leaks or anything. I’m looking to see just how bad the engine mounts are going to be… If the connector end was a bit easier to get at it would have been a 10min job not counting getting the jack organized and taking off the wheel. --FT Sent from iFōn > On Nov 12, 2022, at 10:51 AM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes > wrote: > > Coolant tanks and power steering reservoirs are common sources of leaks on > these and the parts are surprisingly cheap.
