Does it leak air? My concern with those is that the connection that
permits the reel to turn will leak like a sieve.

I was using a 1/2” rough/long spade bit to drill holes in railroad ties for

A retractable air hose would be nice, but my compressor can’t be stored where I
can get power to it. As a result I would have to move it out and plug it in. By
then I might as well use my 50’ air hose. I live for the day when I can have a
shop with dedicated air piping/compressor.

Why can't you get power to the compressor. Run a surface line down the
wall. Use conduit or BX if need be.

I have a HF (I think) garden hose reel and it leaks pretty badly. I've had it
for several years, looked for a replacaement last time I was there and didn't
see one. I've accidentally let it freeze a few times which is probably the main
reason it leaks.

Briefly (isn't it alway so) some years ago Costco had a very nice metal
rollaround garden cart
with a substantial hose reel on it. A number of them turned up in the thrift
stream around here,
and I bought what I could. I think we have four, and they don't leak. I
repurposed one of them
to be a reel for running a long power cable out to the mailbox for Christmas
lights. (A couple
of rolls of surplus direct-burial 14-2 romex from when Home Base closed up
shop.)

The parents of the most beautiful girl in my high school had one. Theirs was
bright yellow but sadly an automatic.
She lived around the corner from me and I got to ride in the Corrado once with
her mom driving. Her folks were intelligent enough not to let their high school
age daughter drive it.

I did get to drive their Saab 99 once, that was a  fun car too but not anywhere
near as quick as the Corrado.

I have two air reels - both from HF. The only leaks I have in the air
system are at the drains in the filters/regulators. I have 150 feet of air
tubing in two circuits with the reels at each end.
The HF hose in the reels cracks and breaks at the end you use - I've added
"whip hoses" to the ends to see if I can extend the life of the HF hose.

Sure but so do the quick connects. I've got a shut off at the compressor, just
turn that off when I'm done using it.

Angie, of course, never remembers to shut the air off. I can always tell when
she has used the air because the tank is empty. I consider it a good time to
drain the condensate...

Garbage. I have bought Goodyear air and water hoses at the local hose shop.
Over a decade old, and still 100%. Relatively spendy, but lasts many times
longer than the cheap crap, so a very good value.

The dog always liked to chew on vinyl hoses, but never touched the rubber ones.
Another plus.

Oven cleaner, diluted to start but possibly full strength. Let it sit on the
gunk for a while then wipe off. Don’t use scotch brite or magic eraser type
pads they will scratch the finish. I think Easy Off makes a spray that’s
diluted oven cleaner, may want to try that first.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Stainless steel stove top cleaner

2023-05-04 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
I like the idea of letting it soak.

Maybe a baking soda paste would work. The soaking will be the action that
really breaks up the crud.

Oven cleaner is usually a basic solution. Try it on a hidden area first to make
sure the effect isn't something you don't want...

If it's really stainless steel, oven cleaner should not hurt it but not a bad
idea to test it just to be sure.

Yes anything abrasive will show. It won't really hurt the steel, it will just
scratch/polish that area and it will be visible afterwards.
