Re: [MBZ] Trembling on the brink of (t)reason
About 2-3 grand more than a sedan. 300TD's are getting very rare, mostly 230TE's and a few 280TE's. People are just not selling them. - Original Message - From: "Gary Hurst" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Mercedes Discussion List" Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 2:00 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] Trembling on the brink of (t)reason it's faster than the TD. it suffers the usual mercedes straight six valve guide/seal problems. it will punish you more if you get a poorly maintained example. what's a nice 123 wagon selling for down there?

Re: [MBZ] Trembling on the brink of (t)reason
Nothing much, the 280TE was the top of the line wagon for Benz, so should have all the bells and whistles like power windows, cruise, wood console/dash and other bits and pieces found in the 280's. Ecxpect to get 15l/100ks when tuned properly and running on good fuel, other than that the 110 motor is pretty bulletproof if the maintenance has been done. P.S. Are you on the Ozbenz forum? http://forum.mbspares.com.au/index.php It is more focused on Oz and NZ models than the Yankee lists. - Original Message - From: "Euan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, January 28, 2007 8:26 AM Subject: [MBZ] Trembling on the brink of (t)reason But first I need wise counsel. Premium likely. also adjusting the fuel injection can be tricky, a friend of mine had a 280GE it would get miserable to pour gas on the street milage until a dealer finally got the adjustments right, then it rated poor (15 miles per (usa) gallon). I would expect the wagon to get better of course. John 1983 300TDt 385k Kilometers (mobil 1 Delvac) 1990's 300TDt 185k Kilometers (mobil 1 Delvac) 1993 500SEL 185k Kilometers (mobil 1 Delvac)

I just hope you don't have failed accumulators, which resulted in pressure spikes that blew the strut seals and hammered the control valve to death. Adding a control valve and a couple of accumulators to the job will make it even more pricey. At least you have the old square rebuildable control valve, not the newer round disposeable valve found in 201 and 124 chassis. I lucked out, getting a used control valve for $50 that actually works, and new accumulators on sale for about $80 each. (all prices in USD) Still need to get some of the proper fluid, I thought I could get it at the local airport and didn't order any with the accumulators. Mitch.
