Seattle has become a backwashed P trap of California. Same lack of laws and
mindless sheeple trudging toward the slaughter. The elite take no care of the
“mandates” though they dutifully muzzle while seen in public. Today, while
power washing the vast estate, I saw at least 40 high end cars and must have

Racist and elitist agenda against the working class people who are living
paycheck to paycheck or just slowing going deeper into debt. The bottom rung
of the populace struggles to survive and the racist elites erect blocks against
their survival at every turn.

A person should be able to effect repairs upon their property and effects
without undue hinderance by the ruling class and Karens. IF you plan on
curtailing the lower class from seeking continued survival, just go out and
kill them outright and be open about the repression. Being poor does not look
pretty, but there are more people groveling at the bottom of the pile than
those who can afford to visit the dealership or pay for a repair that could and
should be able to be done at home.

My home may have been unsightly when I was basking in multiple bottom feeder
Benz that were glad to be roadworthy by my own wrenching. Had I been required
to/mandated they be professionally service, there is no way I could have kept
any of them driving or available for another owner to love and service them.

A pox upon California, may it be swallowed by the sea and its populace of
elitist be consumed by plague.

The quoted ordinance appears to be aimed at repair facilities in areas
not zoned for repair facilities, not DIY:

Minor adjustments, service, and repairs to automobiles or other
passenger vehicles. Examples include but are not limited to: radiator,
transmission, muffler, and brake repair, lubricant shops, diagnosis and
tune-up, smog inspection, auto glass repair and installation, automotive
seat covers, and re-upholstery, tire sales and service, and car washes.
Shall not include body and engine work as defined in “Major Automobile
Repair.” (See Section 7.3 of the Zoning Code).

And why do people keep posting links with Goolag or Failbook tracking
crap in them? Most of the time the crap is longer than the link itself.

If I recall correctly, estimated 2021 federal tax receipts were $3.5T and
spending was $8T (before latest $1.9T "COVID relief", I think). With this
kind of "creative accounting" I would not put much stock on any state's

So if you have A neighbor that hates you and decides to report you to the
authorities because you’re fixing your car in your garage, you get penalized.
There are a lot of asshole neighbors ask me how I know. That is the problem

Re: [MBZ] Why would anybody want to live in CA?

2021-03-20 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
For what it’s worth, I know Sacramento well, having friends that have lived
there for decades, and seriously considered relocating there in the late 1990s.
And yes, I would live there. More likely, I would live in the foothills around
Auburn, as it’s an easy commute and the elevation tempers the climate
significantly.

This is, for all intents and purposes, a story posted a year or two ago to rile
people up and gain clicks. The ordinance passed some time ago and from what my
friends tell me, it’s not actively enforced unless you p*ss off a neighbor who
rats you out or have all sorts of cars around your property in various states
of disrepair. Many developments in the area have HOAs whose CC go well
beyond what the city’s ordinance targets.

The article infers that there are code enforcement people roaming the streets
actively busting residents for the possession of rattle gun or torque wrench.
It’s simply not so.

In most cities/towns there are already zoning laws in place that cover number
of vehicles, unlicensed vehicles, vehicles on blocks and/or abandoned vehicles.
The difficulty is assigning manpower to follow up and enforce the existing
laws. Instead of wasting time writing new laws they need to figure a way to
enforce the existing ones!

California is three different worlds. There is the wealthy coastal strip
like Palo Alto, Santa Barbara, etc., there are the big cities, and there is
a rural interior. Laws are enforced selectively. If you can't (or won't)
pay the fines then administrative laws don't apply; enforcement agencies
learned not to waste their time. In the biggest cities property crime (and
other) laws are not enforced, literally. Crimes within illegal and homeless
communities get little attention. Only wealthy and gated areas get what we
would consider normal law enforcement.
This is not an accident. Between stupid and arrogant one-party control and
Soros backed DAs, CA has changed, and not in a good way. As one example:
when I moved there in 1976 CA had the top public schools in the country, now
they are in the bottom two or three.
CA will get a big bail-out in the $1.9T (so-called) COVID relief bill but
that won't last long. And that $1.9T is coming from you and me and anyone
that owns dollars (in the bank, in retirement accounts, bonds, etc). The
recently-posted FRED chart on M1 money supply (which was before this
bailout) tells that story..

OK, not to be pedantic, but it goes several layers deeper than illegal
immigrants. It is interesting. The census shows 300K hispanic or latino in
Sacramento, of 2M. There are about 60,000 undocumented immigrants in
Sacramento as of 2017 (Pew estimate). Any of their kids who are born here
are Americans, same as me. I should also say that cars on blocks in the
driveway is hardly limited to hispanics...people in glass houses and all
that.

Re: [MBZ] Why would anybody want to live in CA?

2021-03-20 Thread Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes
Max I think you're highlighting the issue. Basically out here there are
millions of people who will repair their cars in their driveways for weeks
on end and without paying any business taxes for operating a business out
of their homes if they are fixing other people's cars for money. Lots of
places have zoning laws prohibiting this sort of thing. The housing density
out here can also be pretty high, so if your neighbor has three old
nonfunctional cars in his driveway and it is a foot away from your lawn,
you might want them out of there also. Anyway I think the problem is
potentially far larger out here than anyone in your part of the country can
readily imagine. Sacramento area has a couple million people. Many are
pretty low income, working under the table, living many people per house,
trying to keep their overhead as low as possible, e.g. fixing their own
stuff. I think it is designed to keep entire neighborhoods from looking
like junkyards.

2021-03-20 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Dan, would you move there? Would you like to live someplace with laws like
this?

What in the world is wrong with someone doing major auto repairs in a
private home?

Re: [MBZ] Why would anybody want to live in CA?

2021-03-20 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Insanity! And California is held up as a model for the rest of the US to
follow?

Get this:

"Many are wondering how these laws will be enforced. One member of the
*Grassroots
Motorsports*

forum claims he has already been fined $430 for violating the code.

"I have not been left alone, they levied a $430 fine yesterday. You can
request a hearing to review the code enforcement decision, which costs $700
to complain," he wrote."

So if you get a fine for breaking this draconian law, and you want to
challenge this in court, YOU NEED TO PAY MORE THAN THE FINE TO GET A COURT
HEARING!

Perhaps but it still prohibits me from working on a friend’s car or a
