You can also splice a piece of hook-up wire onto one lead, lay the cap
down, and run the extended lead parallel to the cap to the other end.

If the leads have to spread very much, you might want to tack down the
radial capacitor with a glob of RTV so the vehicular vibrations won't
cause problems.

That's what I figured.  I would have preferred to replace with the exact
style, and I should have ordered both when I did my order a while back,
but if I were to order just these, the shipping would be more than the
parts.

[MBZ] cruise control again

2017-12-24 Thread Kaleb C. Striplin via Mercedes
So here is the continuing saga of the cruise control rebuild. After
reflowing the joints, then all out desoldering and resoldering it still
would not work. Over the course of the last few days I have gone back
over each joint and found some that did not look like I soldered them
very good.  Added a little more solder to those joints.  Then would go
back over them again and find a few more to hit again. So I finally
tried it out just now and it appears to be working fine.  I hope I have
not cursed myself.  I am now getting ready to start on the next one I
need to rebuild.
