Clay probably does not think of Seattle as humid. Likewise, when we were
living in Los Osos, California, and going into San Luis Obispo, I did not
think of the area as humid.

I traveled to Colorado Springs for a job interview and then had Shirley
join me to look at the area.

When we returned to San Luis Obispo and Los Osos after 10 days, I readily
discerned that the area was indeed humid.

California has recently changed its law regarding "hazardous materials"
such that Internet retailers, no matter where they reside, have to flag
products which contain chemicals California deems hazardous with text
declaring:

WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of
California to cause cancer and birth defects or other
reproductive harm. For more information go to
www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

Marlin P. Jones (http://www.mpja.com) has taken this route:

-
As of August 2018 the State of California has changed the requirements
of the "Prop 65" law. We now must list on our website any possible
chemicals the can cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive problem.

As an example:

   ABS plastic contains styrene
PVC wire insulation can contain Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate
  (DEHP)
electrolytic capacitors can contain Ethylene glycol
   Brass can contain Lead
flame retardant pc boards can contain Tetrabromobisphenol A
  (TBBPA)
   Aluminum alloys can contain Chromium

To put it simply we are a small company and do not have the resources
to test every single part, so we list every thing as hazardous. Please
recycle all electronic parts responsibly and under no circumstance eat,
drink or smoke these parts and wash your hands after touching!

I first learned of Prop 65 when I got a radio control servo with a Prop 65
sticker on it.
"Warning, if you let a pregnant woman eat this device it might cause birth
defects"
So I looked it up on the net, and everything with lead solder in it had to
carry the sticker if you sold it in CA.

What's dumber than a California legislator?
A California voter.

But I'm pretty sure lead bullets don't have to ship as hazmat, as long as any
that pass through CA have the Prop 65 warning on them.
Completed cartridges have long been ORM-D materials, and gunpowder and primers
have long been hazmat. IIRC, UPS demands you ship hazmat primers and hazmat
powder separately so they can charge you two $25 hazmat fees.

A couple weeks ago, Brownell's had a one day special, free shipping and free
hazmat on $150 orders. I found out about it as I was getting ready to go to bed
and was NOT prepared to order a bunch of powder and primers. If I'd know in
advance I would have inventoried my supplies and put in a big order to take
advantage of that deal.
Mitch.

40 grain bullet, high velocity...
They have Winchester for just a bit
more:https://www.targetsportsusa.com/winchester-super-x-22lr-ammo-40-gr-lrn-x22lrss1-p-4262.aspx
Strange that they claim the same muzzle energy with the Winchester being
slightly faster...

Basic physics?

KE = 1/2 mV^2

So, if V is different then so must be m. Not too surprising, there's
probably the same powder charge, the source of the energy to begin with.

Over the past century, every member of my family who has visited California,
who died, contracted cancer. I am awaiting the future demise of many more.
IT seems to he that California causes cancer, not some magical substance, like
Diane Feinstein.
