As I recall the one I worked on had the 170 cid I6 with a single barrel carb.
You couldn’t get much more basic that that car. It was easy to drive with that
massive steering wheel as I recall. I just remember it being so large in
diameter that there wasn’t a lot of room between the bottom of the steering
wheel and the (bench) seat.

Note that even the heater was an option, back then. My '60 Falcon doesn't have
PS, nor
does it need it. My joke was the it didn't have power anything, not even the
motor!
(144cid I6, not very powerful. 1-barrel Holley carb.)

Lots of ground clearance, drove it into some pretty sketchy places. Never got
stuck.
(Not mud.) I retract that, got stuck once on the beach in the drier sand.

Very simple to work on. IIRC it took me 20 minutes to remove the head once to
dig a screw out of the piston. Maybe another 20 minutes to be back running
again.

In the early 80’s I had a ‘62. Three-on-the-tree, dead simple 170in3, no PS,
manual choke, tube AM radio…it was awesome.
It shared almost all its accessories bits (brackets, pulleys, braces, AC/heater
parts) with Mustang. I remember being annoyed cause Mustang guys had more money
to pay higher prices for those things than I did so, as a result, I could
upgrade my Falcon with the correct aftermarket AC to make living here more
comfortable.
I remember trying to talk the nurse at the children’s hospital into allowing me
to take my infant son home in my Falcon on July 30, 1989. I think it was 116
degrees and we had a 25 mile trip through Phoenix traffic. My effort to toughen
him up from the get go turned into me calling my dad and he came down in his
1990 Toronado blowing ice cold air.

Friend of mine had his mom's early 60s Comet, fully loaded, parked in
the back 40. Floor and I believe frame rotted out within 20 years of
parking it but it still looked decent topside when sent to the crusher.

White with red interior, he said the bucket seats were super rare.

And likely a massive steering wheel, unless power steering was an upgrade.

The guy I worked for right out of school with all the Jags had an early 60s
“Ford” (bottom of the line Falcon/Comet, I think) that had belonged to his
mother that had nothing more than a heater and three on the tree. Massive
steering wheel, no PS.

 Neat!
I was sorely tempted by a Studebaker Champ a couple weeks ago. I figured an
old, simple truck would make a good camp vehicle. I want something with enough
clearance to easily run out to camp so I can use my Jetta to commute to Caribou
and use 1/3 the fuel the truck does.

I’ll take my vid cams do do a “barn find” reveal!  TV show coming!  Or at least
