Re: [MBZ] 91 300D Needs to go
While I'd love some to have a spare OM602, VA is just too far for me. I was thinking of Curley (Loren), who I believe wanted to pick it up in December. You said wife wanted $200 and car gone. I wondered if she'd settle for one of those now and the other in 2-3 months. > On September 24, 2019 at 9:47 PM Larry Turner via Mercedes > wrote: > Are you asking me to store it for a while? > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] 91 300D Needs to go
Hi Mitch, Yes, it can be driven. And yes, I drove it home from the shop when the rust was discovered. But I don't know how it would be on the road. We kept it below 45 on the way home and it was approx. 10 mi. By the time we got home the bearing was really roaring loudly. I was worried it might seize. The battery in it won't hold a charge for long, the one that was in it died and I had another around here I thought had a little more life in it than it does. But I can charge it and it will start and can be driven somewhere close. Actually a few people were interested in it but they planned to drive it and I persuaded them that wouldn't be a safe thing to do. FYI, The connection between the top part of the suspension is not critical IMO, but the connection where the lower/front link attaches to the chassis would cause the tires to wear rapidly. Are you asking me to store it for a while? Larry On 9/24/2019 5:20 PM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes wrote: Would it help if somebody who wanted you to store the car for a while paid for it in advance? Hi Tim, The engine is strong. It always started 1st try even down to the low teens without using the block heater. Tranny is from Rusty/Sun Valley. The rear suspension was the death knell - before we discovered the suspension points in the rear, that connect the rear axle/suspension to the body is rusted & no longer connected. Basically the rear of the car is resting on the rear suspension. IMO repairing it would be difficult and my limited mobility would prevent me backyard engineering it. ;-) You can write me direct at l02tur...@comcast.net is you prefer.
